Still A Little Sick

Buster joined us in bed early again, and M-lady got up with him to get him dressed. I rolled out of bed around 7:30, and got Bud moving, then got breakfast for the kids and combed their hair. M-lady took the kids to school, and I went back to bed for a while.

M-lady volunteered at Bud's class this morning, then came back home to take a meeting before heading to the office. Buster and Nanny J arrived home around noon, while I was out running a quick errand. Buster was pretty happy to see me when I got back, and showed me the alphabet book he'd been working on at school for a good part of the year.

Buster and Nanny J headed out around 2:15 to walk over to Bud's school to pick him up, and they were all back a little before 3:00. The kids settled in for a short time before getting ready to go to TKD.

M-lady arrived home about the same time as the kids, shortly after 5:00. M-lady was nice enough to hang out with the kids and get them dinner while I snoozed a little more. I woke around 7:15, and got myself some dinner. The kids were playing vigorously in the living room until it was time for Bud to do his piano practice. I got snacks for Buster, and then for Bud, and helped the kids get ready for bed. Bud and I played on the iPad for a few minutes before turning out the light at about 9:00.

Somewhat Incapacitated Daddy

The kids were up a little early this morning, and M-lady had them dressed before I even woke. I was able to sleep an extra 10 minutes, which was great. I got up and got the kids breakfast while M-lady headed out to an all-day class she was taking. The kids played for a few minutes after breakfast, and then we loaded up and headed to school.

I'm still suffering from a bit of a cold, so headed home after dropping the kids off and worked from there again today. Buster got home at about 11:30 with Nanny J, and immediately came and showed me that bag containing a present he made for me for Father's Day at school. I told him to keep it a surprise, and he headed off to hide the bag.

Buster and Nanny J picked up Bud at about 2:30, and they snacked a bit before heading off to TKD in the late afternoon. Instead of my having to tag along to bring the kids home, Nanny J was nice enough to stay a little late and bring them home. She got Buster bathed before taking off around 6:30.

I got dinner for the kids, and they ate pretty well. After dinner, I wrapped up Bud's homework with him, and then got him started on his piano practice. Buster waited patiently, and after piano was done I got Buster set up with a game on the Xbox. M-lady arrived home around 7:30, and the kids did their usual snack routine with her around 7:45.

M-lady also did the getting ready for bed, and I sat down with Buster to read a couple of stories at about 8:15. I'd read the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom to him for the first time two nights ago, and he was apparently taken with it, so we read it again tonight. Lights were out a little after 8:30, and he went to sleep pretty quickly.

A New Belt

Buster crawled into bed with us around 7:00, and was somewhat reluctant to get up when the alarm went off around 7:30. We got the kids going, though, and after getting them breakfast I took them to school while M-lady headed in for an early presentation.

I worked from home today to prevent spreading my cold around the office, and Buster was nice enough to let me snooze from about 12:30 to 1:30. Buster and Nanny J walked over to Bud's school to pick him up, and they were home a little after 2:00. After having a snack, they headed out to TKD.

I followed a short time later to attend Buster's belt ceremony for his senior green belt. During the class, the kids were working on jumping kicks, including a double snap kick (jump splits). Bud did a great job with his jumps, and Buster did remarkably well for his size. Quite a few of the other kids were landing on their butts, but Bud and Buster looked good.

Buster was great for his belt ceremony, and excited to get his new belt, of course. Afterward, they went home with Nanny J while I headed home on my own.

M-lady arrived home a short time after I did, and we said goodbye to Nanny J at 5:45. M-lady supervised Bud's homework, and we all had some dinner around 6:30. Buster was pretty good about trying some shrimp, which he doesn't normally eat, and we thanked him for trying. Bud asked a few questions about temperature, and I explained briefly about absolute zero and the Kelvin scale to the kids in response.

After dinner, I read stories with Buster while Bud did his piano practice. Snack time came up soon, and afterward I helped Buster brush his teeth before watching a flick on the iPad with Bud. We turned the lights out around 9:00, and he went to sleep pretty quickly.

No Plan Day

I woke up feeling pretty bad today, with a sore throat. M-lady headed out briefly to get some ingredients for breakfast, and then made pancakes and French toast for the boys while I slept in. M-lady was nice enough to let me sleep until about 11:30.

