Getting Into the Season

M-lady went to ballet again this morning, and I got up with the kids to make them some hot cocoa. They mostly deferred on breakfast, however, and the three of us spent the morning working on my old Lego Mindstorms set together. Bud and I played a game of Magic, and we spent time flying our micro helicopters as well.

M-lady returned and we had an early lunch, and then played a little bit more before loading up and heading over to Ama and Agu's place. Aunt O and Cousin C were already there, and the kids had a great time playing during the afternoon. M-lady and I took the opportunity to head out and do some shopping, and picked up the kids at about 4:00.

We had picked up a family Christmas present, which the kids were pretty excited about. When we got home, we dropped the package off, loaded up in the car again, and headed out to pick up a Christmas tree. The nursery was fairly vacant (as it's a bit early to get a tree), but the next two weekends won't work out for us very well. After picking out a tree and getting it into the car, we picked up some dinner (listening to Christmas music in the car) and headed home.

We ate dinner when we got home (everyone ate quite a bit, as snacking had been light in the afternoon, apparently), and then got down to setting up the tree. The kids helped out, and had a good time vacuuming up the errant pine needles after the tree was up. We planned on decorating tomorrow, so left it there while the kids did their piano practice.

We all watched some of a Peanuts cartoon together before snack time, and then got ready for bed. I played on the iPad with Bud for a bit, and then watched some Mythbusters before turning out the light.

Black Friday Participation

I got up at about 4:30 this morning, and headed over to Home Depot to pick up some Christmas lights for the house. There were about a hundred people in line in front of me when I got there at about 5:00, and the store opened and let them in. Fortunately, Home Depot is big enough that it wasn't crowded. I picked up the lights I was looking for, and also found 99 cent poinsettias, so I picked up a few of those.

I got home again at a little before 6:00, and crawled back into bed. The kids were fairly rambunctious when they crawled into bed with us around 8:00, and eventually M-lady got them some breakfast and let me sleep in a bit.

M-lady took off at around 11:30 for a ballet class, and while she was out the kids and I worked on getting the lights on the house. The kids helped a bit, and each had fun climbing the ladder, but mostly they ended up playing with the neighbors. We got all the lights up, though, and the family agreed that the new lights look great.

I was able to go for a quick bike ride a little later in the afternoon, and got back home around 4:00. The kids were still playing outside, and I took a quick shower. Ama and Agu arrived at about 4:30, and we all loaded up in the car a short time later to head down to Saratoga for the Christmas Tree lighting. They had some opera excerpts, a brief sing-along, and the tree lighting, which was nice. We had a nice stroll through downtown Saratoga as well.

We had dinner when we got home, leveraging the turkey leftovers, and everyone ate well. After dinner, Ama and Agu headed home, and the kids started getting ready for bed. I played on the iPad with Buster for a bit before we turned out the light at about 9:00.

Happy Turkey Day

The morning was fairly standard weekend fare, with the kids jumping in bed with us around 8:00. We got up a little while later, and M-lady ran out to pick up some last-minute grocery items after breakfast. The kids and I played together for a little while, until I got started cooking.

The two big cooking projects of the day for me were the turkey and an apple pie. I got the crust together for the pie, and the apples peeled and sliced, and then basted the turkey and put it in the oven. I got some lunch for myself and the kids after that, and M-lady arrived home around that time.

While that was going on, I was watching the NASA webcast about the comet ISON's perihelion pass of the sun. The kids wandered in and out to watch as well. Unfortunately it looks like ISON met its demise, but it was fun to watch.

After lunch Bud played outside for a little while, and Buster spent some time hanging out with me. We turned on a second webcast at about 2:00, this one watching the SpaceX geosynchronous satellite launch. Unfortunately, that launch didn't go off, so we were 0 for 2 on space webcasts for the day. Ama and Agu arrived while we were watching, and I spent time getting the apple pie constructed and in the oven.

The turkey was ready slightly earlier than predicted, and Ama, Agu, and M-lady did a great job getting the sides together to go with the turkey. Everything turned out beautifully, and we sat down to eat at about 5:30.

After a great meal, the kids and I watched some Peanuts shows on Netflix. We had a nice video chat with Grandma W and Granddad B, and Buster played piano for them, which was cool. We had the apple pie at snack time, which turned out really well. After the pie we said goodnight to Ama and Agu, and the kids got ready for bed. They were still a bit wired, but eventually settled down. Bud and I watched a little bit of Mythbusters together, going back to the first episode, before turning out the light shortly after 9:00.

