Belting Up

Buster crawled into bed with us around 6:45 again, which seems to be when he needs to pee in the morning. After peeing, he gets into our bed. He was pretty good, though, and we all got up around 7:30.

It was a warm day, so I encouraged the boys to wear shorts. Bud doesn't seem to have any shorts, but we found a stash of his older shorts that Buster can wear now. The kids had some breakfast and I combed their hair, and then M-lady took them to school.

They seem to have had a good day. I picked them up from TKD, where Bud received his latest belt, dark red senior. He's doing great, continuing to show good discipline and excellent form. Buster is doing a good job, too, and will probably be next to test in a month or two.

I brought the kids home, and fought through traffic a little bit. There were multiple accidents which slowed traffic down all over San Jose, and I just had time to drop the kids off at home with M-lady and get to the velodrome for racing. I made it with about 5 minutes to spare.

I had a good night racing, and it sounds like M-lady had a good, standard night with the kids. I didn't get home until near 10:00, and they were all asleep. I look forward to hanging out with them a bit more tomorrow, though.

New Doctor

Buster crawled into bed with us around 6:45, and was pretty good about lying fairly still (that is, I didn't get kicked in the head too much). We got up around 7:30, and the kids got themselves dressed and headed down for breakfast. We got the house picked up a little bit for the cleaners, and then I took the kids to school.

M-lady and I met Nanny J and the kids at the doctor's office for the kids' annual checkup. Unfortunately, our pediatrician, who's taken care of the kids since day 1, retired this year, and a new doctor took her place at the practice. She was nice and the kids seemed OK with her.

The kids both got hearing and vision tests, and Bud seemed to indicate a weak eye, so we'll take him to an optometrist. Other than that, the kids were healthy. Neither needed a shot, which made the kids pretty happy. We headed home after the appointment, Bud with M-lady and Buster with me.

Buster took a bath when we got home, and Bud started on his homework on his own. We got Buster going on his homework after he got out of the bath, and M-lady helped them while I got dinner ready. After dinner, Buster finished up his homework, and Bud got started on piano.

While Bud took a break from piano and played outside a little bit, Buster did his piano, and then Buster got a few minutes of Xbox before snack time while Bud worked on piano. I helped Buster with snack and got him ready for bed, and then turned him over to M-lady to hang out with Bud for a bit. We watched a little bit of iPad before turning the light out around 9:00.

Piano Progress

Buster crawled into bed with us around 7:00, and snuggled with M-lady a bit more than me. He did bring the Squishable narwhal into bed, though, and that landed on my head once or twice.

We got up around 7:30, and the kids got dressed and had some breakfast with a little bit of prodding. M-lady took them to school, and I rode my bike to work, taking off a few minutes later. I got home again around 5:40, and found M-lady already home. She said goodbye to Nanny J as I took my shower, and a bit after 6:00 I got the kids started on homework.

The kids were pretty good about doing their homework, and I got dinner going as they finished up. We had a nice dinner together, and afterward Buster got on his piano practice while Bud played some basketball out back. Buster has gotten a little bored with his Book 1 material, and is excited at the prospect of starting in on Book 2.

After Buster finished up, Bud took his turn, and Buster spent some time playing Xbox. We got back together around snack time, and I helped Buster get ready for bed. We read a book together, and then turned the light out around 8:30. It's nice to have M-lady help put the kids to bed, so she and Bud hung out together while I snoozed with Buster for a few minutes.

Weekend Wrap

Friday went well, if fairly busy in the evening. The kids got up and got ready for school, and I dropped them off. Buster had missed the folder he usually brings home on Thursday, and his teacher and I found it fallen in the back of his cubby. I took it home for him.

The kids had a good day. Bud spent some more time studying for his TKD test, and then Nanny J took the kids to piano in the afternoon. Bud did his lesson first, and before he was done Ama and Agu showed up. They stayed with Buster while Nanny J brought Bud to TKD for his test, where I met them and we said goodbye to Nanny J.

