Board Game Request

The kids were up fairly early this morning. Bud even got himself some breakfast around the time M-lady and I were getting up. Buster was good about getting himself dressed, and I took the kids to school after combing hair.

The kids seem to have had a good day. M-lady and I both arrived home around 5:45, and we said goodbye to Nanny J. Buster had finished his shower, and we were able to loaf for a few minutes before I got Bud working on his homework. Bud was pretty quick, and the kids had some time to play before we got dinner ready.

Both kids ate well, and after dinner got started on piano with M-lady. Buster got the giggles while playing his duet with Bud, but eventually calmed down enough to finish the piece. Buster had been asking to play a board game with one of us, and when he finished up his piano I sat down with him to play a little bit before snack time. We only had a few minutes, though, before starting the snack and bedtime routine.

I helped Buster pick up his room, and we watched a few minutes of video before turning the light out around 8:30. M-lady had run out for a quick errand, so I sat with Bud for a few minutes before she got back, then lay back down with Buster for a few minutes while he fell asleep, sometime after 9:00.

Easy Evening

I rolled Bud out of bed a little after 7:30, and Buster a few minutes later. The kids were pretty good about getting ready, and I got them some breakfast and combed their hair before M-lady took them to school.

I worked from home today, as we were getting a TV service upgrade and I had to wait for the installer. Buster came home with Nanny J at about noon, and they had some lunch. I said hello while I was getting my lunch, and then retired to the office again. Buster was pretty good about not bothering me while I was working.

We got out TV service upgraded right before Nanny J and Buster headed out to pick up Bud. The kids played well together for most of the afternoon, and only wandered in once or twice. Nanny J took them to TKD in the late afternoon, and I followed a bit later to pick them up.

I opted not to race my track bike this evening, and instead enjoyed a mellow evening with the kids. Bud just had his math homework, which he finished up pretty quickly, and I got dinner going a little past 6:30. Everyone ate well, and after dinner the kids did their piano. Buster had a few minutes to play on the Xbox before snack time.

Bud and I watched most of a MythBusters episode before bed, and turned out the light just after 9:00.

Room Pickup

I heard Bud get up this morning at about 6:45, and he read in his room until it was time to get some breakfast a bit before 8:00. Buster, on the other hand, was pretty hard to rouse, and M-lady and I both made the effort to get him out of bed and get him dressed. He eventually came down for breakfast, and I got the kids to school with plenty of time to spare.

The kids seem to have had a good day. They did school and TKD, and Buster had just gotten out of the bath when I got home around 5:45. We said goodbye to Nanny J, and M-lady arrived home soon after. Bud only has minimal homework this week, so I got him going on that after taking a shower (I had ridden my bike to work).

After he wrapped up his homework, we had dinner, and then I worked with Buster to take apart his Pleygo set while M-lady did piano with Bud. Buster went next, and that took us right up to snack time. I got a snack for the kids, and then did the bedtime routine with Buster. Buster needed to pick up his room before we could read a story, and we ran out of time before lights out. He did a good job picking up his room, though.

Long Weekend Wrap

The kids were pretty good about getting going this morning, and I dropped them off at school as usual. M-lady met them at piano, and I got home a few minutes before they did and got started on getting dinner ready.

We opted to watch an episode of Good Eats which was on in which Alton Brown emulated MythBusters and discussed some of the kitchen myths. The kids really enjoyed the show, so after that episode was over, we all watched an episode of MythBusters together. They were working on the slipperiness of banana peels, and the kids loved watching the hosts fall down repeatedly on their banana peel covered obstacle course.

On Saturday, we slept in a little bit, then got ourselves together and met up with Ama and Agu, and Aunt O and Cousin C, for a walk through one of the local botanical gardens. The kids had a great time running around, and we had a nice walk and chat. We had a snack while there, but headed home before it was lunch time.