A Star Wars Morning

Both kids crawled in bed with us this morning for a while, and slowly escalated from quiet snuggling to all out wrestling. I eventually got out of bed around 8:45, and the kids and M-lady were up around the same time. M-lady got some breakfast for the kids while I spent a little time working.

At about 9:15 Agu arrived, and a few minutes later we loaded up in two cars and headed over to The Tech to see the visiting Star Wars exhibit. The exhibit was great, and the kids had a good time. We saw a few things that we hadn't seen at previous museum exhibits: the original full-sized landspeeder, as well as some of the props, costumes, and models from Episodes I-III. We waited in line for a bit to do the 'Millenium Falcon Experience', which was OK, but not as good as the rest of the exhibits, unfortunately.

The kids were starting to wear a bit thin as we headed out, around 11:15. We made our way back to the cars, where I said goodbye and headed to the office, while M-lady, the kids, and Agu headed home for lunch. In the afternoon, a couple of school friends came over for a play date, and the kids had a good time with that until around 5:30.

I did some grocery shopping on the way home, and arrived at about 6:00, while the family was already having dinner. After eating, the kids and I watched some TV, and discovered that the entire Peanuts cartoon library is apparently on Netflix. We had a good time watching that until snack time rolled around.

A Star Wars Evening

Buster again jumped into bed with us a little early this morning, but went to play with Bud after a little bit. I slept in until around 8:00, then got up and got myself ready before heading out. M-lady waited with the kids until Nanny J arrived.

The kids had another nice day. The weather was great again, and the kids spent some time playing outside with the neighbors. They had TKD in the afternoon, where I caught up with them to attend Bud's belt advancement ceremony. He's reached Dark Red belt, just a few belts away from Black.

The kids headed home with Nanny J, and I ran an errand on the way home, arriving at about 5:30. The kids had a snack and we said goodbye to Nanny J, and wished her a happy Thanksgiving, since M-lady will be taking the day off tomorrow. The kids were still hungry after their snack, so I got started on getting dinner together for them.

We were mostly wrapping up dinner when M-lady arrived home, and after M-lady had eaten, I popped Star Wars into the disc player. We watched bits and pieces of the movie, skipping through some parts, but watching the Death Star run at the end in its entirety. It was fun to watch as a family, and it took us to snack time.

After snack, I helped get Buster ready for bed while M-lady helped Bud practice piano. When they finished up, M-lady read stories with Buster while I watched some Mythbusters with Bud before bed.

Dinner With Family

Buster crawled into bed with us at about 7:00, and was very anxious for us to get up and chat with him. Unfortunately, since he didn't have school, we didn't have a lot of motivation to get up early. M-lady got up to get ready before I did, and headed out around 8:15, when I got up. Nanny J arrived around 8:30, and I headed out a short time later.

The kids seem to have had a good day. They went to CostCo with Nanny J in the morning, and then in the mid-afternoon headed over to Ama and Agu's house with her. Nanny J left the kids there, and M-lady and I arrived around 6:00pm. The kids were having a great time singing karaoke to Mary Poppins songs and playing with a pair of small walkie-talkies. We all had a nice dinner there, and then came home shortly after 7:00.

The kids and I watched about 10 minutes of MNF, and then had snack time. Bud did a bit of piano practice with M-lady while I bathed Buster and got him ready for bed (both kids had apparently spent some time practicing earlier in the day). Buster and I read together and watched some Minion Youtube videos at bedtime. We turned the light out around 8:30, and Buster fell asleep pretty quickly.

Continued Nice Weather

I was up before the kids this morning, and headed out to a bike race at about 7:30. It was a chilly morning, and the first few miles of the race were pretty cold, but it warmed up into a beautiful day. I did OK in the race, and got home around 11:30.

M-lady had gotten breakfast for the kids, and they'd done their piano practice. Buster accidentally knocked over a cake stand, breaking it, but it had been left in a precarious situation to begin with. After piano was wrapped up, M-lady took the kids over to Aunt O's place to visit with Cousin C for a while. They were still over there when I arrived home from my race.

They got back to the house around 1:00, and Buster came and sat with me on the couch watching football for a few minutes before M-lady took him to a classmate's birthday party at Chuck-E-Cheese. Bud was playing outside, and came in around 1:30. We headed out together a few minutes later to do the grocery shopping, and got back before 2:30.

