Farm Party

Bud was up a little before 7:00, and Buster woke up soon afterward. Bud was a bit put out when I suggested we not head downstairs to watch TV immediately, but ended up hanging out with me a bit in his room anyways. We headed down around 7:30, and watched some TV before getting breakfast.

After getting dressed and ready (and getting the home network jump-started again), Bud and I headed out to Friend F's birthday party. It was held at a local farm, and we arrived a few minutes before the farm tour kicked off. There were about a dozen four-year-olds in attendance, with about a parent for each.

We walked around the farm, following an amiable tour guide, and Bud had the opportunity to pet a cow, pet a pig, feed chickens, and get up-close looks at chicks, piglets, pregnant goats, and week-old lambs and their mothers. He was just a little shy, generally staying close to me, but had a great time. After the tour we headed back to the designated picnic tables, where we had some lunch and birthday cake.

Bud didn't want to go in when we got home, so he played out front while I picked some oranges. We took some time to go for a walk around the block, and Bud showed off his much-improved pedaling skills. On our return, I greased the axles of his tricycle to kill the incessant squeaking which had plagued our brief outing.

We headed inside a short time after that, and joined M-lady and Buster in a second lunch/significant afternoon snack. After eating, I took Buster upstairs and snoozed with him for about an hour.

Bud woke us up by pounding on his bedroom wall, which is also our bedroom wall. After spending a few minutes fixing up some more of the home network, M-lady took off to do some grocery shopping while I watched the kids. Buster had discovered that he could bounce one of his balls, and was happily bouncing away in his play pen, while Bud played on Sesame Street.org. I did a little more tweaking on the home network, and then had a nice video chat with Granddad B and Grandma Nese.

Buster was a bit suspicious of the folks on the screen for a the beginning of the chat, but gave some coy smiles by the end. Bud looked up from his website long enough to wave a couple of times.

We got started on dinner before M-lady returned, so it was on the table shortly after she came in the door. Both kids ate well. After dinner I got a very hyper Bud into the shower and cleaned up. After the shower, it was into PJs and some TV before a snack and bedtime. He was in bed a little later than usual, around 8:45, but had really been very good all day. He was asleep before 9:00.

Buster fell asleep around the same time, but woke once at about 10:00. I let him sleep on my shoulder for a little while before putting him back down.

Dark Evening

Sorry this post is a day late: there were technical difficulties, as detailed below.

Bud came and got me at about 7:00, wanting his diaper removed. At about 7:30, right before we headed downstairs to watch some TV, the power went out. So we got some breakfast and hung out until Nanny J arrived at 8:45. M-lady took Bud to school, and I stayed home to make sure the power came back on at some point.

Power did come back on around 10:00, and I headed to work after setting all the clocks.

Bud, Buster, and Nanny J had a good day together. I got home around 5:00, and M-lady arrived a few minutes later. We had a nice chat with Nanny J before she took her leave for the weekend. We were just settling in when the power went out again, right about 5:30.

As it was getting dark, we put fresh batteries in some of the flashlights and got out some candles. Bud has a toy (although working) flashlight that I put some fresh batteries in, and he had a great time with that all evening. We cooked some mac and cheese on the gas stovetop, and had a nice candlelit dinner together. Buster insisted on eating a large amount of cereal.

After dinner Bud and Buster and I read a story together before bed. M-lady and I had been planning on getting Babysitter G to come over around bedtime and heading out to a dance. Bud was looking forward to seeing us in our dancing clothes (he thinks M-lady's dresses are pretty). That plan was endangered since the power didn't come on until just before the babysitter arrived.

The power came back on around 7:30, but unfortunately our network connection was still out (thus the delayed posting). Bud really wanted to see a Lego Star Wars YouTube clip before bed, but was disappointed. Babysitter G arrived around 8:00, and Bud waved goodnight to her before trotting off to bed.

Buster was grumpy about going to bed, and finally dropped off around 9:00, allowing M-lady and I to make our escape. Buster woke again at 10:00, and it took Babysitter G an hour or so to get him back to sleep. He had just dropped of when M-lady and I got back.

Family Time

Bud was up once during the night around 2:15, and I slept with him for a little while. Buster was up around 5:00, but slept with us in our bed until around 7:00. Bud came and got me out of bed around 7:30, needing to poop.

Ama helped Bud get dressed and get some breakfast, and M-lady and I kept an eye on Buster while we got dressed and ready for work. I was able to take off around 8:30, as Bud was more interested in playing with the grandparents than with me.

The kids had a good day with the grandparents and Nanny J. They apparently ate pretty well, although Nanny J reported that Buster fussed when given a biter biscuit. M-lady and I theorized that he might have gotten frustrated with the biscuit if he were actually hungry at the time: it's really more of an edible chew toy than food.

Ama and Agu left to go over to Aunt O and Uncle C's place in the afternoon, and I got home around 5:00. Bud stuck close while I dropped my stuff, and Buster seemed happy to see me as well. Buster waved his hand to Nanny J when she left, although he didn't verbalize his goodbye.

When M-lady got home a few minutes later, all four of us ended up playing together on the floor in our bedroom. We had a good time roughhousing and rolling around together as a family for quite some time.

Eventually we got up and headed downstairs to get some dinner. Bud ate pretty well, and Buster enjoyed a biter biscuit while we ate. After dinner, I got Bud bathed before we all settled in to watch America's Best Dance Crew together.

Bud was a little reluctant to go to bed after that, but I eventually got him tucked in a bit after 8:30. He was asleep a short time later. M-lady reported that Buster fell asleep pretty quickly this evening. Both kids have slept fine so far.

Second Word

Both the kids slept pretty well through the night, although Bud got me up around 3:00 to sleep with him for a little while. Buster woke about 7:30. M-lady was off taking care of him when Bud wandered in around 7:45, letting me know that he had to poop.

Bud got dressed and headed downstairs for breakfast with Ama while I got ready for work. He was pretty much ready to go to school at about 8:30, so got to play with Agu for a few minutes before Nanny J arrived.

I got home from work around 5:00, and Nanny J took her leave a short time later. Bud had a good day, and let me know that he'd taken a walk with Ama and Agu in the afternoon. Bud had also reportedly been eating all day.

For the past few weeks, every time Nanny J leaves, I hold Buster, and both Nanny J and I say, "Bye-bye", and wave, and I wave Buster's hand. So far, no reaction.

M-lady arrived a few minutes later, and Ama had dinner on the table a short time after that. Bud ate a big meal, and I offered Buster a 'biter biscuit' for the first time. He was pretty pleased with himself as he chomped on it and got biter biscuit goo all over his face and hands.

