Happy Chinese New Year!

The kids were pretty good about getting going this morning, and I helped get them breakfast and combed their hair. M-lady took them to school, and then volunteered in Buster's class for a little while, as I headed off to work.

Bud had a playdate after school, and walked from school with Friend N to Friend N's house. Apparently Ama and Agu swung by in the afternoon to say Gong Xi Fa Cai to the boys, and were a little surprised that Bud wasn't home. But they had a good time hanging out with Buster.

M-lady got home a little early, had a chance to say hello to her parents, and then took Buster and picked up Bud on the way to their piano lesson. The kids had a good piano lesson, and I met them there. Buster played his first song with two hands, which he was very excited about.

I took the kids home from piano, picking up dinner on the way. M-lady headed out to see a ballet performance put on by the school where she attends ballet class, and enjoyed the evening. The kids and I did the usual movie night, and we were getting ready for bed when M-lady arrived home. I read a story with Buster, and M-lady came and snuggled with him for a few minutes while I put Bud to bed.

Usual Evening

The kids were up and playing a card game together when I got up at 7:30 this morning. I let them know when it was time to get dressed, and they were pretty good about doing the morning routine. M-lady took them to school today, and I headed off to work.

The kids had TKD in the afternoon, and I got home as Buster was getting out of the shower. M-lady arrived home a few minutes before I did, and I was able to hang out with her for a few minutes before we said goodbye to Nanny J. At about 6:00 I got Bud started on his homework, and Buster a short time later.

We had a quick dinner, and the kids finished their homework before doing piano. Buster had a few minutes before snack time, and eschewed his usual snack to play for a few minutes before heading for bed. I read stories with him at bedtime, and we turned out the light around 8:30.

A Different Pickup

Buster came into our room a few minutes before 7:30, and snuggled with M-lady while I got myself dressed. I finally convinced him to get up and get dressed, and we did the usual morning routine. I found Buster's stuffed hamster, which he took to school for sharing today, and we loaded up and headed off.

The kids did their usual day, heading to the later Wednesday TKD class. M-lady was more free today, however, and opted to pick the kids up. I headed home after work, and beat the kids and M-lady by a few minutes.

The kids spent a few minutes getting changed out of their TKD uniforms, and I got started on making dinner. Buster was excited to go through his 'star student' class book with me: each member of his class draws a picture and writes a few words for him. We had fun going through the book together. After that, dinner and homework was the order of the evening. Before piano, Buster sat down with M-lady to go through the book with her, too.

The kids did piano and we had popcorn for a snack again. I watched Mythbusters and a couple of Lang Lang youtube videos with Bud before we turned the light out just after 9:00.

Quick Tuesday

I had to roll the kids out of bed this morning, but they were pretty good about getting up. I got them some breakfast, combed their hair, and took them to school before heading off to work myself. Buster was excited for his second day as Star Student, and brought a small Lego model he'd made (a 'security camera') to show.

The kids had a good day, and TKD in the afternoon. I got home as Buster was coming out of his bath, and he let me know immediately that he couldn't find his slippers. We said goodbye to Nanny J, and M-lady arrived home just as she was leaving. M-lady managed to find Buster slippers, and the kids played for a few minutes while M-lady and I had some dinner.

We got the kids going on homework after they'd had their dinner, and then piano. Bedtime was fairly standard, and I put Buster to bed, turning the light out around 8:30 after reading for a few minutes.

Hard Math Homework

Buster wandered into our room right around 7:30, and M-lady snuggled with him for a few minutes before it was time to get ready. I helped him get dressed, and took the kids downstairs for breakfast. The kids were good about getting ready for school, and Buster was pretty excited to start his week as 'star student'. M-lady took the kids to school, and I headed off to work soon afterward.

The kids seem to have had a good day. Buster had fun presenting his sharing today, which was a Rainbow Loom bracelet he made. Bud's class started doing their oral presentations for their book reports, but Bud didn't give his today, and isn't sure when his turn will come up. M-lady and I both got home at about 5:45, and we said goodbye to Nanny J before getting the kids started on homework.

Both kids were pretty good about focusing on homework, with a break for dinner. Buster finished his homework before dinner, and started on piano afterward. Bud had a math problem which was actually much harder than the writers of the problem clearly intended, but I worked with him on it to enumerate all the solutions. We decided to staple a couple of pages to his homework for the complete solution.