Bud played outside with the neighbors for a bit, and Buster joined them when he got home. The kids came in later in the afternoon, and played inside a bit before dinner, which M-lady prepared. They ate a good dinner, and since it was still early, we all decided to play a game of Ticket To Ride together. Bud did a good job and won, while Buster and I were somewhat stymied by our card draws.

The kids had their snack a little early, when we finished the game, and then watched a small amount of TV before heading upstairs to get ready for bed. I helped Buster brush his teeth, and then watched the beginning of Pirates of the Caribbean together, skipping over some of the early scarier scenes. He seems to like it so far.

Suite Performance

The kids were up fairly early, but mostly played together. Buster came and jumped in bed with us once or twice before M-lady headed out for ballet, and a couple times after that as well. I got up a bit after 9:00 and got breakfast for the kids.

The kids played together for most of the morning. M-lady arrived home around 11:00, and a few minutes after that I headed out with Bud to a piano rehearsal. He'll be performing a piece in a suite with a group of kids at the next recital, and they were all rehearsing together today. Bud is the youngest in the group, and shorter than all the others by a head or more.

After we finished up the rehearsal, Bud and I hit the library to exchange books before heading home. We had lunch at home, and Bud and Buster curled up with some new library books for a little while. A bit later in the afternoon Aunt O and Cousin C arrived, and the kids had a good time playing together.

We all had dinner at about 6:00, and Aunt O and Cousin C headed out near 7:00. In order to settle the kids down a little bit before bed, I turned on the TV and we watched some Mythbusters before snack time. The kids had a quick snack at about 7:45, showered, and got ready for bed. I had fun reading stories with Buster and watched a couple of SloMoGuys videos before we turned out the light around 8:45.

Feast and Test

M-lady had an early call this morning, so I got the kids ready and took them to school. Once M-lady was off her call, she took some mashed potatoes I'd prepared with the kids in the morning and headed over to the school, where she helped out with Buster's class's Thanksgiving Feast. Apparently the kids had a good time, and ate well, but M-lady came home with about 90% of the mashed potatoes we'd prepared.

M-lady met Nanny J at the kids piano lesson, and Bud did his lesson first. After his lesson, Nanny J brought him to TKD, where I met then and we wished Nanny J a good weekend. Bud and I headed in, and got ready for Bud's TKD belt test.

Bud was testing for his dark red belt, which is fairly high up. It was a pretty big testing class, but being that it was the senior belts, the kids were mostly with it and kept things moving along. Bud did a good job in his test, and was honored at the end by achieving the title of 'Junior Leader'. A bunch of the other kids came up and offered their congratulations after the test, which I thought was really cool. Bud's the youngest junior leader I've seen at the school.

Bud and I picked up some food on the way home, and ate dinner when we arrived. Buster and M-lady said goodnight, as Buster was just heading to bed. The test didn't get out until about 8:15, so it was pretty late by the time Bud had eaten, showered, and gotten ready for bed. We watched a little bit of Mythbusters before turning the light out.

Rainy Wednesday

The kids were fairly good about getting up this morning, although I had to dress Buster. I got them some breakfast, and then took them to school as M-lady headed off to work. It was a little overcast in the morning, with the sun shining through occasionally.

The kids had a good day at school, and played inside in the afternoon, as it rained heavily. I met them at TKD in the evening, when the rain had let up again a bit. We said goodbye to Nanny J, and I brought the kids home.

M-lady arrived a few minutes after we did, and I got the kids started on homework pretty quickly. It was a standard evening, with homework, dinner, piano, and the bedtime routine. I read stories with Buster after giving him a shower, and he continues to impress me with his reading. We turned the light out at about 8:30 after watching one SloMoGuys video.

Personal Sound System

Buster came in around 7:00, and we rolled out of bed around 7:30. Buster was pretty good about getting himself dressed this morning, but ended up eating a huge breakfast, which took up most of the morning slack time. M-lady took the kids to school, and I headed off to work soon afterward.

The kids seem to have had a pretty good day at school, and went to TKD in the afternoon. It rained this afternoon for the first time in a few months, and the kids were pretty excited about that when I got home. Buster was just getting out of his bath, and the kids had a snack before we said goodbye to Nanny J.