After dinner Bud and I played a little bit of Rock Band together, but he got tired pretty quickly. He had some ice cream as dessert after eating a good dinner, and then we headed up to bed about an hour early. After doing the whole bedtime routine, we turned the lights out around 7:30.

At that point Bud decided he was hungry again, so we descended for a quick snack before heading back up to brush teeth again and go to bed. Bud fell asleep pretty quickly after getting tucked in before 8:00.

When M-lady was about to take Buster up to bed, she said, "Bye-bye" to Ama and Agu. Buster waved his hand and said, "Bye-bye". He's got his second word! And first sign! Hopefully the others will start coming quickly: we've been working on the signs for 'more', 'hungry', and 'all done'.

Fun Visitors

Buster was up this morning around 7:00, and M-lady got up with him. Buster wandered in around 7:45, complainign of a wet bed. His diaper had overfilled, so we got him out of his wet pajamas, cleaned up, and into some clean clothes. Then I stripped his bed and we headed downstairs to get some breakfast.

M-lady had a phone call to attend to at 8:00, so I took Buster as well. We all played together a little bit before Nanny J arrived at about 8:45.

When I arrived home around 5:00, Bud was having a great time playing lightsabers with Agu. Ama and Agu had arrived in the afternoon, and Bud was ecstatic. Buster was a bit wary, and clinging to Nanny J. He was pretty happy to see me home.

Nanny J took her leave, and M-lady arrived home a short time later. We had a good dinner, and Bud played with Agu a little more before I got him into the bath tub. Bud was really cooperative all evening, which was nice.

Bud played some Lego Star Wars with Ama and I before having a snack and heading for bed. After lying in bed with lights out for about ten minutes, Bud decided he was still hungry, so we headed downstairs for one more snack. Bud went to sleep on his own pretty quickly after that.

Buster is insisting on more of the fruit and vegetable puffs with each meal. He takes a bite of baby food, then munches on a puff, then eats another bite of baby food. I think we're nearing the end of smooshy carrots.

Buster was in bed before Bud this evening, which was unusual. He's been sleeping well so far.

Coloring

Bud decided to sleep in this morning, but Buster was up pretty early. M-lady got up with him first, and handed him to me at about 7:30, when he needed his second outfit change. Buster and I hung out in his playpen for a while before we got up to see where Bud was.

I opened Bud's window to let some light in at about 8:15, and he was up at about 8:20. He was a bit groggy for about 5 minutes, but then realized it was a school day and got himself dressed pretty quickly. We headed downstairs and got some breakfast while M-lady took Buster for a bit.

Bud was excited to see the new kitchen table, and his little craft table in the breakfast nook. He also had a new chair for the kitchen table, which he seemed to like as well. He managed to finish up breakfast in time to head for class, and after suiting up in rain gear we got there just as the door was opening up.

Bud and Buster had a good day with Nanny J, although Bud reportedly is still not eating quite as much as he used to. He did take a bath during the day, though, which meant more time hanging out together in the evening, which was nice.

I got home a little after 5:00, and after Nanny J left the three of us played in the living room together, rolling balls around and horsing about. I played just a little bit of hide and seek with Bud, who still isn't quite grasping the concept, as he continues to announce where he's going to hide while I'm counting. We had a lot of fun, though.

We watched a little Food Network to settle down before M-lady arrived home, and then got started on dinner. Bud didn't eat much, but Buster tried some of the spaghetti. He's really intent on eating everything that we're eating, now.

After dinner, Bud, Buster and I were hanging out in the playroom when Bud decided that he wanted to do some coloring. We had a minor issue where he accidentally pulled some puzzles off the shelf while trying to get his giant coloring pirate poster, but it was quickly resolved. Bud and I had a good time coloring the poster together sitting at his new craft table.

The bedtime routine was pretty standard, and Bud was in bed with lights out around 8:20. He fell asleep pretty quickly. Buster was asleep a short time later, and woke once around 10:30, but was back to sleep before too long.

Celebrating Our Swedish Heritage

Buster was up this morning a little before 6:00, and M-lady brought him to our bed. He was a bit thrashy, so I got up and tried to rock him to sleep. He resisted, and M-lady joined me at about 6:45. We discovered a fairly wet diaper, which he'd clearly been trying to tell us about.

M-lady took Buster at that point, and was joined quickly by Bud, who woke a short time later. I managed to sleep for a while as M-lady engaged Bud about what he might like for his upcoming birthday party.

Bud actually helped feed Buster while breakfast happened, handing Buster little crackers while M-lady got packed up for an outing later in the morning. I joined them a little after 9:00, and we were shortly in two cars heading for Ikea.

Ikea is a bit like Disneyland for M-lady. We were there when the store opened at 10:00, so we got good parking spaces. Bud was really, really well behaved as we walked through looking for M-lady's new kitchen table, as well as anything else that caught our eye. Bud enjoyed being able to look in all the drawers and cabinets of the demo spaces.

As were were getting towards the end of the showroom area, Bud complained of being hungry. We headed for the Ikea restaurant, where we got some breakfast plates, including Swedish pancakes with lingonberry sauce. Bud ate pretty well, and Buster had some bits of potato and some of the lingonberry sauce.

We managed to get out before the place got too ridiculously crowded, and M-lady loaded the kids into her car while I loaded the flatpacks into mine. We met at home, and M-lady took Buster in while Bud helped me unload a bit.

Bud helped me put together a new table and chairs for him, which are low and stable. It should make for a good craft/coloring table for him. After getting some lunch squared away, M-lady took Bud out shopping for party ideas while I stayed home with Buster, watching the last stage of the Tour of California on TV and the laptop. I fed Buster an afternoon snack, and he snoozed on my chest for about an hour while we were hanging out.

When they got back, Bud spent time hanging out with Buster and me while M-lady ran another quick errand. Since the Tour stage was over, we all played together a bit in the living room. Buster is really loving being picked up by his hands and swung back and forth a little bit. It generates lots of giggles.

When M-lady got home, we turned on the TV again, this time for the Oscars. We watched on and off through dinner and some more furniture construction. After dinner, which Bud didn't eat much of, we headed upstairs for a shower. I got both the boys cleaned up, and we headed back downstairs for just a little more TV before bedtime at about 8:00.

Bud was cooperative through the bedtime routine, and fell asleep pretty quickly when the lights went out around 8:30. He woke a little later, briefly around 11:30, a few minutes after Buster woke briefly and made some noise. Both boys went back to sleep without too any trouble.

No barfing today!

Re-Barf

Buster was up around 6:00, and Bud around 7:00. I managed to keep Bud in his room until about 7:30, but he was jumping on my back while I was resting in his bed.