I got up and played with the boys, and had some lunch with them. I hung out with them for a while, and then ended up falling asleep again from about 2:00 to 4:30. Bud did his piano practice while I was napping, and the kids romped around the living room.

I woke again and had a nice chat with Grandma W before heading downstairs for dinner. The kids had constructed a fort in the living room, which didn't last very long after dinner, as Bud was interesting in setting up some stunts (I assume he picked this up from reading Jackie Chan's biography). He spent a good chunk of the evening jumping into foam block structures.

I played on the Xbox after dinner, and the kids joined me. We played until it was time to take a shower, and I got Buster cleaned up before snack time. The kids had a quick snack, and I read stories and played games with Buster until we turned the lights out around 8:30. Buster was good about going to sleep.

Impromptu Dinner Party

The kids were up a bit early, as they often are on weekends, and I got out of bed around 8:30 to get them some breakfast. M-lady headed out for ballet class a short time later, and the kids and I played some games together after breakfast. I played a game of Battleship with Buster, and then started a game of Risk with Bud, who's just learning how to play. We took a break from the game to get dressed and head out to the grocery store in the late morning.

They were good at the grocery store, and we headed to Jamba Juice to pick up smoothies for lunch on the way home. We got home around 1:00, and I unloaded groceries as the kids sucked on their smoothies. M-lady had arrived just a few minutes before we did, and joined us for lunch.

After lunch, I played with the kids a little more before getting dressed and heading out for a bike ride. While I was out, M-lady had Bud practice his piano, and both kids helped pick up the house a little bit.

I arrived home around the same time Aunt O and Cousin C arrived, and the kids immediately began playing together. I joined M-lady and Aunt O after I'd showered, and we chatted for a while. Aunt-O, Bud, and I played a game of Magic together, since Aunt O is continuing to learn how to play. After the game, Uncle C arrived, and I got started on making dinner.

A work friend of M-lady's arrived a short time later, and we all ate together. It was nice dinner and chat, and the kids ate quickly and got back to playing. Aunt O and family took their leave a few minutes before 8:00, and I got the kids snacked and ready for bed. Bud and I watched movies on the iPad before turning the light out shortly after 9:00.

Letterboxing Adventure

The kids jumped in bed with us around 7:00 this morning, and were in and out of bed several times before we got up. I set them up with an episode of Sesame Street at about 8:30, and M-lady and I rested for a bit longer before getting up.

We got dressed and had a quick breakfast, and then packed up and headed out to meet Aunt O, Uncle C, and Cousin C at a local park trail to try our hand at letterboxing. M-lady had made some quick stamp books for the kids, and brought along some small stamps for them to leave their marks as well.

We had a good time on the trail, and we found several of the hidden caches. Finding the caches was very rewarding, and kept the kids interest in the hike. We ended up hiking a bit out of our way due to some poor directions, but the weather was great and the walk was pleasant. We had to watch out for bikes on the trail a bit, but the kids were generally good about keeping out of the way of traffic.

After finishing up, we all went to lunch at a nearby restaurant. Bud ate well, but Buster passed on most of his meal. After eating we all headed over to a nearby park for a while, were the kids played happily until we headed home around 2:00.

M-lady, Buster, and I napped for a couple of hours, while Bud spent some time working on the kung fu movie screenplay he's been working on for the past couple of days. He's having a good time with that, and I'd shown him the proper script format on the computer, so I believe he's started typing up what he has.

When we got up, I had a nice chat with Granddad B and Grandma Nese while Buster snuggled me and woke himself up a bit. After the chat, I headed out to pick up some dinner: sushi at Buster's request. While I was out picking it up, Bud did most of his piano practice, and we ate well when I got back.

After dinner, we had some family time, and we all put together a puzzle, then played a game of Junior Catan, which Bud won. After the game, Bud wrapped up his piano, and we watched the end of the movie we'd started the previous day before doing snack and bedtime. Buster was still up around 9:15, since he'd taken the long nap during the day, but eventually dropped off.

Solid Test

The kids were up fairly early, even though Bud didn't need to get ready for school, as he had the day off. I helped get Buster ready, and M-lady took him to school while I hung out with Bud for a bit. Nanny J arrived at about 9:00, and I headed off for work.