Buster got a little Xbox time before snack, and Bud did a good job with his piano as well. I helped Buster get ready for bed, and read a story with him before handing him off to M-lady and watching some Mythbusters with Bud.

Play Time

The kids were up before us again, but were really good about entertaining themselves. M-lady and I got up around 9:30, and she got the kids going on breakfast while I got ready for a bike ride.

After I rolled out, the kids apparently did their piano, and then headed over to Ama and Agu's to play with Cousin C and have lunch. The kids had a good time, and came home shortly after I returned from my ride, a bit after 2:30. We all had some iPad time after that to wind down a bit.

At about 4:00, we had a nice video chat with Granddad B and Grandma Nese. Buster showed off his Rainbow Loom bands he's been making, and made three more while we were on the call. After the call we got started on dinner.

The kids ate pretty well, and having already done piano, the kids were mostly free for the evening. Buster is 'star student' this week, so needed to make sure he had his poster and sharing item together for tomorrow, but other than that the kids had free time. I played on the Xbox with Buster for a little while before snack time.

We had popcorn again for a snack, and then got ready for bed. I read stories with Buster before we turned out the light at about 8:30, and he fell asleep quickly after the lights went out.

New Popcorn

The kids were up a bit before 8:00, and spent most of the morning in our room playing with their rainbow looms. They were good about not jumping on us in bed, but they were pretty loud all morning. M-lady headed out to ballet class before too long, and I got up around 9:30 to get them some breakfast.

The kds ate a surprisingly light breakfast, and then got back to playing. M-lady arrived home around 11:00, and we had lunch at about 12:30. Both kids ate pretty well at lunchtime. After lunch, we had a nice video call with Grandma W and Granddad B, for the first time since they arrived back from their trip to New Zealand and Australia. The kids were excited to see them, and we got to see some of the photos from their trip.

After the call, we packed up and headed out to the library together. The kids picked out a lot of books, and immediately dived into reading when we got home. M-lady did piano with the kids, and we started getting ready for our dinner guests.

We had friends K and J come over for dinner, along with their 2-year-old son, Z. Z was definitely excited to see all the toys to play with here, but is definitely starting to try and exert his independence, and was a little grumpy at times. We all had a nice dinner regardless, and the kids were good about dealing with Z. Buster set up a train set for him, which Z liked quite a bit.

Our guests left at about 7:00, and I played a couple of games of MTG with Bud, who'd been itching to play all evening. After the games, I got Buster showered, and we had popcorn for a snack: I made it in a pot on the stovetop for the first time in the kids' lives (rather than microwaved or airpopped), and the result was delicious.

The kids got ready for bed after popcorn, and I watched a video with Bud before we turned out the light shortly after 9:00.

Pondering Questions

M-lady and I got up around 7:30, and I was again able to rouse Buster pretty quickly. I got the kids headed downstairs for breakfast and did a fairly usual morning routine with them. M-lady took them to school, and I headed off to work soon after.

The kids seem to have had a good day at school and TKD. I got home around 5:45, and we said goodbye to Nanny J a few minutes later. I got the kids started on homework, and M-lady arrived home around 6:00 for about 10 minutes before heading out again to an evening event.

The kids had a snack with Nanny J right before I got home, so they ended up having a later dinner. Bud had the last bit of his book report to finish up, which included typing up ten questions to quiz the class with based on his report. I let him type it up on my laptop (since it has Word installed), and helped him out a little with formatting and spelling. He came up with all the questions on his own, though, based on a set of questions he'd thought up earlier in the week.

Buster was good about finishing his homework and piano, and the kids had a few minutes of free time after dinner and before snack. I got a quick snack for the kids, and then got Buster ready for bed. Bud was good about getting ready while I was reading with Buster, and I watched a short video with Bud after turning the lights out for Buster.

M-lady arrived home after Bud's lights out, but Bud was still up, and asked to say goodnight to M-lady. They hung out for a few minutes before M-lady tucked him in.

Busy Wednesday Night

I rolled the kids out of bed after I got up around 7:30. Buster was a little quicker to get up and get dressed than usual, and managed to get a little bit of snuggle time in with M-lady before coming down for breakfast. We managed to find Buster's missing gloves this morning, which he was pretty happy about, and I took them to school before heading off to work.