Buster finished up his piano, and then went with Ama and Agu to their house for dinner. They seem to have had a good time. They returned to our place at about 8:00, and Buster got ready for bed.

Meanwhile, Bud's test didn't start until about 7:00. He did a great job, performed totally competently, and had what I thought was the best board break of the evening. He finished up at about 8:30, and we picked up dinner on the way home. We got home around 9:00, and Buster popped up to say hello before going back to bed. We said goodnight and thanks to Ama and Agu, and Bud and I finished dinner and he got ready for bed. We turned the light out at about 9:45.

The kids were up fairly early the next day, but they were good about letting me sleep in after I got them some breakfast at about 8:00. The kids had a good time playing the Xbox for a while I pulled them off at about 11:00, and we started talking about lunch.

M-lady and I implemented a new allowance system, and I recalculated the kids totals after lunch. They decided that they wanted to spend their allowance at Toys 'R Us, so we made the journey. Buster picked out a Lego Movie Lego set, and Bud picked up a new Nerf gun. They were pretty happy on the way home.

When we got home, Buster set to work on his new set, and Bud and I played a few board games, including a round of Milles Bournes and a game of Stratego. After hanging out for a bit more during the afternoon, we headed out to the garage where I did some work while the kids played outside.

At about 5:00, I took the kids out to pick up Jamba Juice, which we brought home and coupled with eggs and bagels for dinner. After finishing up and cleaning up, and practicing piano, we spent the rest of the evening watching Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 and some included shorts. The kids were good about their bedtime routines after that.

Today, I got the kids breakfast again at about 8:00, and then played on the Xbox with them for about an hour before we packed up and headed over to Cousin C's place. The kids had a good time playing with Cousin C, and I chatted with Uncle C. M-lady (who was travelling with Aunt O) arrived with her sister shortly after lunch, and a dancer arrived a well to work with M-lady for a little while.

I headed home a few minutes before the rest of the gang, and headed out for a bike ride, leaving just as they were getting home. I got back from the ride at about 4:30, and after cleaning up helped get the kids some dinner. We had a nice meal, and the kids did piano with M-lady before playing a bit more Xbox and having a snack. I helped shower Buster, and then hung out with Bud for a bit before we turned the light out a little after 9:00. All in all a good weekend, and happy to have M-lady back.

An Easier Evening

Buster crawled into bed with me at exactly 7:00 am again, and we got going at about 7:30. He got himself dressed, and we all headed downstairs to get some breakfast. The kids were good about getting ready for school, and I dropped them off without incident before heading to work.

I got home around 5:30, and settled in for a few minutes before we said goodbye to Nanny J. Buster had just gotten out of the shower, and the kids had a good time playing together for a few minutes. I ate my dinner, and then called them to homework. They had mostly already finished homework for the week, so it was just wrapping up.

The kids had some dinner, and then Bud started on his piano. He wasn't being very serious about it, though, so I stopped him and had Buster play for a bit. When Buster finished, Bud tried again, and did a much better job. They both had plenty of time to play some Xbox before snack time.

When I headed upstairs to help Buster get ready for bed, I discovered about half a ton of Lego spilled onto his floor. One of his big bins had tipped, and so we spent a good chunk of our usual story time picking up Lego together. There was still a little time left for a book before we turned the light out around 8:30.

Bud and I spent time studying his oral questions for his TKD test tomorrow. It will be a fairly big one, and there are a lot of questions and answers to memorize, but he's doing a really good job. I'm sure he'll be fine. We watched a few minutes of Mythbusters together before turning out the light.

Busy Wednesday Evening

Buster waited until the stroke of 7:00 to crawl in bed with me, which was nice. We got up at 7:30, and both kids were good about getting themselves dressed. We did the treat cereal for breakfast, and then headed off to school. Buster was very definite about wearing long pants today.