Bud apparently had a good time doing some grocery shopping with Nanny J, helping her pick out some new foodstuffs. They came back with all sorts of fruits, including some huge peaches and a large bag of cherries. They picked up Buster around lunchtime, and had a pleasant afternoon.

M-lady arrived home in time to take Bud to piano, and Nanny J departed with Buster to bring him to the TKD studio for his next belt test. I met them there around 5:00, and after Buster got started on his test, Nanny J took her leave.

The test wasn't nearly as crowded as some have been in the past, and there were many more orange belts testing rather than green belts. Buster was the smallest green belt, but acquitted himself pretty well. He was really patient, sitting quietly while the orange belts had their test. He displayed solid knowledge of his forms and techniques, and his movements are starting to get a little better as well. He did a good job breaking his board, and answered his oral question straight away.

I was proud of him, and let him know as we headed home. He took a quick shower when we got home, and then we all proceeded to watch the first half of Kung Fu Panda while eating dinner in front of the TV. We stayed up a little later than usual, and then did snack and bedtime. I watched a video on the iPad with Bud until it was time to turn out the lights.

Elementary School Musical

M-lady was in meetings for most of the night, and the kids were up early this morning. They were playing Magic with each other when I got out of bed around 7:30. They were pretty good about getting ready to go, and I took them both to school.

M-lady headed over to Bud's school mid-morning to volunteer, and then stayed to watch the dress rehearsal of Bud's 2nd grade musical. The kids apparently did a good job, and M-lady headed back home after the show ended.

I attended the official show a bit after 1:00, and got to watch Bud sing in a couple of numbers with other kids from his class. He was anxious to find me in the crowd in the beginning, but once he found me was very comfortable on stage. After the show ended, I congratulated him on a job well done, and headed home. Nanny J and Buster had just arrived to pick Bud up, and Buster got to share in the treat given to the kids after the show: popsicles.

M-lady napped in the afternoon, and the kids headed to TKD while I worked from home. Buster was really interested in getting some Magic cards when he got home, so I exchanged some card packs with him for points. He was excited to open the packs, and I went through his cards with him. Bud opted to get some packs as well.

Bud wrapped up his homework quickly, and doesn't have school tomorrow, so he's done for the weekend. I ate dinner with Buster, and then set Buster up on the Xbox while making dinner for M-lady and Bud. Bud played a little bit of Xbox with Buster until snack time, and then did his piano with M-lady while I got Buster ready for bed. Buster and I read stories until it was time to turn the light out at about 8:30.

Medical Permission

M-lady was up early this morning, and Buster crawled into bed looking for her at about 7:00. When he didn't find her, he headed off to the office, and hung out with her for a bit there. Bud was up a bit early, too, asking to play Risk.

I got Bud going while M-lady got Buster dressed, and I got breakfast for the kids. They were ready to go on time, and I took Bud to school while M-lady took Buster.

M-lady came home early in the afternoon to snooze a bit, since she needed to attend meetings most of the night. Buster bugged her a bit, but she got to nap when the kids headed off to TKD. I met them at the doctor's office on the way to TKD so they could check Buster's TB test, and sign off on his kindergarten medical documentation. That only took a moment to get squared away, and the kids headed to TKD while I went back to work briefly.

I met the kids as they were getting out of TKD, and we said goodbye to Nanny J. On the way home, Bud asked how a car worked, so I gave the kids a quick rundown on the major systems. I dropped the kids off with M-lady at home a little after 6:00, and headed out to race my bike at the velodrome.

M-lady and the kids apparently had a good evening. Bud was good about doing his homework and practicing piano, and kids ate reasonably well. Buster was asleep when I got home around 9:00, and Bud was just going to bed. I said goodnight, and turned out his light for him.

New Math Again

M-lady was up early this morning, and I rolled out of bed around 7:30. I woke Bud after I got dressed, and then tried to rouse Buster. It took some work, but I eventually got him dressed and out of bed.

The kids had breakfast, and I took Buster to school while M-lady took Bud. The drop off went smoothly, and I headed off to work.

The kids seem to have had a good day. I got home around 4:45, and found M-lady already home. The kids arrived home from TKD with Nanny J a few minutes later. Buster took his bath, and we said goodbye to Nanny J around 5:45.