We headed downstairs, and watched a little bit of TV before getting some breakfast. I made cinnamon toast for Bud for breakfast, which he enjoyed quite a bit. While Bud was working on his toast, I got another 4 ounce bottle for Buster, who's already gotten a six ounce bottle from M-lady. At about 9:00, I was able to hand off the kids to M-lady and snooze for a little while.

Bud and M-lady headed off to meet friend J and his mom at the Jungle a little before 10:00. I stayed home with Buster, who was looking groggy, but refused to nap anywhere but in my arms. So I held him for about two hours.

Bud had a great time at the Jungle, and apparently ran around in the tubes with J without being accompanied by an adult for the first time. This is great, because following him around in spaces really meant for smaller people is getting harder for us older, slower people. Bud also ate a bit slice of pizza there for a pre-lunch, apparently.

He got home with M-lady around 12:30, and M-lady fed Buster while I got Bud set up playing Lego Star Wars with Cousin LR. The two kids had a good time playing while Uncle D and I helped out every now and then.

M-lady made a smoothy for the second part of Bud's lunch, which he really enjoyed. Buster had some of the smoothy, too, and then fussed until I gave him some rice from the sushi I had for lunch. I guess Buster likes sushi, too.

After lunch, Bud and I read a story together, and then tried to rest a little bit. Well, I rested a little bit, but Bud refused to nap with me. After about a half hour, we got up and had some fun making a crumb cake together from mix. After that we sat and watched an instant Netflix called Mighty Machines - At the Race Track, which Bud really enjoyed.

Bud and M-lady played together for a bit while I got some food for Buster, and a little after 5:00 Bud and I headed out to pick up dinner. We had a nice dinner when we got back, although right afterward Bud barfed on the carpet in the playroom. I think we just started treating his GI tract as recovered a few days too soon. After getting him and the carpet generally cleaned up, I plopped him into the bathtub.

Bud had a good bath, and after getting into PJs, we watched a little TV before having a small snack and heading for bed. Bud was pretty wiped out, and fell asleep a few minutes after turning out the light.

Buster was a bit grumpy for most of the day. He did finally get the top left tooth, so he has 4 teeth descending right now. I know that would probably make me cranky.

More New Foods

Buster was up around 6:30, and Bud a little before 7:00, each grabbing a parent. I managed to keep Bud in his room until about 7:40, when we headed downstairs to watch a little TV. We got started on breakfast around 8:30, and Bud had a little spontaneous meltdown right as he started eating.

After getting him settled down, he took it upon himself to get dressed. M-lady ended up helping him with his shirt, and after he had finished I praised him for taking the initiative and getting dressed himself. Then I helped him get his undershirt turned around. He was happy about the prospect of going to the park again when I left for work.

The kids apparently had a good day, although Bud's appetite is still pretty low. Buster ate well, and is getting back to his usual eating routine. Bud took a nap in the afternoon again, after the trip to the park.

I got home around 4:30, and Bud was happy to see me. He warned me to be quiet as I came in, since Buster was napping. I got Bud set up playing on Sesame Street online while I finished up some work, and Buster woke up and got a bath from Nanny J.

M-lady arrived home a little after 5:00, and after settling in, we ordered some sushi for dinner at Bud's request. Bud and I went to pick it up while M-lady spent some time hanging out with Buster. Bud ate a good dinner. I guess he really likes sushi.

Buster had a bottle, and looked very interested in the sushi. He ended up eating a fair bit of the sushi rice, which I fed to him about 4-5 grains at a time. He eventually had his fill and we headed upstairs to give Bud a bath.

Bud and I played a few minutes of Lego Star Wars before heading for bed. Bud was good about going to bed again, and fell asleep quickly after turning out the lights around 8:20. M-lady put Buster to sleep without much issue as well.

Day by day, we're getting a little closer to normal.

Meatball Boy

M-lady was up with Buster at about 6:20, and handed him to me a few minutes before she needed to get on a call at 7:00. I was up with Buster for about 15 minutes before Bud wandered in, ready to head downstairs to watch TV.

We all watched a little bit together while M-lady was on her call, and she joined us when she was done. I got Bud set up for breakfast when Nanny J arrived at about 8:45.

Bud was excited to go to the park again today, and they apparently had a good time. He didn't eat much again today, though, is still suffering a little bit of diarrhea, and took a nap in the afternoon. So he's still recovering. Buster is also doing better, and seemed happy all the time I was with him today, if a little tired.

I had to do some work when I got home, so Bud played on the Sesame Street website next to me. I wrapped up shortly after M-lady got home, and we headed downstairs. We watched a little Food Network at Bud's request, and he watched Iron Chef America while the rest of us had dinner.

Buster practices his chewing when he sees us eating. Tonight M-lady gave him some bits of a meatball, which he seemed to enjoy. I think he's excited about getting to some more solid foods.

I played some Lego Indiana Jones with Bud after dinner. We had a good time, but Bud had a bit of a meltdown when it came time to clean up the playroom. He ate a little bit of dinner, and we headed for bed early.

He fell asleep around 8:00, so was clearly a bit tired. Recuperation continues.

To The Park

Buster was up around 6:30ish this morning, and Bud got me out of bed around 7:00. He wasn't interested in snoozing anymore, so we headed downstairs to watch a bit of TV before having a little breakfast. Since Bud's been getting better, he had milk on his cereal today.

I headed off for work shortly after Nanny J arrived. Bud was a bit sad that there wasn't any school today, and that I was leaving for work. But he got excited about the prospect of going to the park with Nanny J, since the weather was clear today for the first time in a while.

They apparently had a good time at the park, although it was a bit soggy. Bud reported that he didn't eat lunch, but I suspect he ate a snack of some sort. Buster ate a jar of (semi)solid food again today for the first time in a while. Bud took a nap on the playroom couch again as well.

The traffic on the way home was a little ugly, so we were both a little late. M-lady managed to arrive home before I did, and I found both kids in good spirits when I arrived.

I sat down and played a little bit of Lego Indiana Jones with Bud after we'd settled in a bit. It seems to be a slightly more complex game than teh Star Wars variant: more puzzles, less fighting. For that reason, so far, it's a little bit tougher for Bud to feel comfortable in. But he's enjoying it nonetheless.

We had some dinner after a couple of levels, which Bud again deferred. After a little bit more gaming, with Buster looking on, Bud ate some of his dinner and headed for the bathtub. He didn't really eat a big dinner, but did get some protein.