M-lady was home a little late, so the kids and I watched a little bit of TV, and then got started on homework. We were just starting dinner when M-lady arrived home. Both kids ate well, and took care of piano after dinner.

Bud will be performing in his class musical in about a month, and the music teacher sent home a CD with the songs on it to listen to and practice with. I set up an old boom box in Bud's room, and showed him how to use the CD player. Bud spent some time in his room singing along with the music before getting started on his shower before bed.

I helped Buster get ready for bed, and read a story with him before M-lady came to snuggle with him for a bit. Bud and I watched some Mythbusters, and discussed various physics issues which they glossed over (or de-emphasized) in the show. It's still lots of fun to watch, though.

Another Dance Night

Buster crawled into bed early with us, and was pretty good about getting himself dressed this morning once prodded a bit. I got the kids some breakfast, and took them to school a short time later.

The kids seem to have had a good day. I arrived home around 5:30, and found M-lady already home. Nanny J made dinner, and M-lady and I helped the kids with homework while we all ate some dinner. After dinner, the kids played for a while, and around 7:15 M-lady and I headed out to go teach a dance class.

Bud was doing his piano practice as we rolled out, and the kids apparently had a good rest of the evening with Nanny J. She did catch them after lights-out time hiding with the iPads, and confiscated them. But the kids were asleep when we got home, and hopefully won't be too hard to get out of bed in the morning.

Double Performance

The kids were up a bit before we were this morning, but entertained each other while M-lady and I slept a little bit. I rolled out of bed around 8:00, and packed up to head out to a bike race. I got the kids some hot chocolate before I rolled out, and took off around 8:30.

M-lady and the kids had a good morning together, practicing piano and having more hot chocolate. A little later in the morning they headed over to Ama and Agu's house for a little while, where M-lady helped them get a holiday photo for them. The kids had fun playing there for a little while before lunch, and they arrived home while I was taking a shower after my race.

After lunch, I spent a little time hanging out with the kids. Ama and Agu arrived around 2:30, and we all headed over to a piano recital: it was Buster's first, and Bud acted as MC for the first time. Both kids did a great job in their new roles. The recital was particularly short this time, as several of the performing students cancelled. We came home after the performance, and said goodbye to Ama and Agu a few minutes later.

Bud and I tossed a football around outside for a few minutes, and then I came in while Bud stayed outside to play with the neighbors. Buster played outside for a few minutes as well, and then headed out with M-lady to run some errands. Aunt O and Cousin C arrived a short time later, and I spent some time hanging out with them before M-lady and Buster returned with dinner.

We all had a good dinner, and the kids played together for a bit before Aunt O and Cousin C headed home. Buster and I proceeded to make some cookies together, which led naturally enough to snack time. The bedtime routine was standard, and I read stories and watched a couple videos with Buster before we turned out the light at about 9:00.

Pretty Normal Thursday

The kids were a little slow to get up this morning, but not too bad, and I got them ready to go. M-lady took them to school, and I headed off for work a few minutes later. M-lady offered to volunteer in the kids classrooms this morning, but wasn't needed, so headed off to work, too.

I got home around 5:15, as the kids were getting home from TKD. Buster was a little reluctant to take a bath, but eventually did that, and was in PJs when we said goodbye to Nanny J at 5:45. Buster and I watched a little bit of the football game, and I got the kids started on homework around the time M-lady got home.

We did a pretty quiet, standard evening, with dinner, homework, and piano. The kids both did a good job on all three of those tasks. The kids and I watched a little bit more of the football game before snack time, and after helping Buster brush his teeth, I watched some Mythbusters with Bud before bed.

Minor Nose Issue

Buster woke me up at about 2:30 complaining of a bloody nose. He seemed to have kept it contained entirely within his nose, though: there wasn't blood anywhere else. After getting his nose wiped up a bit, he went back to sleep, with a tissue nearby just in case.

Both the kids were a little slow to get up in the morning, but I eventually got them downstairs for breakfast, and then out the door to school. I headed off to work, and fortunately remembered to pick them up from TKD on my way home.

M-lady had just walked in the door when we got home, and was starting to get dinner ready. After settling in for a couple minutes, I called Grandma W to wish her a Happy Birthday. The kids asked for a video chat as well, so they got to wish her a "Happy Birthday!" too. And one more for the blog: Happy Birthday, Grandma W!