Bud was good about doing his homework, and I got dinner together for the kids while M-lady headed out to attend an information session at Bud's school about the new math curriculum that will be instituted next year. I got Bud to run through his piano, and Buster played a little bit of Xbox before snack time.

M-lady got back at snack time, reporting that the new curriculum is generally a good thing, with more explanation of the why's, rather than just rote learning of methods for solving problems. The kids had their snacks, and Bud did a little more piano practice with M-lady while I got Buster ready for bed. Buster and I read a few stories, and then Buster read with M-lady while I hung out with Bud for a bit.

I introduced Bud to the game Risk, and we got through about half a game on the iPad before it was time to turn the lights out.

Last Preschool Open House

Buster crawled in bed with us fairly early, and I got up around 7:30 to get things started. Bud was up reading already, and was good about getting dressed. M-lady helped Buster get dressed, and I got the kids some breakfast.

Today was the first of two 'Pirate Day's for Buster, and I found Bud's old eyepatch for Buster to wear. He was pretty excited about it, but I couldn't convince him to wear a bandana on his head. M-lady took Buster to school, and I took Bud.

The kids had their annual doctor's checkup in the afternoon, and M-lady and I met Nanny J and the kids at the doctor's office. The kids checked out fine, and we had a nice chat with the doctor. Buster had his last batch of vaccinations before 6th grade, and Bud is done until that age as well. Buster was good about the injections, and happy to get a sticker afterward.

Nanny J took the kids home, and I headed back to work briefly. I got home around 5:30, and after we said goodbye to Nanny J and Bud put some effort in on his homework, we all loaded up and headed out to Buster's open house. We got to see some of the projects Buster's been doing at school, and he spent a little time playing on the playground as well. The preschool was celebrating their 40th year, so there were some brief recognition of teachers, and more importantly for the kids, a birthday cake. Buster ate his slice after waiting patiently, and we headed home shortly after.

We all had some dinner together, and Bud wrapped up his homework. We got snacks for the kids, and I got Buster ready for bed while M-lady did piano with Bud. Buster and I read a bunch of stories together, and had a pretty good time until we turned out the light at about 8:30. He fell asleep pretty quickly.

Skipping The Faire

M-lady got up with the kids this morning, and discovering that there wasn't any milk, made a quick run to the grocery store before making breakfast. I got up as breakfast was happening, and the kids were happily munching away. I had some breakfast as well, and Aunt O and Cousin C arrived a short time later.

We'd considered all going to Maker Faire together, but given that M-lady and I were both pretty tired, we weren't really up for facing the crowds. We'll make an effort to get there next year.

The kids had fun playing together, and I played a couple games of Magic with Bud. Aunt O and Cousin C took their leave shortly after they had lunch, as the rest of us were sitting down to eat. After lunch, I worked with Bud to print up some 'token' Magic cards, which we had a good time working on.

Bud and I headed out to the Magic card store in the afternoon, and then did the grocery shopping. I picked up some dinner supplies and belated Mother's Day flowers for M-lady, and then got started on cooking dinner shortly after getting home. Bud worked on his piano with M-lady while I was cooking dinner, and we all ate together a short time later. Buster was particularly hungry.

After dinner, the kids played a little bit outside while I cleaned up the grill a little bit. The kids came in around snack time, and got to have some treats M-lady brought from her trip. They each had a quick bath, and got ready for bed. M-lady read stories with Buster, and at Bud's request we worked on more token Magic cards until it was time for him to go to bed as well.

Unplanned Fun Day

I got up with the kids a little after 8:00, and we had some breakfast together. The kids were nearly dressed when Nanny J arrived at 9:00. I had thought Nanny J was coming to hang out with the kids, but she brought her husband, and they were planning to take the kids out to the park. I hurried the kids up to finish getting ready, and they headed out together.

I went for a bike ride, and got home a bit later than I'd planned, at about 10 to 1:00. Fortunately, they arrived home about 5 minutes after I did. They'd gone out to lunch, and the kids were really excited to tell me about their morning, and the fact that they'd gotten ice cream after lunch. They said goodbye and thank you to Nanny J and her husband, and we headed inside for a bit. I had some lunch and a shower, and then chilled with the kids for a bit.