I picked the kids up from TKD at 5:30, and we headed home listening to ABBA (at the kids' request). I discovered on the drive home that Bud hadn't finished up his book report during the day as we'd discussed, and Buster had some unfinished homework as well.

I dropped the kids off at home with M-lady, and then ran back out for a few minutes to pick up new lights for their bathroom. When I got back, the family was sitting down to dinner, and I joined them. After dinner, the kids worked on their homework, Bud handled the remainder of his book report, and Buster did his piano practice before snack time. After snack, Bud did his piano while I read stories with Buster.

After Bud's piano was done, M-lady snuggled with Buster a bit before bed and I hung out with Bud for a few minutes between his shower and bedtime.

Normal Tuesday

Buster actually came into our room right around 7:30 and snuggled with M-lady while I started getting ready. Having him up made getting him dressed a little bit easier, and the morning routine went smoothly. M-lady took the kids to school while I finished picking up around the house anticipating the arrival of the cleaners.

The kids seem to have had a good day, and had TKD in the afternoon. M-lady arrived home just before I did, as Buster was getting out of the bath, and I got home just before Nanny J took her leave. We got started on dinner and homework pretty quickly, and had a pretty run-of-the-mill evening. The kids did homework and piano, and Buster had a few minutes to play Xbox before snack time and getting ready for bed. Bud has a book report due this week, so is spending a little extra time writing that up, but is well on track to having it finished before Friday.

I read a few stories with Buster before bedtime, and we turned the light out around 8:30. He fell asleep pretty quickly.

Fish Food

The kids were up early again, and were in and out a bit. M-lady got them some breakfast, and did piano with Buster before coming back to bed. I got up a short time later and entertained them, while encouraging Bud to put a little work in on his book report. I also got Buster a second breakfast.

After getting the kids dressed, I worked with M-lady for a short time before we all got some lunch together. Buster was a little grumpy, but eventually came down and ate as well. After lunch, we make a quick foray to the local mall, where we picked up some new MTG cards, and M-lady ran a quick errand as well. When we got home, we invited Aunt O and Cousin C over to play.

When they arrived, we all loaded up and went over to the playground and Bud and Buster's school. Bud and I played catch for a bit while Buster and Cousin C played on the playground, and Aunt O and M-lady walked around the park. The park seemed to be the happening place to be, with quite a number of other kids hanging out. Bud joined a pickup game of basketball with some of his friends who happened to be there, and we eventually had to pull him away (and Buster and Cousin C off the playground) to head home.

Aunt O and Cousin C headed out soon after arriving home, and I headed out to pick up sushi for dinner. We all enjoyed the food. Bud was apparently feeling adventurous, and tried a couple of my pieces of sushi: sake (salmon) nigiri, and a tekka maki (tuna roll). He gave them both a so-so rating: he didn't spit them out, but didn't ask for seconds.

After dinner, Buster played on the Xbox for a bit, and Bud worked on his book report with M-lady getting his rough draft squared away. I helped bathe the little one, and then traded MTG cards with Bud for a bit before tucking him in for the night.

Family Dinner

The kids were up fairly early, and spent some time reading books in our bed, but generally left us alone to snooze for a bit. I rolled out of bed a bit after 10:00 and got going on heading out for a bike ride. M-lady got breakfast for the kids, and they had a good morning while I was out.

I got back around noon, and hung out with the kids while M-lady made a quick run to the grocery store. We had some lunch, and then settled in to watch the AFC Championship game. The kids watched some with me, and ran around a bit as well. As the game wrapped up, M-lady did a piano practice with each of the kids, and subsequently Aunt O and Cousin C arrived.

The kids spent most of the afternoon playing together. Ama and Agu arrived, and Agu played outside with Bud for a bit as Ama, Aunt O, and M-lady headed out for a walk. Uncle C arrived a little later, and we turned on the NFC game. The kids were in and out, but mostly played with each other.

We paused the game to all have dinner together, which was nice. After dinner, we finished up the game, and our guests took their leave. Bud spent a few minutes finishing up piano, and snack time came up pretty quickly. I got a snack for Buster and got him ready for bed, and we had a good time reading and watching a couple Lego videos before turning out the light.