The kids had a little bit of free time, and then got started on homework for a few minutes before dinner. We all ate well together, and then Bud finished up his homework while Buster did his piano. Buster took a few minutes to play Xbox while Bud did his piano, and that took us to snack time.

I read stories with Buster before bed, and M-lady and Bud apparently watched some Mythbusters together.

Tuesday, November 12, 2013

Homework Reluctance

Buster joined us in bed at about 7:00, and we all got up around 7:30. Bud, who'd been up a bit late the previous night, stayed asleep until I rolled him out at about 7:45. I got the kids some breakfast, and M-lady took them to school while I headed off to work.

The kids apparently had a good day again. They did TKD in the afternoon, and Buster had showered by the time I got home at 5:45. We said goodbye to Nanny J, and I let the kids played for a little while before I got them going on homework. Buster got a little grumpy about doing his homework, so he took a break and rested in his room for a few minutes before coming back down and finishing up.

I got dinner for Buster while Bud was still wrapping up his work, and M-lady arrived home while Buster was eating. I had a call to get on at about 7:00, so M-lady picked up getting dinner for Bud, and then overseeing piano practice. I rejoined in time to let Buster play on the Wii for about 10 minutes before snack time.

The kids had a quick snack, and then did the bedtime routine. I helped Buster brush his teeth, and then watched Mythbusters with Bud until about 9:00.

Monday, November 11, 2013

Ama and Agu Evening

The kids didn't have school today, so M-lady and I slept in a little bit. Bud was up when we got up, and had apparently woken early, but read books in his bed all morning. Buster was still asleep when we got going at about 8:30, and woke up just as I left and Nanny J arrived, around 8:45.

The kids seem to have had a good day. M-lady got home early, and I arrived home around 5:15. Bud was just getting out of the shower (and getting into PJs), and Buster was getting in when I got home. After the kids were showered, Nanny J took her leave.

M-lady had put some dinner together last night, and we fired it up and ate at about 6:00. The kids ate pretty well, and had a short time to play a little bit of Xbox before Ama and Agu arrived around 7:00. M-lady and I headed out around 7:15 to go teach a dance class, and Ama and Agu watched the kids through bedtime.

Bud and Buster did run throughs of their piano recitals in the evening for Ama and Agu, and apparently had a good time after that with snack and some iPad time before bed.

Tuckered Out

Bud woke up early this morning, probably around 6:45. He was playing with Lego in his bed when I got up around 7:00, and I said goodbye to him as I headed out for a bike race.

M-lady watched the kids this morning, and they had breakfast a bit later. I got home around 11:30. Buster came out to greet me as I brought my bike back into the garage, still wearing his PJs. I headed in and had some lunch and a shower, and then took a nap.

Aunt O and Cousin C came over, and the three kids had a great time playing together all afternoon, as near as I can tell. I was napping for some of it, and then headed out to the grocery store for a while. I heard quite a bit of happy playing from both inside and outside the house while I was here, though.

Aunt O and Cousin C had headed home by the time I got back from the grocery store. M-lady took off to run some errands shortly after, and the kids and I played some Rock Band after cleaning up a bit. We wrapped up as M-lady arrived home.

The kids spent some more time playing with Lego while M-lady put dinner together. I took the opportunity to have a call and a video chat with Grandma W and Granddad B, which Buster had fun with as well. It was good to see them.

We all had a nice dinner together, and the kids were good about helping me clean up before some friends came over around 7:00. Bud made himself scarce when company arrived, but Buster came and visited for a bit. M-lady put the kids to bed, and reported that they both fell asleep pretty quickly: all the play with their cousin this afternoon seems to have had an effect. They don't have school tomorrow, so they were able to stay up a little later than usual.

A Birthday Afternoon

The kids were up a little early this morning, but didn't come in to bother us much: they mostly played with each other. Buster has a new song (the Lego Chima theme) stuck in his head, and he was singing it repeatedly for most of the morning. M-lady headed out for ballet around 8:30, and I roused myself about 10 minutes later.

The kids weren't terribly interested in an immediate breakfast, so we all sat in bed and played with iPads for a little while before finally getting up and getting dressed. The kids had some breakfast, and I mixed up a batch of guacamole with Bud's help for Aunt O's birthday celebration. I packed the kids up at about 11:00, and we headed over to Aunt O's to celebrate her birthday with her.