A short time later, Aunt O and Cousin C came over. The kids immediately started playing together, and had a good afternoon. Bud took some time to play a game of Magic with Aunt O, and Buster and Cousin C spent some time playing on the Xbox.

Uncle C showed up a bit after 5:00, bringing dinner with him. Everyone ate well, and the kids played a little bit more before our visitors took their leave, around 6:30. I got the kids showered, and we did the snack and bedtime routine. They were really excited about M-lady arriving, and Buster promised me he'd stay up until she arrived. His light had been out for about 15 minutes when she came in, and both kids got up to say hello. M-lady took the opportunity to snuggle with both boys before they went to sleep.

Another Disney Flick

The kids were a little slower getting up this morning, and I almost had to drag Buster out of bed. I managed to get them downstairs for breakfast, though and we finished up the last of the treat cereal which I'd gotten for them this week.

I dropped the kids off at school with no fuss, and then headed back home to work from there for the morning. I was just wrapping up a phone call when Buster arrived home with Nanny J. They got some lunch as I packed up and headed out to spend part of the afternoon watching Stage 6 of the Tour of California.

I got back a little after 4:00, and showed some of the photos I'd taken to Buster before I packed up with Bud and took him to his piano lesson. He did a good job at the lesson, and we got home around 5:45. The kids wanted to play outside for a bit, so I hung out with them out there after saying goodbye to Nanny J.

We ordered a pizza for dinner, and the kids came inside when it arrived. They cleaned up and we all ate in front of the TV. We watched a couple of songs from Les Mis at Buster's request, and then I fired up The Great Mouse Detective, which was available on Netflix. There was a slightly scary part at the very beginning, which rattled Buster, but he came back to watch the rest with us after a short break.

We watched the whole movie, and started snacktime a bit after 8:00. The kids had a quick snack, and got ready for bed. I read a couple stories with Buster, and we ended up turning his light out around 8:45. Then I hung out with Bud for a bit, playing Boggle on the iPad, turning his light out a bit after 9:00.

Bud complained of not being able to fall asleep because he was dwelling on the scary parts of the movie. I suggested that he try to think of something else for a bit, and then let him read for a bit before he fell asleep.

Reading Skills

It was a little drizzly this morning, and I had to roll the kids out of bed around 7:30. M-lady called a few minutes later, and the kids had a brief video chat with her before finishing getting dressed and heading for breakfast.

I dropped the kids off at their respective schools, and headed off to work. The kids seem to have had a pretty standard day. Buster was still in his TKD uniform when I got home, but had a bath a few minutes later. We said goodbye to Nanny J at 5:45, and Bud got started on his homework.

Bud had a bit more homework than usual, so it took a while to get through it. Meanwhile, Buster was hungry and asked for dinner, so he ate while we were working on it. After we wrapped up the homework, Bud and I ate dinner as well. After dinner, Buster played a little bit of Xbox while I did piano with Bud.

Bud had a few minutes of Xbox time with Buster before snack time. After snack, Buster was good about getting ready for bed, and we read some stories together. His reading is improving rapidly, and he's entirely capable of reading stories to himself now. After tucking him in, I hung out with Bud for a few minutes before we turned out the light.

Buster was still up, so I sat with him for a few minutes. He passed out almost immediately when I sat with him.

Bug Day

The kids slept in a bit more this morning, getting up at the same time I did. We had a quick video chat with M-lady, and then the kids were good about getting ready. We dropped Bud off at school, and then I took Buster to his field trip at a local youth science center.

The kids all trooped off after the teachers when I dropped him off, and spent an hour learning about bugs. He was very excited to tell me about a tarantula he saw when I picked him up an hour later. We chatted about some of the other insects and spiders he saw as we headed home. Nanny J met us there, and I headed off for work a short time later.

The kids had a good day, and I met them at TKD after I headed out from work. They were working on kicks, and Bud looked to be doing particularly well. I brought them home from TKD, and got Buster into the bathtub while Bud tackled his homework. We got dinner going when Bud finished. Buster ate particularly well, polishing off the equivalent of two meals.

After dinner, Buster played on the Xbox for a little while, as Bud did his piano practice. It was snack time when Bud wrapped up, and the kids had a quick snack as they'd both eaten pretty big dinners. Buster got himself ready for bed, and I read some stories with him, where he demonstrated that his reading is getting better and better. We played on the iPad for a few minutes before turning out the light as well.