Excuse to Get Out

The kids were up and active fairly early again this morning, and were in and out of our bedroom and bed a couple of times. Bud claimed to have been awake since 4:00am, but didn't seem to slow down much during the day, so I'm not sure he was right. M-lady got up around 8:30 and headed out to ballet class, and I rolled out of bed around 9:00 to get some breakfast for the kids.

Bud had already gotten himself some breakfast, but was interested in a second one. After breakfast, Bud played outside for a bit, while Buster busied himself with building Lego models. I got myself together, got my laundry started, and had a nice chat with Granddad B and Grandma Nese while the kids played. M-lady arrived home, and we all had some lunch soon after.

Buster and I tackled a few tasks together, including cleaning up some Lego, and then relaxed for a few minutes before Bud and I headed out to some bike stores while M-lady took Buster to the grocery store. Bud and I checked out three different stores looking for aero helmets (my current one gives me a headache), but didn't really find much available. Bud and I had a good time chatting about D&D while we were in the car: he seems interested in trying it out.

Bud worked on his book report for a bit after we got hime, and then the kids and I tried out a new game on the computer which I got beta access for, similar to MTG, which they seemed to like quite a bit. The mechanics are much simpler than MTG, and the graphics are very pretty, making for a fun game. We played that until dinner time, when Bud and I ran out to pick something up.

We had a good dinner, and after piano the kids played on the Xbox until snack time. I got Buster bathed and ready for bed, and then spent time watching MTG videos with Bud before we turned out the light at 9:00.

A Bit More Efficient

We had a pretty standard morning, with me rolling the kids out of bed, helping Buster get dressed, and getting them breakfast. M-lady took the kids to school, and I headed into work.

I picked the kids up from TKD at about 5:30. They were working on some more advanced kicks and kick combinations, and both kids were doing pretty well. They both still need to work on flexibility, though. We should probably do that as a family a couple times each week.

Traffic was a bit heaving heading home, and we arrived around 6:15. M-lady was working late, so I got Buster bathed and then got dinner going for the kids. Buster had already completed his homework, and tomorrow's homework to boot, and was pretty pleased with himself. Bud had already completed his reading, and we pounded through the rest of his homework before M-lady arrived home around 7:00.

Buster did his piano, and M-lady helped Bud work on his book report before doing piano with him while I helped Buster get ready for bed. Buster and I enjoyed reading a few stories together before we turned out the light at about 8:30.

Waiting At The Office

I had to rouse both kids this morning. Bud was a little bleary-eyed, but good about getting up. Buster still wants me to get him dressed before hopping out of bed and getting some breakfast. I combed the kids hair before breakfast this morning, so I could head out to work on my bike at the same time M-lady loaded the kids up for school.

Nanny J apparently suffered a flat tire on the way to pick up Buster, so M-lady swooped in to get him. Buster had to wait at the school office for about 15 minutes, though, which apparently he thought was fun. He was in good spirits when M-lady got him, and Nanny J joined them at home a few minutes later. M-lady worked from home for the afternoon.

The kids seem to have had a good day. I got home on my bike at about 5:30, and found Bud playing outside. It was getting dark, so he came in shortly, while I took a shower to clean up. Buster told me about waiting in the office, and a short time later I got the kids started on homework.

The rest of the evening was fairly straightforward, with homework, dinner, and piano. Bud now has typing homework which he does on a website, like his reading homework. Unfortunately, the computer he's using is apparently missing a later SSL cert, so he can't access the typing website from it. I let him use my computer after taking a shower to do a level of the typing site before we watched a few videos at bedtime.

More Motivation

The kids required rousting this morning, although Buster was a little better about becoming conscious and heading downstairs for breakfast after getting dressed. I got the kids ready and took them to school, where we arrived just as the bell sounded, and then headed off for work.

The kids had a good day at school, and I managed to make it home right at 5:45. We said goodbye to Nanny J, and I got the kids going on homework. Bud had already completed some of his homework, with anticipation of cracking open some new MTG cards I'd picked up over the weekend which we hadn't had time for. M-lady got home as homework was wrapping up, and the kids were working on dinner.

I tallied allowance earned by the kids, and they each spent some on MTG cards. After opening up and cataloging their booster packs, the kids took care of their piano practice, which took them right up to snack time. I helped Buster get ready for bed, and he and I read stories and watched a couple Lego videos before we turned out the light at about 8:30.