Ama and Agu were already there when we arrived. The kids had a good time playing with Cousin C, and M-lady arrived a few minutes after we did. We all had a nice lunch together, and the kids enjoyed the ice cream cake as well. They played a little bit of Xbox in the later afternoon, and I headed home with the kids around 4:00.

The kids played outside for a short time after we arrived home, and then came in for a bit until M-lady arrived home at about 6:00, with dinner. We ate well, and afterward we all watched some specials from the movie we'd watched the night before, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. After the specials, I played a few minutes of Rock Band with the kids before M-lady did piano with them.

Snack and bed time were pretty straightforward, and I watched some videos with Bud before we turned out the light around 9:00.

A Planned Movie

The kids were up around the same time we were, and were pretty good about getting ready for school. I needed to be in the office a few minutes early this morning, so I got the kids all set a few minutes early and headed out, while the M-lady took the kids to school.

The kids apparently had a good day, and Nanny J took them to meet M-lady at their piano lesson in the afternoon. I picked up some dinner on the way home, and was getting dinner and the movie set up when they arrived home. We'd all agreed to watch Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs this week, so I'd picked up the disc earlier in the week and got it all set up.

We all enjoyed watching the movie, which took us until about 15 minutes after our usual snack time start. The kids had a quick snack, and I helped Buster get ready for bed. We read a few stories, and then chatted about the movie a little bit before turning out the light at about 8:45.

More Band Practice

The kids were up before we were again, and I didn't have any trouble getting them going in the morning. I took them to school again, as M-lady had an early meeting.

The kids seem to have had a good day, and had TKD in the afternoon. Both kids got tapes on their belts, which they were pretty happy about. Bud got his orange tape, which means he'll be testing at the end of the month.

I got home around 5:30, and Buster was just coming out of his bath. We said goodbye to Nanny J a short time later, and the kids played for a few minutes. M-lady had an evening work event, so it was just the kids and me. Buster attacked his piano first, and then both kids worked on homework before dinner.

The kids ate well, and after dinner I helped Bud wrap up his homework while Buster played on the Wii. When Bud had finished up homework and piano, we all played some Rock Band together before doing snack and bedtime. We set up a riser for the bass pedal on the drum for Buster, and he did a good job adding the bass to his playing.

Once the kids were ready for bed, I read a few stories with Buster, and we watched some Despicable Me minion videos before turning out the light at 8:30. Bud and I watched a little bit of Mythbusters before we turned out his light.

Differently Shaped Pasta

Everyone was up early this morning. Buster was even dressed and working on Lego by the time I got up around 7:30. Bud had woken early as well, and had spent some time reading. I got the kids breakfast, and then took them to school.

The kids seem to have had a good day. I met them at their later TKD class, and took them home after saying goodbye to Nanny J. The kids were in good spirits, and we chatted on the long drive home, delayed due to traffic. We didn't make it home until about 6:15, unfortunately.

Bud had been tired when he got home from school, so had apparently taken a nap (and not worked on homework). So after the kids changed out of their uniforms, we got them started on homework while M-lady put some dinner together. I'd picked up some fresh ravioli for dinner, which Buster was a little skeptical of, but ended up eating. Bud wolfed down a hefty portion.

The kids wrapped up homework after dinner, and tackled piano. That took us right to snack and bed time. I helped Buster get ready for bed, then handed him off to M-lady for stories while I hung out with Bud a bit. We did our usual Mythbusters, although he took longer getting ready for bed than usual, so we didn't get to watch much.

Brief Evening

Buster crawled into bed with us fairly early again, sometime before 7:00. We got up around 7:30, and the kids were pretty good about getting dressed and ready to go. I got them some breakfast, and then took them to school at the usual time.

M-lady and I arrived home around 5:30 to find the kids playing outside. It was already pretty dark, so M-lady and I had a quick chat about rules for the kids when it gets dark. I think we're going to limit them to the back yard when it's dark, in order to keep Nanny J from stressing out too much.

I hung out for a few minutes, and then headed out again to have dinner with some friends. The kids were heading in as I headed out, and I said my goodnights to them as I left. M-lady was kind enough to run the evening with the kids, overseeing homework, dinner, piano, snack, and bedtime. The kids were apparently very good during the evening, and both were asleep by the time I got home.

Getting The Band Back Together

Buster crawled into bed with us this morning pretty early, but was good about staying quiet until some time after 7:00. We got going at about 7:30, as usual, and the kids were pretty good about getting dressed and having some breakfast. M-lady had an early call, so I took the kids to school.