The kids seem to have had a good day. I picked them up from TKD at about 5:30, and we said goodbye to Nanny J. Traffic was a bit slow on the way home, and we didn't arrive until about 6:15. The kids changed, and got started on homework. They didn't have much to do, having gotten ahead on Monday, so we were able to have dinner pretty quickly. Even so, it was about 7:00 before Buster got started on piano.

Since they'd missed piano practice yesterday, they did a little extra today. Buster got a few minutes on the Xbox before snack time, and Bud finished up his piano after snack. I helped Buster with his shower, and we had time for a story and a little bit of iPad time. M-lady called at about 8:30, and had a chance to say goodnight to the kids before we turned out Buster's light.

Bud and I worked on his TKD belt test oral questions, which are pretty extensive for this test. He seems to have enough (if not all) of the answers, so we'll drill a little bit more and hopefully be ready on Friday. I still need to spend a little time with him practicing his flying side kicks (he need to make sure his range is right). I'm sure he'll do great at the test, though.

Musical Deja Vu

Buster crawled into bed with me shortly after 6:00, and proceeded to kick me occasionally until it was time to get up around 7:30. I got the kids moving and we had breakfast, and I took them to school. There was a minor disappointment on Buster's side when the treat cereal I picked up for them wasn't the one he was expecting, but other than that the morning went smoothly.

It was bright and sunny out this morning, but a cold front must have moved through because it was a bit chilly. Buster had requested shorts, but was pretty cold waiting for school to start. He reported he warmed up by the time recess rolled around.

The kids did TKD in the afternoon, and Buster was getting out of the shower when I got home around 5:30. We said goodbye to Nanny J, I got dinner together quickly for the kids. We were out of the house by 6:00, and headed over to the school.

Buster's concert was up first, and he sang with all the kindergarteners. It was a packed house, and Bud and I were fortunate to get seats. I brought a tripod for the camera, and caught most of the show on video. They did a good job, and Buster acquitted himself well. They wrapped up around 7:00, and most folks vacated. The kids and I stayed, however, and improved our seats to get some front-row spots.

Bud's concert was up next, with about half the number of kids, so it was much more comfortable. They sang the exact same program as the kindergarteners, just slightly longer versions of the songs. They school didn't have to print up different programs, though. Bud did a good job as well, and wrapped up a bit after 8:00.

I'd brought Powerbars for the kids to snack on, which they mostly had after the show. We had a quick snack when we got home, and I got Buster ready for bed. We had time to read a few pages, and then turned out the light. Bud took a shower while I was putting Buster to bed, and he and I watched an iPad for a few minutes before turning out the light around 9:00.

School Day

Buster was up about an hour before the usual wake up time, and got into bed with us. He was anxious to get going, and offered to wake up Bud as well. We all got moving around 7:30, and after I got breakfast for the kids and combed their hair, M-lady took the kids to school.

The kids seem to have had a good day. They were playing with their Nerf guns when I got home from work shortly after 5:30, and we said goodbye to Nanny J after I'd dropped my stuff. M-lady was home a few minutes later, and she started making dinner while I got the kids going on homework.

The kids were good about working ahead on their homework a little bit, since M-lady will be away the rest of the week. We had some dinner, and then Buster got started on piano and Bud headed out back to shoot some hoops. When Buster was done he planted in front of the Xbox for a little while, and Bud took his turn practicing.

Buster opted to skip snack in favor of a few more minutes on the Xbox. I helped him get ready for bed, and we read a book together before watching a little bit of Super Hero Squad. Lights were out around 8:30, and Buster fell asleep pretty quickly.

Sunday, April 20, 2014

Last Day of Break

The kids were up around 8:00 again, and Bud's short night didn't seem to bother him at all. They got us to roll out of bed closer to 10:00, but the kids managed to skip breakfast without much concern.

M-lady ran out in the morning to do some errands, and the kids and I had an early lunch at about 11:30. After lunch we played outside for a little bit, before heading back in around the time M-lady got home. The kids did their piano with M-lady, and we spent a fairly lazy afternoon.