Bud had taken a shower while I was putting Buster to bed, and he and I watched videos on the iPad before we turned the light out around 9:00.

Ticking Along

Buster jumped into bed with me about 6:00 this morning, and asked me to get him some breakfast about 15 minutes later. I managed to put him off for a bit, and he wandered away eventually, singing fairly loudly. I finally got up around 7:20, and found Bud up as well, reading. Since the kids were up and anxious for breakfast, the morning routine was quick.

The kids had good days at school, and Nanny J looked after them in the afternoon. They headed to TKD as well, and Buster apparently got his last tape, indicating that he's ready to test at the next cycle. He let me know this as soon as I got home, around 5:30.

After settling in, we said goodbye to Nanny J and I hung out with the kids for a bit. Bud make quick work of his homework, and we had a fairly early dinner. The kids ate well, and after dinner Bud tackled his piano with minimal nagging. Buster and I played a little bit of Xbox, and Bud and I spent some time trading Magic cards before snack time.

The kids had a quick snack, and were good about getting themselves ready for bed. Buster read a book to himself, and was actually reading the words: he's getting very good at that. We ended up reading stories all the way to lights-out. Bud and I watched some Jackie Chan videos before we turned the lights out half an hour later.

Good Kids

Buster crawled into bed with me around 7:00 this morning, and I got out of bed around 7:20. I turned the video endpoint on, got myself dressed, and exhorted Buster to do the same. He was about halfway dressed when M-lady called, and we had a quick video chat before continuing the morning routine.

The kids were up after the call, and were good about getting dressed. I revealed the 'treat' cereal I'd picked up for them over the weekend, which provides a little extra motivation in the mornings when I'm running solo. They were more than satisfied, and were ready to go a good ten minutes early. The school dropoffs went without issue.

The kids seem to have had a good day. I got home about 5:30, and Buster was playing Mousetrap with Nanny J while Bud was reading a bit. After saying goodbye to Nanny J, I got Bud working on his homework and Buster starting to pick up a bit, since the cleaners were going to arrive tomorrow. After Bud finished his homework, we got some dinner.

The kids ate pretty well, and afterward Bud did his piano practice while I cleaned up with Buster a bit more. Bud pitched in when he finished up his piano, and we had everything picked up by about 7:30. Buster and I played a little bit of Xbox before snack time.

The kids had a quick snack, and then headed upstairs to get ready for bed. Buster got himself into PJs, and Bud took his shower. I read some stories with Buster, and then watched some Jackie Chan videos with Bud. Bud was interested in Jackie Chan, so I dug up the autobiography I have of his. Bud got into the first chapter before bed.

Mother's Day In Absentia

The kids were up around 8:00ish, and had breakfast with Ama and Agu before I got a chance to make them pancakes as I'd planned. I got up around 9:00, and discovered that Target was already open, so got myself ready and loaded the kids up for a quick trip. They were anxious to spend their allowance money, and had already picked out some items.

Both kids picked out new lightsabers (like they need more), but these don't light up and make noise: they just fold up entirely into the handle, and have a belt clip. Bud finds these attributes compelling, and Buster followed suit. Bud also picked up a deck of Magic cards, and Buster picked out a small Lego set.

Happy with their acquisitions, we headed home. I realized it was Mother's Day at that point, and prompted the kids to wish Ama a Happy Mother's Day when we got home. The kids played with their purchases for a bit, and we had a nice video chat with Grandma W before lunch.

The kids ate a good lunch, and afterward I ran out to Home Depot to pick up some lightbulbs. The kids stayed home and played with the grandparents. When I got back, the grandparents ran out, and I played a game of Magic with Bud.

Aunt O, Uncle C, and Cousin C arrived around 2:30, and brought a cake with them to celebrate the day. We all had some cake, and the kids played together for a chunk of the afternoon. Buster came by occasionally to watch some of the first stage of the Tour of California with me and Uncle C, but was happy playing with Bud and Cousin C for the most part.

After the visiting family took their leave, dinner time came up quickly. I made dinner for the family, and Bud ate well. Buster had a little meltdown when I scolded him for not coming to the table quickly enough, and ended up eating his dinner a bit later.