After lunch, I went for a bike ride, and the kids did their piano practice. They played outside for a little while in the late afternoon, and we decided to order sushi for dinner, which everyone enjoyed. After dinner, we played a few board games together as a family before the kids had a snack and we started the bedtime routine.

On Sunday, M-lady went to ballet in the morning, and I took Bud over to a play date with one of his school friends. Buster and I had a good time playing together for the rest of the morning. When it was time to pick Bud up, Buster jumped on his scooter and I carried Bud's scooter over to his friend's house. Both kids scooted home as I walked behind.

Buster and I had some lunch, but Bud deferred as he'd had a brunch with his friend. M-lady arrived home soon, and after she cleaned up we decided to try to hit the mall to look at some items M-lady was interested in. Unfortunately, we couldn't find anywhere to park, so opted to skip the mall and came back home. It was a fairly hot day, so I detoured for Slurpees on the way home, which was a popular choice.

Ama and Agu, and Aunt O, Uncle C, and Cousin C came over for dinner. The kids had a good time playing together, and we grilled up a good meal with contributions from everyone. We had some ice cream for dessert, and the party broke up around 7:30, just in time to start the bedtime routine.

Today, the kids were up early, and talking to each other in our room fairly loudly at about 7:00. We sent them out, and they played together happily for the early morning. I got up around 8:00 and got them some breakfast, and we rolled out of the house around 8:45, headed up to Alameda.

M-lady met with Friend K and Friend R at a dance studio to work on a piece together, and I took the kids to nearby Friend K's house to hang out with her husband and two daughters. The kids were a little shy at first, but got on pretty well after a couple of minutes. Buster, being the youngest of the group, came down to me after a bit, and eventually spent some time with an iPad while the others played.

After the dance practicing was done, we all went out to lunch together. We were able to walk to downtown Alameda, where we found a nice italian place. Bud ate an entire personal pizza, and Buster put in a good effort on his as well. I think Bud is actively growing right now, though. After lunch, we walked to get ice cream, and then headed back to Friend K's house. We said our goodbyes, and headed out at about 3:00.

On the way home again we made another optimistic try at the mall, but again ran away when it was apparent there were far more people there than comfortable.

We rested for a bit after getting home, and then I had nice chats with Granddad B and Grandma Nese, and then Grandma W. Buster angled for a video chat with Grandma W, and then spent most of the chat trying to climb onto my head.

We got dinner going after the call, and the kids ate pretty well. After dinner, the kids did piano and started picking up a little bit, and snack time came up pretty quickly. The kids were pretty good about getting ready for bed, and M-lady read with Buster while I watched some MythBusters with Bud. All in all, it was a great weekend.

Persistence

Buster was a little slow getting up this morning again, but otherwise the morning was good. M-lady took the kids to school, and I headed off to work a short time later. The kids seem to have had a good day, and I got home near 5:30, while Buster was still getting ready to get in the tub after TKD.

M-lady arrived home a few minutes later, and we said goodbye to Nanny J. After a little while I got dinner going while Bud worked on his homework.

Buster has been a somewhat pickier eater than his brother, and over the past year we've made him try everything on his plate. He doesn't have to eat it, but he does have to try it. He generally decides he doesn't like something before he tries it, gives it a lick, and then leaves it. Tonight, however, he liked the dish Nanny J had prepared, and exclaimed, "Finally I got to try something good!"

The kids did piano after dinner, and had time for a little bit of Xbox time before snack. I hung out with Bud while he watched YouTube videos before bed, and we turned out the light around 9:00.

Pleasant Boys Night

M-lady was up at her conference this morning, so I got the kids going. Bud was up when I checked on him, but Buster took a little bit of rousting. I got the kids downstairs for breakfast, and then off to school with a few minutes to spare.

The kids seem to have had a good day. I picked them up from TKD, and we had a good time chatting on the way home. M-lady was out for the evening, so I got the kids going on getting cleaned up when we got home. We had some dinner together, and Bud got his homework done fairly quickly. After that the kids had a few minutes to play before we got started on piano.