M-lady was already home when I got home around 5:30. The kids had apparently played outside during the afternoon, had already both bathed after coming in, and Buster had handled his piano practice, so we were already ahead on our evening chores. We said goodbye to Nanny J, and the kids started on their homework around 6:00.

The kids took a break from their homework to eat dinner, which M-lady was nice enough to put together. The kids ate well, and after dinner they finished up their homework quickly. We all played a little bit of Rock Band together, and then Bud spent some time doing his piano practice while Buster and I watched MNF. When Bud was done, he joined us again, and we went back to Rock Band until snack time.

I helped Buster get ready for bed, and we ready stories and played on the iPad until lights out at 8:30.

Temporal Adjustment

We had the extra hour last night, which meant the kids came and jumped in bed with us shortly after 6:00am. They were a little rambunctious, and got kicked out around the time I got up to start getting ready for a bike race. I headed out of the house around 8:30.

M-lady got breakfast for the kids, worked with Bud on his book report, and got both kids to practice piano. Bud was just finishing up his piano when I got home around 11:30. The kids joined me for some lunch after I'd taken a shower, and then played on the Xbox for a while as I did calls to the grandparents.

I worked with Bud for a bit to finish up and print the word search he put together for his book report, and a short time later M-lady headed out to run some errands. The kids were playing together, but after about 30 minutes I loaded up with then and we headed out to the grocery store. They were good about getting groceries, and we made it back fairly quickly.

The kids and I spent some time watching football, and wondering why it wasn't dinner time yet (it seemed so late!). I eventually got started on cooking dinner, and Buster was determine to help out. I gave him a couple of tasks, and he was very serious about doing a good job. Bud helped set the table, and we all had a nice dinner together, a little earlier by the clock than usual.

After dinner the kids and I played some Rock Band on the Xbox before snack time. It was fun to get both kids involved, and we had a good time. Snack went fairly quickly, and M-lady helped Buster take a shower in the getting ready for bed process. I watched some Mythbusters with Bud before we turned out the light at about 9:00. I don't expect the kids will have trouble getting up in the morning.

Enjoying the Weekend

The kids were up before we were this morning, but mostly entertained each other, only coming in and jumping on us occasionally. M-lady took off for ballet at about 8:30, and I got up about 9:00 and got breakfast for the kids.

The kids continued playing after breakfast, and M-lady arrived home around 11:00. A short time later, Aunt O and Cousin C showed up for a visit, and the kids played together for most of the afternoon. In fact, Bud and Buster totally forgot to have lunch until after Aunt O and Cousin C took their leave, after 2:30.

The kids ate, and Bud did most of his piano practice for the day before M-lady took the kids to the library. I met them at Red Robin for dinner, which was a bit crowded and slow, but it was nice to get out. The kids ate well, but I think Bud is outgrowing kid's meals: he's eating enough to order adult-sized portions.

We got home around 6:45, and Bud and Buster finished up their piano practice. Buster was interested in the library books he'd gotten, and spent most of the rest of the evening reading them while I hung out with him a little. We started the snack routine around 7:45, and got ready for bed after that. Buster and I did a word search together, and then read a couple of stories before turning out the light a little late in anticipation of the time change tonight.

Guests for Movie Night

The kids didn't have school today, which meant M-lady and I could sleep in a little bit. I was actually up late the previous night working, so took the opportunity to sleep in. M-lady got breakfast for the kids and turned them over to Nanny J, who arrived shortly before 9:00. I got up a little after 9:00, got myself together, and headed for work.

The kids had a good day at home. The neighbor across the street had another one of Bud's classmates over for a playdate, and Bud joined them to play outside for a while. Nanny J took the kids to their piano lesson in the late afternoon, where M-lady met them.

While they were out, Ama and Agu arrived to join us for dinner. Unfortunately, everyone was gone when they arrived, since they'd forgotten about piano. I arrived home around 5:30, and found them starting to get dinner ready. M-lady and the kids arrive a short time later, and we all got settled around the TV. Ama and Agu made 'pigs in a blanket' for dinner, which the kids really enjoyed.

We all watched the movie together, and Ama and Agu took their leave as I started getting the kids ready for bed. M-lady joined Buster to read stories with him, and I watched a little bit of Mythbusters with Bud before we turned out the light.