Buster seemed to get low energy, and a little grumpy in the later afternoon. I headed out for a bike ride around 3:30, and when I got back around 5:00 he was pretty happy again. M-lady headed out to run a few more errands, and we had dinner when she got back.

After dinner, I fired up the TV to watch another episode of Cosmos. The kids were really excited, and we watched an episode and a half together before snack time. After snack, I helped Buster with a shower, and then watched some Mythbusters with Bud before we turned the lights out.

Day Early Easter

The kids were up fairly early, and M-lady and I were able to snooze for a bit. I rolled out of bed around 9:00 to get the kids some breakfast. After breakfast, I ran out to pick up an extra controller for the Xbox One, so we could play the Lego Movie Game with two people (generally Buster and either me or Bud).

I had some lunch when I got back, and then helped M-lady get lunch for the kids. After eating, the kids played on the Xbox One together for a little while.

Our new couches arrived shortly after lunch, and we had them set up in the living room. They're pretty nice, and we've had to keep the kids from jumping on them a little bit. It's great to get some real furniture, though. Next, a coffee table!

Ama and Agu, and Aunt O, Uncle C, and Cousin C arrived at about 3:00pm. Cousin C had a (Jewish) friend's birthday to go to tomorrow morning, so we decided to do our egg hunt a day early. M-lady had prepared the eggs, and Uncle C, Agu, and I hid eggs around the first floor of the house. The kids had a good time looking, and eventually I helped them out with some of the more cleverly hidden eggs. Candy was consumed, and the kids set down in front of the TV for a little while before our guests took their leave.

The kids and I worked on some Lego projects together, and had dinner a just before 6:00. After dinner, M-lady and Bud got ready to go out to see a production of Les Mis at Stanford, heading out with Agu at about 6:30. Buster and I played a little Xbox, ran an errand to Home Depot, and then picked up milkshakes on the way home. We had time to play a little more Xbox before getting ready for bed.

Bud was out late with M-lady, arrived home well after 11:00pm. He took a quick shower, grabbed a snack, and jumped into bed. Apparently they had a good time at the show, so I look forward to hearing more about it tomorrow.

A Sciency Evening

We were all up by about 8:00 this morning, and M-lady took off by about 8:30. I had decided to work from home for the day, and handed the kids off to Nanny J when she arrived. The kids checked in on me periodically, but didn't bug me too much. I did print up word searches for them, which they had some fun with in the afternoon.

The kids played outside a little bit in the afternoon, and then headed off to their piano lesson a few minutes before 5:00. M-lady met them there, and they returned home after the lesson. I headed out and got groceries while they were gone, and was just starting to get dinner going by the time they got back.

The kids are really into the Cosmos show now, so we watched an episode and a half of that for movie night. Afterward, discussing Isaac Newton with Bud, I covered the very basics of calculus to explain some of Newton's mathematical contributions.

I helped Buster get ready for bed, then watched some Mythbusters with Bud before we turned out the light.

Napping Together

The kids slept pretty well, and were up around 8:00ish again. Buster crawled into bed with us for a while, and eventually got up to play with Bud. M-lady got the kids some breakfast, and then headed off to work. I waited with the kids until Nanny J arrived at 8:45, then headed off to work myself.

The kids seem to have had a good day. I got home around 5:30, a few minutes after M-lady. I was really tired, so lay down for a few minutes. Buster joined me while I snoozed for a bit, and Bud was in and out of the room. I got up again shortly after 6:00, and headed out to meet up with some friends while M-lady spent the evening with the kids.

They apparently had a good time, with dinner, piano, and Xbox. I didn't get home until late, so I missed hanging out with the kids, unfortunately. Two night in a row and I start to miss them!