The kids did a good job on their piano practice, and had a few minutes for Xbox time before snack. After snack, I read with Buster after getting him into bed, and then played on iPads with Bud until his lights out time. Both kids went to sleep quickly, and were generally good all evening.

Evening Greeting

I headed out fairly early this morning to get to a work offsite, so I left before the kids got up. M-lady was wonderful and took care of the kids in the morning and the evening. Apparently the kids were really good, did homework and piano quickly, and were done with responsibilities before 7:30 so had time to play video games together.

I got home at 9:00, and Buster poked his head out of his room to say hi. I tucked him in again and said goodnight, and then helped get Bud tucked in and said goodnight to him as well. I'm glad I made it home to say hi to them before they went to sleep.

Working Together

M-lady had a conference in SF today, so spent the night up in the city with her sister. Buster woke at about 6:30 and crawled in bed with me, fell asleep, and snored for an hour before it was time to get up. He was very snuggly, though. I rolled the kids up a little after 7:30, and we did a pretty standard morning routine.

Nanny J was back today after a couple of weeks off, and the kids were happy to see her (particularly since she brought chocolate back for the boys). M-lady was home fairly early and got to chat with Nanny J, but I didn't make it home until after she left.

Buster is done with homework for the year, but did have a questionnaire to fill out about his teacher to make a memento book for her. The questions were a little open-ended for kindergarteners, but he got through most of it. Bud had a bit of homework, and got through it quickly. The kids did their piano with M-lady, including the 4-hand piece they're working on together, which took us right to snack time.

I helped Buster get ready for bed, then read stories with him and watched a little bit of iPad before we turned out the light at 8:30.

Three Day Weekend

The kids were didn't have school on Friday, so we were able to sleep in an extra half-hour or so. I got ready for work when we got up, and headed off around 8:30. M-lady watched over the kids during the morning. The kids apparently had a good time playing with each other during the morning, and spent most of their time staying occupied with board games.

I got home around lunchtime, and M-lady left for work a short time later. The piano tuner had come and was working on tuning the piano, meaning the kids had to stay relatively quiet, which occasionally rankled. They did well, though, and the piano got tuned, and then the kids had some fun running around screaming.

I took the kids to their piano lesson at about 5:00, and met M-lady there. After dropping the kids off, I picked up some dinner and headed home. M-lady and the kids got home shortly after 6:00, and we did our usual movie night, watching some Dancing With The Stars and some Cosmos.

On Saturday, I had an organized bike ride I headed out for, leaving around 8:30. I got some breakfast for the kids before I headed out, and M-lady was nice enough to keep an eye on them while I was out for the ride. I got home around 1:00, and got cleaned up and had some lunch myself.

M-lady rested for a bit while I hung out with the kids, and we got ready to go out around 3:00. We headed over to one of my friend's places in San Jose, where there was an informal dinner get-together. We cooked pot stickers there, and munched snacks while cooking. The kids mostly played with iPads, but had a good time running around the condo as well. The kids did get to snack on chips and salsa, sugar snap peas, drink virgin strawberry margaritas and lemonade, and generally eat treats all afternoon and evening. The dessert made by one of my friends was an Indian equivalent of a funnel cake, which the kids loved.

We managed to get out of there a bit after 8:00, and headed home. We were a bit behind schedule, and I helped get Buster showered and ready for bed, turning the light out around 9:00.

Today the kids were up and about starting around 7:30, and were pretty good about keeping themselves entertained, although they we loud in our room a couple of times. I got up around 8:30 and got them some breakfast, and M-lady took off a short time later for ballet. The kids and I played some board games together while she was gone.