After eating, Bud did a good job on his piano practice, and had the rest of the evening to play with lightsabers. We played a little bit of Rock Band together, and snack time came up pretty quick.

After snack, we got ready for bed. Both kids said goodbye and Happy Mother's Day to Ama and Agu, since they'll be taking off early tomorrow. I got both the kids situated in bed, and they fell asleep pretty quickly.

Ama And Agu Helping Out

Buster joined us in bed around 7:00, and Bud was up a short time later. M-lady got up fairly early to finish up packing. Around 9:00, Ama and Agu arrived with Cousin C, just as I was getting breakfast for the kids.

After the kids had eaten some breakfast, they started playing with Cousin C. M-lady continued to pack until she took off around 10:00 to head off for a business trip for a week. Ama and Agu got their stuff settled in, as they'll be staying for the weekend.

The kids played some Xbox and iPad before lunch. Ama and Agu got lunch for the kids, and I headed out to a bike race about that time. Apparently Aunt O came over at lunch time as well for a bit, then took Cousin C home in the afternoon.

I got home around 4:30. Buster was playing Battleship with Ama, and Bud was reading in his room. I hung out with the kids a bit, then headed out again around 5:30 to go to a friend's housewarming party. The kids apparently had a good evening with Ama and Agu. Before leaving, I promised the kids to spend all day with them tomorrow, including making them the breakfast of their choice. Hopefully they'll be willing to wait until a bit after 7:00.

Meeting Some Other Characters

Buster crawled into bed with us around 6:00am, and was very chatty. He wanted to stay in bed when I got up to get the kids going at 7:30, though. Eventually I got him dressed, and Bud was ready to go in plenty of time. The kids had some breakfast, and I took Bud to school while M-lady took Buster.

The kids seem to have had a good day. M-lady got home in time to take Bud to his piano lesson, where he did very well. I got home with dinner a few minutes after M-lady got home, just as Nanny J was leaving. I got dinner together in front of the TV, and we turned on Looney Tunes.

We turned out a set of toons of Daffy and Porky, so the kids got exposed to some new characters. Sylvester showed up for the first time as well. The kids have not yet seen Tweety Bird, Speedy Gonzales, or Foghorn Leghorn yet, though. They eventually requested to see some more Road Runner cartoons, though.

We watched videos until snack time, and I put Bud to bed. We played on the iPad a bit before turning out the light a little after 9:00.

A Brief Visit

We did a fairly standard routine this morning. Buster was slow getting up, but once I got him dressed he was good about having breakfast and getting ready to go. I took Buster to school while M-lady took Bud, and volunteered at his school in the morning.

I came home again after dropping Buster off, and rode my bike to work (for Ride to Work day). The kids apparently had a good day at school, and went to TKD in the afternoon. Ama and Agu arrived in the afternoon as well, and I found Buster playing with them when I arrived home in the evening.

Buster was pretending to prepare food for them, and kept at it while Bud did his homework. We had dinner a short time later. After dinner, Bud did his piano practice with Ama and Agu as audience, and I played a little bit of Xbox with Buster. Bud took my spot when he finished up, and the kids played together until snack time. Ama and Agu headed out around that time to go stay with Aunt O, Uncle C, and Cousin C.

After snack, I read a Star Wars book we'd gotten from the library with Buster. His reading had improved quite a bit... I expect he'll be able to read to himself pretty soon. We turned the light out a bit after 8:30.

More Of Their Favorite

Bud was up around the time we were getting up this morning, but I had to rouse Buster, who was a bit slow getting up. He eventually came to, and I got them some breakfast. The kids were ready to go on time, and I took Bud to school while M-lady took Buster.

The kids had a good day. I picked them up from TKD, and we said goodbye to Nanny J. We listened to the Beauty and the Beast soundtrack on the way home, and both kids seemed to like that pretty well. I dropped them off with M-lady when we got home, and headed off to my Wednesday Night Bike Racing.

The kids were good for M-lady. Bud whipped through his homework, and then did his piano after dinner. Buster took a shower after dinner, and then the kids and M-lady just had time to watch a few songs from M-lady's new DVD: the Les Mis 10th anniversary concert. They watched a couple of big songs, and sang them, and then headed off for bed. At bedtime, Buster watched some more Les Mis on iPad, but Bud had watched enough and opted to do something else at bedtime.