Another Day Of Spring Break

The kids were up again before 8:00 this morning, and playing with each other fairly early. M-lady got them some breakfast, I combed their hair, and M-lady took them over to Ama and Agu's for the morning. Apparently they watched Dancing With the Stars and Cosmos before Nanny J picked them up after lunch.

They did TKD in the later afternoon, and I picked them up there. We had a nice drive home, and they told me about their morning (and who got eliminated on DWTS). I dropped them off at home a little after 6:00, and headed to my first track bike race of the season.

M-lady was nice enough to look after the kids. They did their piano, had some dinner, and played on the Xbox a little bit. Buster actually skipped snack again to get a little more play time.

I got home around 9:30, after the kids were asleep, unfortunately.

Kick Training

The kids were up a bit before 8:00 this morning, and we got rolling before too long. The kids weren't anxious to have breakfast, and I got ready to ride to work, rolling out around 8:30. M-lady waited until Nanny J arrived closer to 9:00 and then headed in herself.

The kids seem to have had a good day. They did TKD in the afternoon, and I got home shortly after Buster got out of the bath. M-lady was a few minutes behind me. Buster was keen to show me the Pokemon cards he'd gotten for his birthday, so we did that for a little while.

We had a fairly early dinner, and then hung around a bit before the kids did piano with M-lady. While Buster was doing his piano, Bud and I talked about his upcoming TKD belt test. He'll need to do a board break with a flying side kick, so we talked about jumping properly. He jumps just fine right now, but I gave him some tips which may help him get a little more air. We'll certainly need to practice his take-off a little bit, as just about all the kids I've seen jump way too close to their target, and don't extend their legs properly.

When Buster wrapped up his piano and Bud started, Buster and I started playing his new game, The Lego Movie Game. We just got started on it, but Buster seemed to enjoy it. We had a little more of Buster's latest birthday cake for snack, and then I read to Buster from The Lego Movie junior novel. Buster hasn't been into hearing stories that don't have many pictures yet, but he liked this one. We turned the light out around 8:45.

Happy Birthday, Buster!

Bud was up pretty early, and Buster rolled out of bed around 8:00. He was pretty excited to be turning six years old today, and jumped into our bed to talk about it with us. We all got up a short time later, and I got the kids some breakfast. Buster has committed to stopping sucking his thumb now, so we're going to hold him to that.

The kids are on spring break this week, so we weren't getting ready for school. At about 8:30, M-lady took them over to Ama and Agu's house, where they spent the morning. With Ama and Agu, they made a foray to a local art center to view the gardens and see some of the outdoor exhibits. They had a good time, and headed out to McDonald's for lunch. They each had an ice cream cone there after lunch, which the kids told us all about in the evening.

The kids spent the afternoon at home with Nanny J. I arrived home around 5:30, while Buster was finishing up his bath. M-lady arrived home a few minutes later, and we said goodbye to Nanny J. Buster had played with the Spirograph he got for his birthday a little bit, and showed me some of the art.

We all had some dinner together, and had a quick video chat with Granddad B and Grandma Nese, where Buster opened his birthday gift from them. It was nice to say hello. After that the kids got going on piano, taking a break for another video call with Grandma W and Granddad B. Buster got to open another gift, and we had a fun chat with them as well.

Buster played a little bit of Xbox while Bud finished up his piano, and then we started the last of the evenings activities: one more cake, an ice cream cake M-lady picked up on the way home, and the last couple of presents. Buster didn't finish his cake, but was pretty excited about the gifts he received today. I helped get him ready for bed, where he read a story with M-lady. I watched a bit more of Disney's Robin Hood with Bud before we turned out the light around 9:30.

Happy Birthday, Buster!

Birthday Weekend

I took the kids to school on Friday, and Buster brought some fruit roll-up type treats for his class to celebrate his birthday. He was pretty excited. I dropped off the kids, and then headed to work.

The kids had a good day. M-lady took them to piano, and I got home with a pizza before they got home, around 6:15. We sat down and watched an episode of Cosmos together while eating. Buster was a little skeptical at first, but eventually got into the show. After that, we had a little time, so we watched the first part of Disney's Robin Hood, which the kids hadn't seen yet.