We had a mellow lunch when she got back, and I headed out to Home Depot in the early afternoon. While I was out M-lady got the kids through their piano, which more or less finished their obligations for the day. I had picked up a new ceiling fan and light fixture for Buster's room, and spent the rest of the afternoon installing that. The kids played some Xbox, M-lady headed out for some errands, and we all enjoyed the afternoon.

Ama and Agu arrived around 5:30, and we got started on dinner. M-lady prepared and I cooked after I'd gotten Buster's fan and light set up. We had a good meal, the kids tore around the living room a bit afterward while the rest of us chatted until snack time. Ama and Agu took their leave, and we did a fairly standard bedtime routine. I helped Buster in the shower and then turned him over to M-lady for reading stories, and Bud and I started watching the sequel to the Avatar: The Last Airbender series, called The Legend of Korra. Looks like it will be pretty good.

Day With The Kids

The kids were up on time this morning, and getting them ready for school was pretty easy. It's nice that Buster dresses himself now, although he sometimes gets distracted by a book while half-clothed and slows down a bit. I got the kids ready for school, and M-lady delivered them while I worked from home for the day.

I picked Buster up from school, and we had some lunch together when we got home. It was a hot day today, so we stayed inside. Buster played around me for about an hour while I worked, and then we headed out to pick Bud up from school. The kids had a quick snack when we got home, and we got ready for TKD.

The kids did a good job at TKD, and really wanted a snack afterward. The kids had a small snack at home after getting cleaned up, and I got started on dinner a short time later. M-lady made it home in time to join us for dinner.

Buster's started getting a little picky about food, and ended up sitting at the table for a while, stalling over his broccoli. He eventually ate it, though, while Bud was doing his piano, and ended up eating pretty well. After eating, he had time to do his piano, take a shower, get into PJs, clean his room, and then read a story for about 5 minutes before we turned out the light around 8:30.

Theoretical Physics

The kids were good about getting up this morning. Bud complained a little bit of a sore throat, so had a little hot water and honey with breakfast. Hopefully that doesn't develop any more. I took the kids to school, and we made it just as the bell rang.

The kids seem to have had a good day. Ama and Agu watched after them in the afternoon, and I met them at TKD shortly after 5:00. They did a good job in TKD, and I had a nice chat with them on the way home. Bud was asking about things traveling faster than the speed of light, which led to tachyons, their mass, and the introduction of the idea of imaginary and complex numbers. I'm not sure how much of that he got, though.

The kids had a good evening with M-lady while I headed off to race my bike. Since I've been racing in a higher category than last year, I get home a little later, and tend to miss bedtime. Everyone was asleep when I got home.

End of School In Sight

The kids were good about getting up and getting dressed this morning, and had breakfast before 8:00. They had a few minutes to play before I combed their hair and M-lady took them to school. It was a pretty hot day, so the kids dressed fairly lightly.

I was out on a bike ride in the morning, and didn't get back until about 2:00. Agu had picked Buster up from school, and then Ama came over as well. Agu was out picking up Bud when I got home, and Ama and Buster were playing with the Viewmaster projector in his room. They were having a pretty good time. I took a quick shower and headed off for work shortly after Agu and Bud got home.

Ama and Agu took the kids to TKD, and they apparently had a good time. M-lady and I got back from work close to 6:00, and we said goodbye and thank you to Ama and Agu. Bud didn't have to do any homework tonight, and Buster just had a little, so that freed up the evening a bit.

I got dinner ready shortly before 7:00, after Buster had finished up his homework. We all ate, and after dinner the kids got started on piano. Buster had a few minutes of Xbox time before snack, and then read stories with M-lady. I watched some Mythbusters with Bud (we talked about pykrete), and then turned the light out around 9:00.

Monday, May 12, 2014

Homework Wrap Up

Buster was a little slower than usual getting up this morning, but not bad. Both kids had breakfast, and I took them to school on time. Today was (optional) Pajama Day at school, and both kids firmly opted to not wear pajamas.