Another Birthday Celebration

The kids were up and active again this morning, and very loud, in and out of our bedroom. We kicked them out several times before I got up around 10:00 and got them breakfast. It was actually Buster's second breakfast, as M-lady had gotten up to get him one earlier, but apparently that level of activity takes some energy to maintain.

After breakfast, we watched a few minutes of the NFC playoff game before getting dressed and ready to head out. Around noon, we headed over to Ama and Agu's for a celebration of Agu's birthday. We met up with Aunt O, Uncle C, and Cousin C there, the first time we've seen them since the holidays as they, like us, have been recovering from colds. The kids had a great time playing together, as usual.

We had lunch fairly soon after arriving, some conversation, cake, and presents for Agu. It made for a very pleasant afternoon. Around 3:00 I took my leave and headed out to get together with some friends, and M-lady came home with the kids a short time later. They apparently had a good afternoon.

I arrived home again around dinnertime, and joined the family for dinner. After dinner, the kids did their piano practice, and then we spent some time playing Lego Marvel Super Heros on the Xbox before snack time. I realized Buster needed a shower after snack, so I bathed him quickly before getting him into PJs. M-lady read stories with Buster while Bud and I watched another few games of the 2013 MTG World Championships. We had to stop before watching the final hand which will determine the champion, so there's a lot of anticipation.

Saturday, January 11, 2014

Party Day

The kids were up shortly after 7:00, and played with each other noisily in and out of our room all morning. M-lady got up to get them some breakfast and did some work, and I managed to stay in bed until about 10:00. The kids stayed on hyperdrive, and I had to kick them out of the room a couple of times.

After I got up and got going, we got started on the main work for the day: getting ready for the P10 party we were hosting that evening. The kids and I picked up downstairs and moved some furniture around, while M-lady ran out to pick up some placemats for our new table. When she got back, Buster had started winding down due to lack of food, so Bud and I ran out to pick up some lunch. We all ate together when we got back.

The kids played outside for a while as I ran to the grocery store, and were back inside by the time I got home. We had a quick snack, changed into our clothes for the party, and waited for guests to arrived.

The first guests arrived around 4:30, and we had a wonderful dinner party. Friends Av and An played really well with Bud and Buster all evening, sat and had a nice meal together, and then played some more. The party didn't wrap up until about 9:30, well past the kids' bedtimes. They were still happy, though, after some extra desserts and lots of playtime at the party. Buster's light turned out around 9:45, and Bud's about 10:00, and they were asleep pretty quickly.

Enjoying the Evening

Buster was a little slow getting up again in the morning, and after getting him dressed, I got the kids some breakfast and took them to school. They apparently had a good day, and met M-lady at their piano lesson in the late afternoon.

I got home in time to get started on dinner, and we were able to set up in front of the TV for our usual movie night within a few minutes of the kids getting home. The kids opted to watch a couple of episodes of Weapon Masters, which was enjoyable. That took us all the way to snack time, and I read stories with Buster after getting him ready for bed.

It was a pleasant evening all together, and a nice start to the weekend.

Effective Incentive

Buster again was a bit hard to rouse this morning, but Bud was excited to get up since he had a field trip today. During the morning and breakfast routine, Bud actually did his math homework, since he really wanted to get his homework done early so we could play a game of MTG or two in the evening.

M-lady took the kids to school. Bud apparently had a good time on his field trip, and had more information about atlatls that the tour guide. Nanny J took the kids to TKD in the afternoon, and Buster had his bath before Nanny J left.

M-lady and I got the kids going on homework and dinner, both of which were wrapped up successfully pretty quickly. Both kids did their piano, and we were all done with routine by 7:00, about an hour earlier than usual. Buster opted to play on the Xbox for a while, and Bud and I played some MTG together before snack time.

I got snacks for the kids and helped Buster brush his teeth, then played a little more MTG with Bud before we turned out the light at 9:00.

Wednesday, January 08, 2014

Bears

On his usual form, Buster didn't join us in bed this morning, and was mostly dead as I tried to get him up to get dressed around 7:45. I got the kids going, though, and got them breakfast and combed their hair before turning them over to M-lady to take to school.

The kids seem to have had a good day. They did school, and I picked them up from TKD. Buster wasn't participating (still on the tail end of his cold), but Bud was doing a good job. We said goodbye to Nanny J and I brought the kids home, where we arrived around 6:15 and found M-lady already there.