The next day we got started in the morning by getting things picked up around the house. M-lady did piano practice with the kids, and I coordinated getting stuff picked up around the house. M-lady ran a quick errand around lunchtime, and the kids and I hung out a bit and played some computer games.

At about 2:00, Ama and Agu arrived, and Aunt O, Uncle C, and Cousin C arrived a short time later. It was a dual birthday party, celebrating Buster and Ama's birthdays. The kids (and adults) played dodgeball, shot nerf weapons, played with Lego, and watched some Super Hero Squad on TV for Buster's part of the party. Buster had cupcakes, baked and decorated by M-lady for his birthday, which we had around snack time.

I grilled a couple of beef tenderloin roasts brought over by Ama and Agu for dinner, and we had a great meal around 6:30. After dinner, we had another round of cake, courtesy of Aunt O, this time with ice cream as well. The party rolled on until after 8:00, at which point everyone realized the kids needed to start heading towards bed.

I helped get Buster ready for bed, then watched some Mythbusters with Bud. Buster did confirm that he really enjoyed his birthday party.

Today, M-lady got up with the kids and I slept in a little bit. I finally rolled out of bed around 10:00, and M-lady headed out for a short time to run some quick errands. She got through most of the piano practice with the kids when she got back, and shortly after noon Ama and Agu arrived. M-lady and I headed out to catch a movie, where we met Aunt O and Uncle C, who dropped off Cousin C at our place as well.

The kids apparently had a great afternoon, and had more cake and ice cream. Cousin C headed home shortly after we arrived, and we said goodbye to Ama and Agu as well. I spent some time hanging out with the kids, and before long went out with Buster to pick up sushi for dinner.

After eating, Buster went back to playing with some of his new birthday gifts, and Bud, M-lady, and I sat down to play a game of Lord of the Rings, a board game which had been loaned to me by a friend at work. It's a very hard game, and we lost shortly after getting to Shelob's Lair, but we had a good time. A little better planning and some luck and we might win the easy variant of the game.

After the game it was time for snack and getting ready for bed. I got Buster showered, and then read his new Lego Movie Guide book with him before turning out the light at 8:30. We confirmed his last day of being 5 years old, and he was excited for tomorrow.

Inverted Dinner

Bud was up early this morning, but Buster took a little bit of rousing. He was good after he got going, and I got the kids ready to go. M-lady took them to school, and I headed off to work.

The kids had a good day. I got home a little before 5:00, and M-lady arrived a couple minutes later. The kids and Nanny J arrived from TKD, and Buster got to skip his shower since we were going out again shortly.

After saying goodbye to Nanny J, we loaded up and headed back over to the kids' school for Open House. We managed to get there before the classrooms opened, so we checked out the book fair, where the kids picked out books. Buster got a Lego Chima book, and Bud got a beautifully illustrated book about the periodic table.

The classrooms were open when we finished up with the book fair, so we headed over to Bud's classroom, where he gave us a tour and showed us his work. We said hello to his teacher, and then headed over to Buster's classroom. Buster gave us a tour, we said chatted with Buster's teacher briefly, and then headed back outside.

The school had food trucks supplying dinner, and the kids were most excited about Sno Cones. M-lady got them for the kids while I took all the classwork and books back to the car. The kids were mostly finishing up when I got back, so we all headed back to the car and headed home.

The kids didn't have homework, so they read their new books and played for a while. We had a nice video chat with Grandma W, and then the kids did their piano, had a small dinner, and headed for bed. I helped Buster take a shower, and then watched some Mythbusters with Bud before we turned the light out around 9:00.

Reading Aloud

Bud was up this morning, but Buster took a little bit of rousing. Once he was up, the morning proceeded as usual. The weather was warmer today, so the kids wore their windbreakers this morning rather than their thicker jackets. I dropped the kids off at school and headed off to work.