The kids seem to have had a good day at school. Ama and Agu picked them up after school, and kept an eye on them for the afternoon. M-lady and I arrived home around 5:30. The kids were playing their latest game, 'The Adventurer and the Miner', in which Bud pretends to be an Indiana Jones-styled adventurer and Buster pretends to be some sort of adventuring miner (he likes the headlamp, I think). They've got a play tent set up in the guest room as base camp.

The kids are getting towards finishing up homework for the year: Buster is on his last week of homework, and Bud just has his book report this week. Bud and I worked on just about the last bits of the diorama for his report later in the evening, so he's arguably finished with homework.

After dinner, the kids handled their piano, and Buster got a few minutes of Xbox time in before snack time. We also spent a little time picking up, since the cleaners will be here tomorrow.

Happy Mother's Day!

We had a good weekend, with a pleasant Mother's Day to wrap it up.

Friday morning was uneventful, and I took the kids to school. I discovered that the roads next to my office were closed due to a nearby POTUS visit, so rather than sit in stationary traffic for a couple hours, I opted to work from home in the morning. I headed in to the office just before Ama and Agu brought Buster home from school.

The kids had a good afternoon with the grandparents, who took them to piano. M-lady met them there, and after their lesson, brought them home. Bud has apparently made a breakthrough recently, and his playing on a couple difficult pieces has improved quite a bit. Buster is doing great as well. They both received special candy treats from their piano teacher for practicing 100 days in a row (they'd done 98, but promised to practice the next two days as well).

I got home about 15 minutes before they did, and got started on dinner. We all watched the most recent episode of Dancing With The Stars together, and then did the usual snack and bedtime routine.

M-lady got up on Saturday morning to head to ballet class, and the kids and I had breakfast a little bit later. We played on the Xbox together for a bit, and then the kids played together a bit after M-lady arrived home. We had a late lunch, around 1:30, and I headed out for a bike ride around 3:00, while the kids started their piano practice with M-lady.

When I got back, we packed up and headed out to REI to do some quick clothes shopping for the kids, in particular looking for good travel pants for our summer plans. We found some good pants, and after purchasing we headed over to Jamba Juice to picked up smoothies for dinner.

The kids got brain freeze on the way home, and we supplemented dinner when we got there. After dinner, we watched a little TV together before snack time, and did the usual bedtime routine.

Buster crawled into bed with us around 6:30, and Bud was in our room around 7:30. Both kids were good about wishing M-lady a happy Mother's Day. Buster was in and out of our bed, alternately snuggling and then off to play with Bud. M-lady and I eventually got up some time after 9:00 and got ourselves ready to go. Around 10:00 we headed over to Aunt O and Uncle C's place, where we met them and Ama and Agu for a Mother's Day brunch.

The kids had a good time playing together, and we all had a nice brunch a bit after 11:00. The kids had the opportunity to play with Cousin C's Skylanders game, which got Buster hot on the idea of getting the game as well. We came home around 2:00, and Buster and I looked up the cost of a starter set for Skylanders. He's going to need to save his allowance for a couple of weeks.

The kids tackled piano, and we had a good afternoon snack before heading out for an early dinner. We had milkshakes for dessert, which the kids really liked. We came home after eating, and the kids played outside for a little while. After playing for a few minutes, Bud asked if there was anything he could do to help out and earn money. The kids ended up sweeping the driveway and front porch, and did a pretty good job at it.

Bud and I worked on his diorama for his next book report for a little while before snack time, while Buster spent a little time with the Xbox. Snack time came up quickly, and we did a standard bedtime routine. Bud and I hooked up the Zoomy USB microscope for the first time, and had a good time looking at salt crystals, skin, printed paper, etc. We discovered his bellybutton was a little dirty, so he went off to clean that before we watched a few minutes of Mythbusters and turned out the light.

Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms!