The kids got started on homework, and we had dinner fairly quickly. One of Buster's homework assignments was to research 5 facts about bears, which we all helped out with and discussed over dinner. After dinner, there was more homework and piano, a brief gaming period with the Xbox, and snack time.

I helped get Buster ready for bed, and we read a few stories before turning out the lights at about 8:30.

Getting Stuff Hung

Buster crawled into bed with us a little after 7:00, and was good about snuggling quietly until it was time to get up around 7:30. I did the standard morning routine with Bud, while getting Buster breakfast. Buster didn't bother to get dressed, since he was staying home from school. I dropped Bud off at school while M-lady stayed with Buster until Nanny J showed up.

Buster was apparently mostly better today. He had a very low grade fever in the afternoon, but I don't think it's enough to warrant another day home from school. The kids did miss TKD today, though. M-lady got home in time to get the kids from Nanny J, and I stopped by Home Depot on the way home to pick up some hardware.

M-lady managed to get have the kids mostly finish their homework and piano by the time I got home. I joined them for dinner, and then they finished up the routine while I worked on getting a piece of art given us by Ama and Agu mounted on the wall. Agu joined us to help M-lady and I hoist it into place, and we got it all squared away shortly after 8:00.

We said goodnight to Agu, and I watched some MTG videos with Bud while M-lady read stories with Buster before turning out the light.

Monday, January 06, 2014

False Start

The kids were pretty good about doing the routine this morning. Buster got into bed with us around 7:00, and we all got going around 7:30. After convincing Buster to get dressed, I got the kids some breakfast, and took them to school.

Nanny J called after picking up Buster to let us know he was running a fever. I headed home, picking up some medicine along the way. He was running just about 101, and I gave him a dose of ibuprofen. He read to himself and fell asleep shortly, napping for a couple of hours. He woke up around the time Bud got home, at 2:30, and was still running a fever. I gave him a dose of acetaminophen, and he was fine a short time later.

The kids entertained each other through the afternoon, but were anxious for me to play with them when I wrapped up work around 5:30. We said goodbye to Nanny J, and M-lady got home a few minutes later. The kids got started on homework, and we spent the rest of the evening doing dinner, piano, and homework. Buster and I spent a little time before snacktime working on restoring one of his Lego set which had been damaged, and then headed straight for bed.

I read some stories with Buster before bedtime, and turned out the light a few minutes after 8:30. He fell asleep quickly, and hopefully will kick the cold he has. Unfortunately, I don't think he can go to school tomorrow, though.

Sunday, January 05, 2014

Packing Up The Holidays

I got up around 7:00, and started getting ready for a bike race. Buster took my spot in the bed as I got out, and Bud was up working on his Lego when I headed out the door around 7:30. M-lady got up to get the kids breakfast (a couple of time for multiple breakfasts, apparently), but was able to rest a bit.

I got home again just after 11:00, and after taking a shower had some lunch with the kids. After eating we settled down to watch the Chargers' playoff game which I had recorded, and the kids and I watched the whole thing (skipping through fairly quickly), excited by the Chargers' win.

After wrapping up the game, I got started on the work for the day while the kids played outside: taking down the lights on the house, picking a bucketful of clementines from the roof while I was up there, putting the lights away, stowing the ornaments and decorations, and getting the tree out of the house and onto the curb for pickup tomorrow. It took a good chunk of the afternoon, and I was pretty tired by the time I finished up, around 4:30. The kids helped on and off, but mostly enjoyed playing outside with the neighbors.

Bud took a shower when he came in, and we had a fairly early dinner at about 6:30. The kids ate pretty well, and after dinner we watched an episode of Weapon Masters about the katana before having a snack. I got Buster bathed and ready for bed, and then spent time hanging out with Bud while M-lady read stories with Buster. The kids seemed ready to head back to school tomorrow, and Bud was content with his vacation.

Recovering M-lady

The kids were up around 7:30, as usual, and a bit bouncy. I got up to get them some breakfast around 8:30, and then came back to bed for a little while. At about 9:30, I headed downstairs again and watched an episode of Sesame Street with the kids, which we hadn't done in a long time.

M-lady came down around the time the episode ended, and played with the kids with their Rainbow Looms for a while. I headed back to bed for a bit, and M-lady joined me there some time after 11:00. I got up again at 11:30 and got lunch for the kids, and convinced them to get dressed.