Trip Presents

The kids were pretty good about getting going this morning, and had their breakfast and got ready in time for me to take them to school. M-lady had an early meeting, so headed off to work while we were still getting ready.

After dropping the kids off at school, I headed in to the office. I got home around 5:00, just as they were arriving home from TKD. They'd enjoyed class, and since it was a 'fun day' (first day after a testing day at the studio), they got candy for completing the class. They shared their candy with each other, and then got cleaned up.

Buster hung out with me a little bit, and M-lady arrived home and got Bud started on his homework. I worked with Bud a little bit on his division problems before we all had some dinner.

Both kids ate well, and after dinner Bud did a solid piano practice. After he finished up, I gave the kids the presents I'd brought back from my trip: puzzle books. I got a word search book for Buster, and a Sudoku book for Bud. They spent the rest of the evening working on puzzles.

Snack time came up pretty quickly, and the kids ate a bunch of fruit before getting ready for bed. I read a library book with Buster before we played on the iPad for a few minutes, and turned the light out a little bit after 8:30. He was asleep pretty quickly.

Safely Home

I was gone for the weekend, visiting Aunt K and family to celebrate her graduation. Way to go, Aunt K!

I arrived home today after a long weekend, landing at the airport a little after 1:00 and getting home around 2:30 after stopping to pick up some lunch on the way home. Nanny J and Buster were out picking up Bud from school, and they got home a few minutes after I'd settled in.

The kids were excited to see me, and Buster came to hang out with me for most of the afternoon. I snoozed a bit between sessions on the computer catching up with work, and Buster snuggled with me a bit. M-lady arrived home in time to say goodbye to Nanny J, and I got myself up to help get some dinner for the kids. Bud had completed his homework earlier in the afternoon on my suggestion, so just had to do piano after dinner.

The kids played on the Xbox for a bit after Bud finished up his piano, and then had watermelon and strawberries for snack which M-lady had picked up with them over the weekend. I helped Buster get ready for bed, and then handed him off to Lady M while I played on the iPad with Bud for a bit before bedtime. We turned the lights out around 9:00.

It's great to be home, and the family seems happy to have me back.

Finding Goldbug

The kids invaded our bed fairly early again this morning, and were enjoying snuggling with M-lady before I got up and got them started on the morning routine. M-lady helped get Buster dressed, and the kids headed down to breakfast at a reasonable time. I got them breakfast and combed hair, as usual, and then dropped both kids off before heading off to work.

The kids seem to have had a good day. Nanny J took them to TKD, and Buster was just having his shower when I got home around 5:00. Bud had done STAR testing again today, but wasn't effusive about it when asked.

M-lady arrived home a bit after 5:30, and said goodbye to Nanny J as I fell asleep for a bit. M-lady was nice enough to get Bud going on homework. I rose around 6:30 and got dinner together for the kids, who ate pretty well. After dinner Bud did his piano with M-lady, and Buster and I spent time reading a Richard Scarry book. Goldbug was hiding on every page, and we had a good time looking for him. Bud even joined us for the last couple pages.

I got the snack for the kids which M-lady had prepared after that, and then we started the bedtime routine. I helped get Buster into his PJs, then handed him off to M-lady. Bud seemed to have acquired a good-sized blister on the big toe of his right foot, so I got some moleskin for him after he'd showered. We watched a little bit of video on the iPad before turning the light out around 9:00.

Out For Racing

The kids were up and in our bed before the alarm went off, and Bud was good about heading back to his room to get dressed. Buster took a little more convincing, but eventually got himself dressed and we did the breakfast thing. I combed their hair, and M-lady took them to school. I headed off to work a short time later.

The kids had good days at school, and spent the afternoon with Nanny J. I met them at TKD in the afternoon, and took them home after they were done and we said goodbye to Nanny J. We listened to the Aladdin soundtrack on the way home, and the kids and I both sang along.

M-lady was just getting home as we got home, and I dropped the kids off with M-lady before heading out again to race my bike for the evening. M-lady said the kids were good for the evening: Bud did a good job on his homework and piano, and Buster had fun dressing up in his Jedi robe and playing with his lightsaber. I got home a bit after 9:00, and the kids had been tucked in bed and were already asleep.