One Parent At A Time

The kid were up a little before us this morning. Buster crawled into bed with us, and then announced that he wouldn't do it again normally, saving morning snuggling for weekends. We'll see if he sticks with that. We had a pretty standard morning, and M-lady took the kids to school. I headed to work by bike a short time later.

M-lady headed to work in the morning, but came home to pick the kids up from school. Buster did his piano in the early afternoon, and they went TKD after getting Bud from school. Apparently Bud did a lot of demonstrating for the class today in TKD.

I got home around 5:30, and changed into civvies. M-lady headed out to a work dinner a few minutes later, and I settled in with the kids to see what they were up to. We had dinner a little after 6:00, and then the kids worked on their homework. Buster only had one page left, but it was quite a lot of work, and he was reluctant to do it. Bud flew through his homework and finished up his piano practice. There was about half an hour of rec time for both kids before snack time.

The kids were good about doing the bedtime routine, and I read a story with Buster, watched a little iPad, and then watched some iPad with Bud. Both kids fell asleep pretty quickly.

Different Grandparents

Bud was up a little early, and was reading in bed when I went to check on him. Buster was hiding in bed, but mostly awake, and I got him going without trouble. The kids got dressed in slightly nicer-than-usual clothes for their school portraits today, then headed downstairs for breakfast. I worked on making their hair presentable, and then they said their goodbyes to Grandma W and Granddad B and I took them to school.

The kid seem to have had a good day. Grandma W and Granddad B headed out this morning after the kids went to school, and Ama and Agu picked the kids up and watched them in the afternoon. I met them at TKD, and brought the kids home to M-lady. We didn't have much traffic, so the drive went smoothly.

M-lady took care of the kids in the evening while I was out racing my bike. She report that the kids were generally well behaved, although they took a bit of prodding to get into, and then get out of, the shower. They both did their homework, and Buster was good about doing his reading and playing a very contained amount of Xbox before bed.

Happy To Have Help

Buster crawled in bed with us for a little while, and then at about 7:15 went downstairs in his PJs. After I got up and got dressed, I found him curled up on the couch in the playroom. He opted to have breakfast before getting dressed, so we did that. We said good morning to Grandma W and Granddad B, and M-lady took the kids to school a little later. I headed off to work.

The grandparents picked up the kids from school and took them to TKD in the afternoon. The kids seemed to have had a good time, and Buster had finished his homework by the time I got home around 5:30. Buster was in the bath when I got home, and Bud was hanging out with Granddad B. I pointed out to Bud that his new Nerf gun had arrived, and he worked on his homework so he could open it up.

After Bud finished his homework, the kids played with the new gun for a little while before we had some dinner. Everyone ate well, and after dinner the kids did piano with M-lady. Buster had a little bit of time on the Xbox, and Bud spent all his free time checking out his new gun. We did the usual snack time, had a quick photo-op with Grandma W and Granddad B, and M-lady helped Buster get ready for bed while I watched a little bit more Mr. Peabody and Sherman with Bud.

More Time With The Grandparents

Buster disappeared this morning. M-lady had gotten up a little early to get some work done, and Buster, instead of crawling into bed with me, apparently went downstairs. I thought he'd checked in on the grandparents in the guest room, but he seems to have just curled up on the couch. When I came downstairs looking for him around 7:30, he was happily jumping on the couch with his blanky. I got him headed upstairs again and started on the morning routine.

Grandma W and Granddad B accompanied us to the school drop off, and Buster trotted into class. I took the day off work to hang out with my folks, so after dropping the kids off we headed over to Ama and Agu's place for breakfast. After a wonderful meal, the grandparents all headed off to a local garden together for the remainder of the morning while I headed home to do a little bit of work.

I went out and picked up Buster at about noon when he got out, and found Grandma W and Granddad B returned when we got back. We had some lunch and then Buster played with Granddad B while Grandma W and I ran a quick errand to Target. When we returned, Granddad B, Buster, and I walked over to the school to pick up Bud.