We started actually doing stuff at that point. While M-lady napped, we un-decorated the tree, leaving the ornaments out where M-lady could easily pack them away. After stripping the tree, we packed up and headed to the library to return the library books and pick up some new ones, and then headed over to the grocery store to pick up a couple of things. The kids were great during our errands.

When we got home, the kids opted to play outside for a bit, and I spent time nearby picking clementines. M-lady roused herself to get the ornaments and decorations boxed and packed, and then headed back to bed. The kids and I played outside until about 5:00, and then headed in and watched a couple of episodes of Weapons Master while having dinner. M-lady snoozed until about 7:30, when I got the kids showered and ready for bed. She was up briefly to say goodnight to the kids when I put them to bed. Hopefully she'll feel better tomorrow!

Morning Patience

The kids were up fairly early, and jumped into bed with us with far too much energy at about 7:00. I kicked them out, and then got them some breakfast at about 7:30. M-lady and I were able to snooze until a bit after 8:00, at which point we got up and got the kids ready to head out.

We headed to a post office a little ways away to get in line to submit passport applications for the kids. The line was fairly long, and we ended up needed to wait longer after the application to get the payment for the application squared away. I was able to make an exit before then, but I got a report that the kids were really well behaved while waiting in line.

M-lady stayed home today, which was good since she was a little laid up with her cold. Buster was still recovering today as well, and stayed inside most of the day. Nanny J was around until about 2:00, and the kids had a play date when Friends N and R came over for the early afternoon.

Bud and Friend N played outside for a bit, and I believe Buster and Friend R stayed inside. After our guests left, Bud played with the neighbors across the street for a little while before coming home and taking a shower. I got home a few minutes later with dinner.

M-lady missed movie night, taking a nap instead. The kids and I watched Looney Tunes and had a good dinner, hanging out together until snack time. I got Buster ready for bed after snack, and M-lady read stories with him while I hung out with Bud before bedtime.

Winter Colds

The kids were up early, around 7:00. They were in and out of our bed, and Buster was coughing again a bit, but didn't seem fazed. I pulled myself out of bed around 8:30 and got ready for work, heading out the door around 8:45 as Nanny J arrived.

The kids stayed inside all day, and Buster apparently was in pajamas all day. M-lady went to work in the afternoon, and while she was out the kids apparently spent some time with the iPads, which they weren't supposed to do, as I had neglected to change the passcodes from the babysitter settings. They also got started on one of the 3D puzzles Nanny J gave to the kids for Christmas, a model of the Eiffel Tower which they made pretty good progress on.

I got home around 5:15, and the kids were having a bath. M-lady got home a short time later, although she managed to catch the cold that's going around, so headed to bed for a little while after we said goodbye to Nanny J. I got some dinner for Bud while Buster rested a little bit, and then got Buster going again after he drifted off to sleep. Buster had just eaten a little bit of toast when Ama and Agu arrived, and M-lady and I headed out to catch a movie.

The kids were apparently pretty good for Ama and Agu, and played some cards before heading off to bed. M-lady and I got home around 10:30, and the kids were sleeping soundly. Hopefully both Buster and M-lady will feel better soon!

Happy New Year

The kids were up around 8:00ish as usual, and in and out of bed a bit. M-lady got up to get some warm water and honey for Buster, to help with his cough a little bit. I rolled out of bed at 9:30 and headed out for a bike ride, and M-lady got breakfast for the kids.

The kids got dressed around the time I got back from my ride, and I helped get the dining room cleaned up for the delivery of our new dining room table. We had to move Buster's Lego off and into the playroom, but he didn't mind too much. The kids were excited to watch the table arrived, but were also pretty interested in the Tournament of Roses Parade, which I'd put on the TV.

After watching the beginning of the Rose Bowl, we headed out to visit Friend J for her annual New Year's Day party. The kids brought books, and were really patient as M-lady and I caught up with some friends. We decided to head to Red Robin for dinner, which was crowded and extra slow, but we all had a good meal. After dinner, we got home a bit after 7:00.

I got Buster into the bath around 7:30, followed by a snack and getting ready for bed. His cough didn't sound quite as bad tonight, so I set him up with just the humidifier, and hopefully he'll be able to sleep well. We turned the light out a bit after 8:30, and he was asleep within about 10 minutes.