Bud had a good bath and bedtime run. He fell asleep pretty quickly when the light went out a little after 8:00. Given his light appetite in the evening and propensity to sleeping, I think Bud is still recovering a little.

I believe Buster had one vomit today, but his butt is starting to look a little better, and he's generally looking a little happier. Hopefully he'll sleep through the night without barfing as well.

Mostly Better

We were mostly better today. The kids slept pretty well through the night, although I was up with Bud a couple of times to keep him company. He got me up to go downstairs and watch TV at about 7:30.

We did a much more normal morning, getting Bud dressed and getting him breakfast before Nanny J arrived. I headed for work at about 9:00, and M-lady a short time later. Bud and Buster apparently had a pretty good day with Nanny J.

I headed home a little early, and arrived a little after 2:00. Buster smiled at me from his high chair when I got in, and Bud was napping on the couch in the playroom. Bud had a good two-hour nap today, which he initiated on his own.

Buster had some more diarrhea, but his butt is healing. Bud was pretty much healthy all day.

After M-lady got home shortly after 5:00, we regrouped and settled in together. Bud and I decided to make a foray out to Fry's, which was a nice chance to get him out of the house for a little while, since he's been cooped up for days. While we were there, we picked up the Lego Indiana Jones game, which Bud was pretty excited about.

We got home and had some dinner, which Bud deferred. M-lady had fed Buster and gotten him ready for bed, and played with him a little bit while Bud and I played a little bit of the new game before bedtime. Bud decided to eat a little bit before bed, but not much.

Bud fell asleep around 8:45, and I helped put Buster down a short time later. Buster unfortunately woke again around 11:00, having barfed in his sleep. M-lady and I got him cleaned up and in fresh PJs, and he went back to sleep pretty quickly. So we seem to be all better except for Buster. Hopefully he'll continue to improve as the week goes on. Right now he's eating 4 ounce bottles at a go, but we haven't re-introduced solids yet. Maybe in a couple of days.

Day of Recovery

Both kids slept well through the night, which was nice. Bud got me out of bed around 7:00, and we headed downstairs to watch some TV at about 7:45.

Since I had taken today off work, we stayed in our pajamas for a while, watching TV and the Tour of California stage (that I had planned to go out and see in person). It was a pretty mellow morning, and Bud and I had some toast for breakfast at about 10:00. Bud asked to get dressed around noon, and went to play with Nanny J for a bit while I took a nap.

I managed to sleep for about three hours, which was great. M-lady got home around 2:00, and Nanny J took her leave a bit early. When I got up, Bud was just getting up from a nap he took in the afternoon as well.

Bud and I read some stories in the afternoon, and got started on dinner a little after 5:00. We had some mac and cheese M-lady had prepared the day before (the first time she's ever made mac and cheese). M-lady joined us with Buster, and had some dinner of her own right after we'd finished up.

After dinner we got started on a shower, and Buster and Bud got showered off as well. They were both good in the shower, and the bedtime routine afterward was pretty straightforward. A little bit of TV, then story and bedtime for Bud. His lights were out around 8:30, and he fell asleep pretty quickly afterward. Bud didn't barf today, and ate more complex foods, but is still suffering from some diarrhea.

M-lady developed a fever in the evening, and took a nap during part of the bedtime routine. Buster barfed once today, but is clearly doing better, and was in better spirits in the evening, although he was refusing formula and water before bedtime. He's still got a bit of diarrhea and a nasty diaper rash, though.

I'm feeling much better, and will plan on heading into the office for at least part of the day tomorrow.

Plague Ward

Both kids actually slept pretty well through the night, which was nice. M-lady was up with Buster a little bit, Bud came and got me at about 6:30, so that was really when we all started the day.

Bud vomited once in the morning when he had some Gatorade, so he ended up not eating anything until dinner time. He sipped some water from time to time, but didn't seem particularly uncomfortable. He was a bit lethargic and probably a bit dehydrated, although he didn't really suffer from much diarrhea today, either.

Buster only barfed a couple of times today (although he made them count), but he was suffering from pretty bad diarrhea. Since he was pooping about every 10-15 minutes, his butt got a nasty diaper rash. I gave him a bath in the morning, and a shower in the evening, and he slept with a naked butt in the afternoon for a bit to help dry things out.

Bud and I both had fevers today, but Buster didn't seem to have much of one. Bud and I had a nice nap from about 12:00 to 2:00 or so in his room, but we spent the majority of the day in front of the TV. Bud did perk up a bit around dinnertime, and had some toast and Pedialyte (which he liked for the first time) before having a bath. He was in bed shortly after 8:00, and passed out quickly.

Buster was pretty grumpy today because of the diaper rash, but was happy about the shower we had in the evening. He's definitely not barfing as much, but we're still being careful with the bottle, feeding him 2 ounces at a time and waiting 20 minutes or so before the next 2 ounces. We kept that up most of the day. Buster did get a bit groggy in the afternoon. He was asleep shortly after 9:00.

Hopefully there's some recovery tomorrow. I'll be taking off work to get some extra sleep, and Nanny J will probably come over for a part-day. With any luck we'll all get a good night's sleep tonight.

Thanks to M-lady for taking care of all of us, and running innumerable loads of laundry today.

A Barfy Valentine

Buster was actually awake for most of the night. He barfed at about 2:00, and M-lady and I got him cleaned up. I hung out with him until about 2:30, when M-lady took him for a while. She was up with him until about 4:00. He apparently snoozed a little bit in the playpen while they were up together, but wasn't able to really sleep. She handed him off to me at about 4:00.

We sat together in the playpen until about 4:30, when he really woke up. We watched some TV together for a while, and I finally fed him a little bit at about 6:30. He was really upset that I only fed him 4 ounces, but I didn't want him to barf because he ate too much, too quickly. M-lady came downstairs and took him from me around then.

Buster ate some more, and barfed a little later. Bud got me up at about 6:45, and I managed to get him to snooze with me until about 7:30. We got up then, rendezvoused with M-lady and Buster, and started on the day. M-lady and Bud managed to make some more valentines (one for me!) while I snoozed a little bit longer.

Most of the day was spent pacifying Buster in some way, cleaning up a barf or poop, and running laundry. Buster was exhausted, but not comfortable enough to sleep more than 10-15 minutes at a time, so he was pretty grumpy for most of the day. And the washing machine was running pretty constantly.

M-lady called the doctor's office in the morning, and got the report that the office had seen a run of this bug going around, generally lasting 3-5 days with vomiting and diarrhea. Apparently very contagious as well, so we started washing hands a lot more.