I'd brought Gatorade at Buster's request, and the kids enjoyed it on the way back. I took a quick bike ride in the later afternoon, and the kids got their homework mostly done before I returned, which made the evening a little easier overall. M-lady arrived home as 6:00 approached, and we got dinner going a short time later.

After dinner, Bud wrapped up his homework, and M-lady did piano with the kids. Buster had a little bit of time to play on the Xbox, and snack time came up pretty quickly. I helped Buster with his bedtime routine a little bit, and we read a couple of stories and played on the iPad before turning the lights out. Bud worked with M-lady on his book report for a little while, and then had some iPad time as well.

Weekend With Visitors

The kids were pretty good about getting going on Friday morning. I dropped them off at school, where they seem to have had a good day. Nanny J picked them up, and I got home around 4:00, shortly before they had to leave for piano.

Right before they rolled out for piano, our guests arrived: Grandma W and Granddad B. The kids were pretty excited to see them, and said hello before they headed out. I helped our guests settle in, and we picked up some dinner before M-lady returned with the kid.

We did our usual movie night, watching an episode and a half of Cosmos. The kids were pretty chatty, and we finally got them ready for bed a bit late.

The next day, the kids got up to play with Grandma W and Granddad B. We had a usual breakfast a little late, and M-lady headed out to ballet class. The kids got some screen time, playing the Lego Movie Game, until M-lady returned and we got ready to head out to lunch. We went to the mall, and ate lunch on the patio, where it was a little windy but very pleasant. After lunch we hit the Lego store (for the Star Wars sale) before coming home.

Aunt O and Cousin C came over around 4:30, and Ama and Agu arrived a short time later. We had a pretty good party. I picked up dinner for everyone, and we all ate together, which was a lot of fun. Our local guests left shortly after 8:00, and we got the kids started on a bedtime routine.

Today, the kids were up fairly early again, playing with the visiting Grandparents. I got up around 8:30, and got started on waffles for breakfast. After everyone had eaten, I loaded the kids up, and we headed out to get haircuts for them. They were very patient, got their haircuts, and we headed home, where I cleaned up the cuts and they took showers to get rid of all the bits of hair.

I headed out for a bike ride after that, while they played and had some lunch. Bud started work on writing up the essay part of his next book report, which he did a good job with and finished by the end of the day. When I got back, we had a quick snack, and then all headed out to the kids piano recital.

They did a good job, and both kids played well. Buster was a little impatient with the rest of the performers, but wasn't distracting. We praised the kids, and the grandparents were happy to see the show. We came home for a few minutes before heading out for dinner.

We had a nice meal, and afterward came home. The kids played a board game with Granddad B, and Bud wrapped up his written report. We had a quick snack at snack time, and then did a pretty standard bedtime routine, although instead of watching a video with Bud, he typed up his essay on my laptop. I'll help him format it properly tomorrow, and he can start work on the project portion of his book report.

First of May

Buster crawled into bed with us around 6:45 again, but was pretty good about lying still. He may have even fallen asleep for a little while. We rolled out of bed around 7:30, and did a standard morning routine. M-lady took the kids to school, and I headed off to work.

The kids had a good day. It was hot again today, and the kids wore lighter clothes. They went to TKD in the afternoon, and M-lady arrived home a few minutes before I did. We said goodbye to Nanny J, and then got the kids started on homework a little bit later.

We had a fairly mellow evening. The kids wrapped up their homework, and M-lady got dinner together. Buster was fairly slow finishing his dinner, and consequently didn't have time to play Xbox tonight after finishing his piano. Bud had a little time to shoot baskets out back while Buster was on the piano. The kids had a quick snack around 8:00, and I got Buster ready for bed.

We read for a little while, watched a little bit of Super Hero Squad, and turned the light out around 8:30. Both kids are excited for our visitors arriving tomorrow, and I'm sure they'll be counting the hours when they wake.