The kids had a good day, and I picked them up from TKD. They were working on more complex kick combinations again, and both kids were acquitting themselves well. After TKD, we said goodbye to Nanny J and headed home.

Traffic was a little tough, but we got home a bit after 6:00. Buster took a shower (mostly by himself), while Bud got started on homework. Buster just managed to get his last page of homework done before we had dinner. The kids ate well, and Buster got started on piano with M-lady after finishing up.

Bud played basketball out back while Buster was working on piano. He's getting pretty good, but our net is only about 6' high: he could certainly use a higher rim. We'll have to see if we can get one, and if so, where we can put it.

Buster finished up around 7:40, and opted to play on the Xbox rather than have a snack while Bud worked on his piano pieces. We wrapped up at 8:00, and I got him ready for bed. We read a library book together: he's really reading well, although he doesn't like to read out loud (I think because some of the harder words still escape him). We turned out the light around 8:30, and he fell asleep pretty quickly.

Norwegian Visitor

The kids were a little slower getting up this morning, and I had to roll them both out of bed. They were good about getting going, though, and after breakfast had a few minutes to run around before M-lady took them to school.

They seem to have had a good day at school, and then went to TKD in the afternoon. Bud received the rest of his tapes, so he'll be testing at the end of the month... we need to start going over the oral questions, since he's 9 now and will have to answer the harder questions.

I got home around 5:30, and M-lady arrived a couple minutes later. She had with her Friend E, who worked with her for a long time and was visiting from Norway. I worked with him myself on a couple of occasions, and it was good to see him again. The kids were a little reserved at first, but warmed up quickly.

Bud spent a few minutes on his homework, and then the kids played basketball in the backyard with Friend E while I grilled dinner. We all ate together, and afterward Buster showed Friend E his Rainbow Loom. Both kids showed off the Nerf arsenal, which I think impressed him. He delivered some treats to the kids before taking his leave, and M-lady drove him back to his hotel while I got the kids ready for bed.

Buster and I read a story, and then watched a few minutes of video before I switched gears and watched a little bit of Mythbusters with Bud. About fifteen minutes after lights out, I caught Bud with his light on, reading his book... I guess he's into it.

Back To The Week

Both kids got themselves up and dressed by about 7:30 this morning, which left time to relax a bit before breakfast. I got the kids fed and took them to school, then headed off to work.

The kids seem to have had a good day at school. I got home around 5:30, while Buster was taking his bath and Bud was reading a book on the couch. M-lady arrived a few minutes later, and we said goodbye to Nanny J.

I got the kids going on homework before too long, which seems to be fairly light this week. Buster actually finished almost all his homework for the week in a few minutes. Bud powered through his math homework, and doesn't have spelling this week.

After homework we had some dinner, and then the kids played for a little while before piano. After Buster finished his practice, he played a little Xbox, and then had a snack. Bud joined us for snack, and then went back to piano.

I read a book with Buster and watched a little bit on the iPad before we turned the light out. It was fairly warm today, and the house is still pretty warm, so Buster was looking to kick off the covers. He's old enough now to get himself under the covers when he needs to, though.

Weekend Recap

Weekend Recap:

On Friday morning I got the kids ready for school, and M-lady took them. She got home in time to take them to piano, and then headed over to her parent's house, where I met them. Ama and Agu had prepared dinner for us, and we ate with them and all watched Dancing With The Stars together. We didn't get home until nearly 9:00, so the kids both got to stay up a bit late.

On Saturday M-lady headed for ballet in the morning. I got breakfast for Bud, but Buster deferred. We hung out together a bit in the morning, and then Bud and I headed out to drop him off at a birthday party shortly after M-lady arrived home. The party was a bit of a ways away, and traffic caused some issues on the way there. We got there, though, and I dropped Bud off before running some errands and getting groceries on the way home.