Nanny J arrived at about 2:00 to help out a bit. She brought some food to cook, and took care of Buster and Bud for us for about an hour while M-lady and I caught naps. We rejoined a little after 3:00, and a short time later Nanny J got sick. Rats. We thanked her for coming out to help, and apologized profusely for getting her sick. She headed home to take care of herself.

Bud and I took a quick trip to Babies 'R Us to pick up some extra waterproof sheets for Buster's crib, a couple of new sleep sacks for him (large), and some more Desitin. Bud and I had a pretty good time, although Bud mentioned that his stomach hurt a little bit. Uh-oh.

We hit the grocery store on the way home and picked up some flowers for M-lady. She was cleaning up Buster again when we got home from yet another barf. After being home for about a half hour, Bud vomited into the bucket we gave him 'just in case'.

Bud was really low key after that, lying in front of the TV. He barfed another 5 or 6 times before bed, but got it all into the bucket or the toilet. He was really good about that... we were proud of him, and praised him for being a big boy. We skipped his shower and put him in bed around 8:00, where I read him a story before he passed out. He barfed right before lights out at 8:15, but hasn't vomited since then.

Buster ended the day really uncomfortable, with some bad diaper rash. I took him into the shower at about 7:00, and discovered he was really thirsty. We'd been rationing formula to him during the day, since he kept vomiting, but after the shower M-lady gave him a couple ounces of water which he drank greedily. He fell asleep almost immediately after that.

The kids have slept peacefully so far, but I don't really expect it to last. But M-lady and I got to spend a couple hours together where we weren't cleaning up body fluids, so that was nice. Hopefully at least one of the kids will recover a little tomorrow.

Barfy

Buster woke at about 2:00am, having vomited in his crib. M-lady and I got him and the crib cleaned up. While I was loading smelly sheets and PJs into the washing machine downstairs, M-lady rocked Buster back to sleep, and got barfed on. So we did the clean up again.

Buster eventually fell back to sleep, and was quiet until he woke around 6:45, having pooped through his diaper. M-lady handled Buster after we got him cleaned up, and I managed to snooze for a few more minutes before getting up around the same time as Bud, a few minutes after 8:00.

I helped get Bud dressed and fed in preparation for school, and we left shortly after Nanny J arrived around 8:45. Bud was looking forward to the Valentine's Day celebration at school.

Bud apparently had a pretty good day, and enjoyed exchanging Valentines with his classmates. He had a cupcake for a snack at school, so ate lunch a little later when he got home. Buster apparently didn't have quite as good a day, suffering from some explosive diarrhea. Nanny J ran a lot of loads of laundry. Buster didn't barf again during the day, though.

M-lady and I converged at home around 5:15, and Nanny J took her leave for the weekend. We played together for a little bit, and then M-lady finished up some work while Bud and Buster and I watched a little bit of TV before getting started on dinner. I made spaghetti at Bud's suggestion, and M-lady joined us before we sat down to eat.

We had a nice dinner, and Bud had a bath afterward. After getting into PJs, Bud and I headed downstairs to watch a little TV. We headed back up a few moments later to help M-lady clean up a big barf by Buster. He apparently heaved the six ounce bottle he had at dinner time while in his crib. After getting him cleaned up, Bud and I managed to catch the end of his program before heading upstairs again.

M-lady read Bud his bedtime story tonight for a change, while I played with Buster a little bit. We switched kids when I put Bud to bed, and when I got up I found M-lady and Buster asleep in Buster's playpen in the office. After getting some chores done, I got Buster into his crib without problem.

Buster seemed reasonably happy all evening: no fever, just occasionally barfy and poopy. Hopefully he's got most of it out of his system by now, and will sleep the night without incident.

New Bed

Bud slept through the night last night, which was wonderful. Apparently showing him that he didn't have to be lonely if he had his stuffed animals helped. We'll see if that continues tonight.

M-lady brought Buster to bed around 7:30ish, and I got up a little before 8:00. We did a pretty standard morning routine, although our house cleaner arrived a bit before Nanny J. Both kids were happy and agreeable through the morning.

After I got Bud set up with breakfast, I headed for work. The kids apparently had a good day with Nanny J, including a walk with Bud riding his tricycle and Buster riding in a stroller. Bud was happy about 'practicing' on his trike.

M-lady got home a little bit before I did. When I got home, I finally managed to get the car seats set up in Nanny J's car. We took the bucket out, moved Bud's old one and turned it around for Buster, and got Bud's new big seat installed. It took a little bit of work to get Bud's new seat installed, since Nanny J's car doesn't have LATCH. I finally got it secured, though, with help from Bud and Nanny J.

We all headed inside and spent some time getting ready for the delivery of Bud's new bed. This included taking a bookcase upstairs which we'd had in the living room for a while. While I got the bookcase broken down, Bud played kickball with M-lady and Buster, doing a unique two-footed jumping kick which made everyone giggle.

Bud helped with getting the bookcase upstairs as M-lady and Buster watched. After getting things situated upstairs, we headed down again to get some dinner. Both Buster and Bud ate well.

After dinner, Bud and I shared a little bit of the peanut brittle I made last night. It turned out pretty well, and Bud liked his first taste of peanut brittle quite a bit. We decided to watch a little bit of TV after that, waiting for the bed delivery.

The new bed arrived around 7:30, and only took a few minutes to get in place. After the delivery men left, we got Bud into the bathtub, and M-lady made up his bed for him. He was really excited to see his Star Wars sheets on the new, bigger bed. He has a box spring underneath a thicker mattress now, so the bed is quite a bit higher.

It was straight into PJs and the bedtime story at that point, since it was near 8:30. Bud was amenable, and got snuggled into his new bed. He fell asleep pretty quickly once the light went out, a little before 9:00. We'll see how he sleeps tonight.

Buster fell asleep around the same time, apparently squirming in M-lady's arms, but contented passing out when put down.

Stuffed Companions

Bud was up for a little while around 1:30, but went back to sleep pretty quickly. He managed to stay asleep until he got me out of bed at 7:00, which was an improvement from previous nights. M-lady took care of Buster a couple times during the night as well, and we were all up and getting ready around 7:30.

I helped get Bud dressed and got him some breakfast, and then headed off for work a little before Nanny J arrived. The kids seemed pretty happy hanging out with M-lady as I left.

The kids apparently ate well today. M-lady was already home when I arrived at about 5:20, and we decided not to install the new car seats into Nanny J's car since it was a bit rainy out. Instead we all played together for a little while in the living room, then spent a little time cleaning up before Bud and I sat down to catch an episode of Good Eats before dinner.

Bud watched as I ate dinner and M-lady fed Buster, then decided to join in a short time later. He ate pretty well, and we headed upstairs for a bath ahead of schedule. Bud enjoyed his bath, and Buster continues to try to get into the tub with Bud every time he sees water in there.

After getting Bud into PJs, we headed back downstairs to watch a little bit of TV before bed. Bud was pretty good about going to bed tonight, particularly as M-lady needed to run some errands, so I couldn't sit with Bud until he fell asleep as usual. I took Buster from M-lady and put him down in his crib while she headed out for a little while.

Bud and I chatted about why he's coming looking for us at night recently. He claims to be getting lonely. I suggested that he could always snuggle one of his stuffed animals. I think he took to the idea, as tonight he was aggressively clutching his stuffed buffalo and frog. He fell asleep on his own a little after 8:00.

Buster was a little more up and down going to bed, but finally settled down around 10:00ish.

New Veggie

Bud was up a couple times during the night, and M-lady and I took turns putting him back to bed. Buster woke at about 7:00, and he was snoozing on my chest in the rocking chair in his room when Bud woke and came to find me. Buster woke a short time later, and we all started getting ready for the day.

Bud was a little disappointed not to have school today. I think he's getting a little bored at home. We'll need to start looking for summer school or other daytime activities for him.

I headed to work a little after Nanny J arrived, and Bud happily waved me away as he tucked into his breakfast. I got back around 5:00, and found the happy kids playing in the living room. Buster did his happy crawl beeline to greet me.

After Nanny J took her leave, I finished up the dinner preparations that Nanny J had started by popping the pork chops in the oven and steaming some asparagus. I was interested in eating pretty quickly, and Bud decided that he wanted to share my dinner. I asked if he wanted his own, and he declined. So I served myself a double portion, then scooped from my plate to his, and he was happy.

Buster was very patient as we ate, and after we finished I got started on getting him fed. Since the asparagus had turned out a little mushy, I decided to see if he wanted a little bit. He made some funny faces and spit most of it out, but did in fact eat a little bit of asparagus.

M-lady arrived home and got some dinner for herself as I tried to get a jar of carrots into Buster. He ended up wearing a good portion of it, but we finished the jar. I got him into some clean clothes as M-lady guided Bud through making more Valentines.

After that it was bath time, followed by a quick snack and bedtime. Bud was pretty agreeable, and in bed around 8:15. He fell asleep pretty quickly, so I guess he stayed active today. Buster fell asleep with M-lady in his playpen in the office around 9:00ish, and I moved him to his crib around 11:30. He's slept quietly so far this evening.

Usual Evening

Bud got me out of bed around 3:00, and again around 7:00. I don't think he went back to sleep after 7:00, but I managed to keep him in his bed until about 7:45, when M-lady dropped off Buster for a minute.

We got Bud dressed and ready for school, and he was out the door as soon as Nanny J arrived. The dropoff went fine, although I realized we'd forgotten to provide a self-addressed stamped envelop for Bud for a project they're doing at school, so I called M-lady and had her bring one in on her way to work.

Bud and Buster apparently had a good day, although Bud reported that he didn't eat lunch. There was more fruit missing at the end of the day, though, so I don't think he went entirely hungry. Buster apparently ate another banana during the day.

When I got home, Bud had apparently just wet his pants, and was happily running pantless upstairs to get some clean pants. Buster crawled over to greet me, and after a hug spent a few more minutes hanging out with Nanny J while I got settled in. Bud asked to play on SesameStreet.com after Nanny J left, and I brought Buster up to the office and played with him a little bit while Bud played online. Buster was a little sleepy, though, and napped on my chest for about half an hour.

M-lady arrived home a short time later, and we got started on dinner. Bud again deferred, but Buster ate pretty well. Bud and I spent a little bit of time cleaning up the living room together after dinner, and then got him into his bath.

After the bath, Bud finished his dinner, and we headed for bed. We enjoyed reading a couple of stories before turning out the light at about 8:20. Bud was asleep around 8:45. M-lady was able to put Buster down a short time later.

Bud has gotten very insecure recently about sleeping on his own. I hope it's a passing phase... I'm looking forward to sleeping in my own bed again.

Pony Party

I ended up sleeping most of the night with Bud. At 6:30, he hopped out of bed. I asked him where he was headed... I think he was going to look for me. He came back to bed and slept for a bit longer.

M-lady took care of the kids for a good part of the morning while I slept a little longer in our bed, trying to straighten out my neck a little bit.

I joined them at about 10:00, and after making sure they were OK, got myself dressed and ready for the day. Then I got Bud dressed, and worked on feeding Buster. He was a bit groggy by that time, though, and fell asleep in the chair as I was moving the spoon towards him.

We got all packed up, and headed out the door around 11:00 to go to friend K's birthday party. She was holding the party at a little farm near Half-Moon Bay which offered pony rides and a petting zoo. It was a little rainy when we arrived, but the weather cleared up pretty quickly.

Bud enjoyed feeding the goats, and we took a look at the chickens, ducks, and bunnies. Lots of the other kids were riding ponies, but Bud deferred. We got some lunch, and he spent some time walking around with M-lady while I held Buster for a bit.

Cake was next, followed by a little train (tram) ride. Bud liked the ride, and considered going again with M-lady, but decided not to. We eventually took our leave at about 2:00, and headed home.

Buster napped a bit on the way home, and I napped with him for a while when we arrived home. While we were asleep, Bud and M-lady did a massive toy sort and stow, and Buster and I came downstairs to find the playroom all picked up and M-lady and Bud reading a story.

Buster, M-lady, and I had some dinner, although Bud decided to pass for the time being. After dinner, we had a nice video chat with Ama and Agu, during which Buster showed off crawling, pulling up, and his word ("Uh-oh"). Bud was a little hyper, but did enjoy interacting with Ama and Agu as well.

After the video call we headed upstairs for a shower. I got both boys cleaned off. Buster really relishes the showers, and can't wait to get in. He doesn't mind getting his face wet as much as he used to, and really enjoys playing in the water.

After the shower, Bud and I got into PJs and headed downstairs to do the final cleanup of the living room and the play room. Bud was very helpful, and we were able to get things picked up pretty quickly. After picking up, Bud ate his dinner, and we watched a little bit of TV before having a treat and heading for bed. Bud was pretty mellow and cooperative for the whole evening after his shower.

We watched dragon dancing tonight before reading a story at bedtime. Bud thought it was cool, but I don't think he was as excited about it as he was about the lion dancing. We had the lights out by about 8:15, and Bud and I chatted a little about school the next day before he fell asleep around 8:30.

Buster has been up a couple times, but fallen asleep again quickly. I wonder if his teething is still a little uncomfortable.