M-lady and Buster went to the library, and then headed to pick Bud up. They got home around 3:30, and we had a few minutes to hang out before Aunt O and Cousin C arrived for the evening. The kids had a pretty good time playing together, but had some disagreements after dinner. Aunt O and Cousin C took their leave, and we had a few minutes before snack time where Bud and I played some more of our Arkham Horror game.

M-lady and I slept in a bit on Sunday, and I got up to get breakfast for the kids around 9:00. After making pancakes and cleaning up, I headed back to bed for a little while. We all got going a bit after 10:00, and I headed out for a bike ride around 11:00. While I was out, M-lady and the kids ran a whole bunch of errands, several in preparation for Buster's birthday party next weekend.

I got home shortly after 2:00, and got a snack for the kids while I was getting some food for myself. The kids and M-lady tackled their piano practice while I took a shower, and afterward the kids had some screen time. Bud and I managed to finish our game of Arkham Horror (we lost).

We headed out for dinner around 5:00, and decided to try something new: Mexican food. We found chicken fingers on the menu for Buster, and Bud enjoyed splitting a dish with M-lady. All in all, another restaurant dinner option to throw into the rotation.

After dinner, we came home and the kids played outside for a while before snack time. I helped Buster shower, and watched some Mythbusters with Bud before we turned the lights out shortly after 9:00.

Short Evening

The kids were a little slow getting up this morning, but they eventually got out of bed. I helped Buster get dressed, and then got some breakfast for them. M-lady took them to school, and I headed off to work a little bit later.

The kids seem to have had a good day, as usual. M-lady arranged for Nanny J to stay a little late, since both she and I were going to be late arriving home. I got home around 6:30, and we said goodbye to Nanny J. The kids had finished up their homework for the most part yesterday, so they played until dinnertime.

M-lady arrived home, and we had dinner somewhat sequentially. Unfortunately, the evening ran out of time quickly since we got home late. The kids had short piano practices (which they did well), and Bud wrapped up the late couple things on his book report game while I got Buster ready for bed. Buster and I read a few Boynton books together, and then watched a little bit of a video on the iPad before turning the lights out around 8:30.

Game Work

Buster was up early today, and got himself dressed pretty quickly on his own. Bud was a little slower to roll out of bed. M-lady headed in to work early, so I took the kids to school and headed off to work.

The kids seem to have had a good day. Bud put a little bit of time into his game in the afternoon, which was good. I picked the kids up from TKD, and we made it home by about 6:00. M-lady got dinner together while Buster took a shower, mostly on his own. I helped him shampoo.

The kids tackled their homework after dinner, and then piano. Buster spent a few minutes playing Xbox, and then had a snack with Bud. After getting Buster ready for bed, I worked with Bud after he'd taken a shower on his game. We attached cards and outlined the rule set, which he can type up tomorrow. The only other task that's left is mounting the playing board on cardboard.

We worked on the game right up to 9:00, and then we watched a couple minutes of Mythbusters before turning out the light.

Still Gettin' 'em

Bud was up and dressed early this morning, but Buster required the usual rousing and help with getting dressed. The kids were good about having breakfast and getting ready to go, and I took them to school. It wasn't too wet when we left for school, but the rain came down heavily during the day.

The kids did TKD, and Buster was just out of the bath when I got home at 5:30. The kids were excited to get back to looking for Pokemon on their iPads, so I let them do that for a while before they started on their homework. I had the Stanford women's basketball game on, and the kids stopped in to watch now and then.

We had dinner after most of the homework was wrapped up, and M-lady handled piano practice after that while I checked Bud's homework. While Bud was working on piano, Buster spent more time on the iPad, poring over Google Maps. Snack time came up as the game finished, and the kids had a quick snack before getting ready for bed. While I read stories to Buster, Bud did his typing practice before taking his shower.

After we read a couple stories together, Buster and I looked for more Pokemon, and found a couple in big cities. Hopefully Google keeps the Pokemon searching option active for at least a few more days.