Virtual Playdate

Bud and Buster were again up and down a bit during the night. M-lady ended up taking the kids in the morning while I napped for about half an hour. I joined them at about 9:30, working on Bud's valentines cards for his class. He's signing each one, which is providing a lot of practice for him.

Bud got dressed in jeans today, for the first time as far as I know. I think he's been wearing sweatpants just about every day for the past two years. So it was pretty exciting for all of us to get him into jeans. He looked more like a little boy, and less like a toddler.

A little bit later, we gave Aunt Ruggermom a call. They had gotten their Xbox set up, so we spent a little time and set up a game of Lego Star Wars for Bud and LR. We had a video call set up at the same time, which makes playing a whole lot of fun. The cousins had a good time playing together.

After the game, I got some lunch together for Buster. He had a reasonable lunch, and after he was fed we got started on feeding the rest of the family. M-lady had a grilled cheese sandwich, and Bud and I had quesadillas. Bud actually had two quesadillas: he asked for a second one when I sat down to eat mine.

After lunch M-lady headed out for an errand, and I stayed home with the kids. We read a story for a while, and played in the playroom. We ended up in the office, where Bud played on SesameStreet.com for a little while before M-lady returned bearing cupcakes.

After the treat, Bud and I headed over to the mattress store to buy him a new bed. He was really well behaved, and I think he liked trying the different mattresses. We tried about half a dozen before picking out a nice mattress that won't kill M-lady's and my backs when we sleep with him in his room.

We got some dinner after we got home, and then turned on the San Francisco Chinese New Year parade. Bud was taken with the dragons and lions, and showed some interest in learning lion dancing. We watched the big finale of the parade right after his bath.

Bud was good about bedtime, and we watched some lion dancing videos on the iPhone before bed. I wonder if we can find time to do kung fu and lion dance classes with Bud.

Buster fell asleep a bit later, and woke a couple of times. The later waking woke Bud as well, but we managed to get both back to sleep before too long. Hopefully they'll sleep on their own for a bit.

Macaroni Art

Bud and Buster were again up and down during the night... not sure why they haven't been sleeping very well recently. Well, Buster's sleeplessness can be attributed to teething, but Bud doesn't have that excuse. In any case, I was up at about 7:45 this morning, getting out of Bud's bed.

I had an 8:00 call, and it was pretty exciting trying to pay attention to the call and get Bud dressed at at the same time. M-lady helped shepherd him along to breakfast as well, and he was ready to go to school by the time Nanny J arrived at 8:45. I drove him to school, and we walked through the the rain to class.

The kids apparently had a good day. Bud did macaroni art at school, which he told us about at dinner. M-lady got home to take over from Nanny J at about 5:00, and I got home closer to 6:00. M-lady took the opportunity to go visit a friend briefly, and as Bud opted to stay home with Buster and me, the three of us hung out for a while.

We had a nice video chat with Grandma W and Granddad B. Buster showed off his high-speed crawling (in an attempt to get the laptop), and Bud did his usual high-energy antics in the background. We had a fun chat.

After the chat, I fed Buster a jar of food and a bottle. Bud declined dinner, so after getting Buster fed we headed into the playroom. I got Bud to clean up a little bit before we settled in to watch a few minutes of TV. M-lady arrived home a short time later.

M-lady and Bud and I had some dinner together, and since it was getting near 8:00, Bud actually ate pretty well. After dinner we stayed up a little late and watched The Upside Down Show before heading for bed.

Bud was a little rambunctious heading for bed, and wasn't asleep until about 9:00. Buster was mostly sleeping, although a little restless, until about 10:00.

Bud woke a little later in the night, upset about something. I don't think he ever fully woke up. As I was putting him back to bed, I heard him say, "I want the elephant nose..." When I asked him if he wanted a drink of water, he responded, "No, I want the balloon." I guess he was still pretty asleep.

Playing Chef

We had a fairly busy night, between Buster and Bud waking several times. Bud got me out of bed for the last time around 7:00, and we headed downstairs to watch some TV a little before 8:00.

Bud and I watched for about an hour, and Nanny J arrived a short time later. Bud was a bit clingy this morning, and didn't want me to leave for work. He eventually acquiesced, however, and gave me a hug as I headed out.

The kids apparently had a good day, although Buster seems to have bitten his upper lip sometime during the day. I suppose it's one of the hazards of growing teeth. He didn't really seem too put out by it when I got home, though.

Bud was happy to see me, and the three of us played for a little while after Nanny J headed home. After I determined that more play might be detrimental to my neck, we settled in front of the TV to watch a little bit of Good Eats before M-lady arrived home. Bud really seems to be getting into the cooking shows.

The episode was about spices, and one of the dishes prepared was a rubbed salmon fillet. After we turned off the TV, Bud dubbed me a fish, and proceeded to grill me on the couch. After I left to have some dinner of my own, Bud piled up his toys on the couch, saying he was grilling food. The lightsabers became sausages.

After I'd eaten, I joined Bud in the playroom, but promptly fell asleep on the couch. M-lady was kind enough to handle the kids for the rest of the evening. Bud apparently made a bit of a mess with his toys and crayons, and he and M-lady spent a good chunk of the evening cleaning up. He ate a good dinner before heading up to bed, though.

Bud got himself entirely undressed and put his PJs on himself. He got the shirt backwards, but didn't seem to mind too much. I found him, M-lady, and Buster all sleeping on his bed when I looked in on them around 9:00.

Buster was a bit up and down later in the evening, but hopefully will sleep well for the rest of the night.

Movie Night

Buster was up and down a little bit later into the night. Bud also woke a couple of time. Bud was ready to get up around 7:00, and came into the room. I was sleeping on my stomach, and when he addressed us I snapped my head up. I heard a pop in the back of my neck, and seem to have suffered some sort of bad muscle strain. I hung out with Bud in his room for a bit before we got up around 7:45.

M-lady helped out getting the kids ready and getting me a hot pad to put on my neck, which was really nice. I got Bud some breakfast, and took him to school when Nanny J arrived.

The kids were apparently pretty good today, although Bud didn't really eat a great lunch. Buster did eat a whole piece of bread today (sans crusts), which Nanny J doled out to him. The kids were having a good time playing the living room when I arrived home at about 5:00.

M-lady was home a little later again today, and since I didn't think my neck could take much playing, I popped in the Netflix video which arrived today: Wall-E. Bud had asked to see it from viewing the trailer, and I figured it would probably be OK for him.

Since there wasn't much speaking, the movie relies on the audience to infer quite a bit about what's going on at the beginning. Bud was a little confused, so I tried to fill in as the movie went along why the characters were doing what they were doing. But overall, Bud really enjoyed the movie.

We took a break when M-lady arrived home a little after 6:00, and had some dinner. Bud deferred, however, and we finished the movie and took a bath before Bud wanted to eat.

Bud did end up eating a reasonable dinner, but it was consumed almost after his bedtime. He was in bed by about 8:30, though, and fell asleep pretty quickly. Buster passed out around the same time before he'd had his last bottle of the day, and has slept solidly so far. Hopefully Buster doesn't wake up starving in the wee hours.

Online Again

I was up late working, and Bud woke right as I was getting to bed, around 4:30. I stayed with him in his room for about ten minutes, and thought he was asleep when I headed back to bed. He followed me a few minutes later, and M-lady lay down with him in his room for a little while. She came back to bed before too long, and Bud slept well for the rest of the night.

Buster was up around 6:30ish, and M-lady fielded him. I got up around 7:30 to find a very happy Buster playing in his crib while M-lady got ready for the day. Bud joined us a short time later, and I helped get him out of his diaper and on the road to getting dressed.

I had an 8:00 meeting that I had to dial into, and after making sure M-lady was doing OK with getting the kids breakfast, I headed into work. Nanny J arrived at 8:45, and M-lady headed for work shortly after that.

It was another beautiful day here, and Nanny J and the kids went to the park. They apparently had a very good time there. I'm glad they could get out to get some fresh air and sunshine, and Bud had the opportunity to run around a bit.

I got home at about 5:00, and Bud greeted me happily. The first thing he informed me was that Nanny J had given him a cookie (probably from her lunch) because he had been so good today. He tagged along as I unloaded stuff around the house and settled in.

Nanny J left around 5:15, and I decided to try a call to Granddad B. He was home, although Grandma Nese was out. After a bit of a chat on video, we set Granddad B up to play some Lego Star Wars with Bud. My XBox Live headset for voice chat through the game system died recently (possibly due to Bud chewing on the microphone), and I don't currently have one that Bud can use very well. So we kept the video chat up while they played, which worked really well.

M-lady arrived home while we were playing, and after settling in took Buster from me. Buster had been alternately watching the game and trying to get the laptop for most of the video call. He was really happy to see his mommy.

We all had a good dinner, and then watched an episode of The Muppet Show before starting on a bath for Bud. He was cooperative through the bedtime routine, and fell asleep pretty quickly at about 8:30.

Buster took a little longer to fall asleep, and woke a couple times during the evening. Hopefully he'll settle down and sleep the rest of the night again, though.

Helping To Fix

Bud woke this morning at about 4:30, and came running into the room. I think he had a bad dream. He wasn't crying, but he looked a little bewildered. I went back to his room with him, and he fell asleep again pretty quickly. I slept with him in his bed for a while.

Buster was up around 7:30, and Bud a little before 8:00. We did a pretty standard morning routine, although Bud didn't ask to watch TV, so that got skipped. He had cereal for breakfast, and was ready to go to school when Nanny J arrived.

The dropoff was fine, and Bud had a good day at school. Nanny J picked him up before lunch, and both kids had a fine afternoon. I arrived home around 5:00.

Bud was excited to see me, and immediately showed me the part that of the towel hook from the downstairs bathroom which fell off. He'd been carrying it in his pocket all day, waiting for me to get home. After Nanny J left, we took the hook off the door, pulled out the hex wrenches to fit one to the little set screw, and fixed the hook. Bud enjoyed being part of the process, and Buster was a little disappointed that I didn't let him chew on anything.

Bud also let me know that today was Groundhog Day, so we talked about that for a little while. I'm glad he's learning some of these things in class. I had no idea it was Groundhog Day.

We watched a little bit of WordWorld, which Bud is 'getting' more and more. M-lady arrived home a little before 6:00, and we all started on dinner.

Bud deferred his dinner until later, so after I'd eaten we headed upstairs to get him into his bath. Buster enjoyed watching Bud in the bath again, and looked like he was ready to jump in. Nanny J had given Buster his bath earlier in the day, and indicated that he is ready to graduate from the little plastic blue tub to the big tub.

After Bud got out and into PJs, we watched one more episode of The Muppet Show before eating dinner and heading for bed. Bud ended up eating pretty well, and was good about going to bed. He fell asleep on his own pretty quickly after 8:30.

Buster was up a little bit later, and up again around 10:30, but in bed again by 11:00.

Three On Top

Buster was up this morning at about 7:30, with M-lady fielding him, and Bud got me out of bed a little before 8:00. After getting Bud dressed, we headed downstairs and watched a couple episodes of The Muppet Show at his request.

Bud was scheduled for a haircut today at 10:00, and we managed to get him some breakfast and out the door with M-lady despite some reluctance on his part. I think he really wanted a haircut, he was just feeling shy.

While he was out getting his haircut with M-lady, Buster and I spent a little time hanging out together before I figured I might be able to get him to nap a little bit. He nodded off at about 10:30, and I managed to nap with him until about 12:00, which was nice.

Bud and M-lady hit the grocery store after he got a haircut. Bud was really good for his haircut, and enjoyed a lollipop they gave him as he left. They were just having some lunch when Buster and I joined them downstairs.

Bud didn't eat much lunch, but Buster ate a couple of jars of babyfood. I noticed the third of four teeth on top has broken through: he's just missing the front left now. I expect that one to come along shortly. After his meal, I gave him a bottle with just some water in it. He took a couple sucks, but was really more interested in how the bottle looked rather than drinking from it.

After lunch, I helped M-lady set up a Superyard hexagon in the office as a playpen for Buster. M-lady crawled into it with Buster, and they played there for a bit while I climbed out on the roof to pick oranges. Bud watched me from the front yard.

After we got the oranges inside, most of the rest of the afternoon was spent watching the SuperBowl and playing with the kids. Bud watched some, and enjoyed tossing balls around the room, playing 'football'. Buster was a bit squirmy, and managed to not take another nap today, so got a bit grumpy towards the end.

M-lady cooked a terrific dinner, which we ate at about 6:00. Bud didn't eat much, and Buster only had one jar. We returned to watch the end of the game, and then started on baths.

Bud got a bubble bath, presided over by M-lady, while I took Buster into the shower. We ended up with clean kids as 8:00pm approached. As I expected, Bud got hungry, and finished his dinner, had a couple of oranges, and another helping of green beans before we headed back to bed. The lights were out around 8:30, and Bud fell asleep on his own.

Buster fell asleep (rather violently, apparently) while eating his last bottle around 8:30, but refused to be put down for a while. M-lady finally got him to bed a bit later.
