Turkey Sandwiches

Buster slept well last night, which was a relief. Bud woke me up at about 3:30, but went back to sleep pretty quickly. He woke me again at about 7:30, and then got going with M-lady, who had gotten up with Buster.

I managed to get another hour or so of sleep, before I got up and started getting ready for a bike ride. Bud spent a good chunk of the morning playing with Ama and Agu, and Buster seemed in pretty good spirits as well, after sleeping well for a good chunk of the night.

Bud wished me well as I headed out at about 10:00 for the bike ride. While I was gone, Ama, Agu, and M-lady got to work on putting together a jedi robe for Bud out of material left over from the piano cover lining project. Bud was pretty excited about the prospect of a jedi robe.

When I returned, M-lady was resting with Buster, who apparently had gotten a bit fussy for part of the morning. Bud was playing quietly with Ama and Agu, and he was happy to see me home.

I showered and got some lunch, and Bud asked me to fix him a turkey sandwich. I discovered that he'd already had a turkey sandwich a short time earlier, but he seems to be on a bit of an eating binge... guess he's growing a bit. Buster and M-lady ended up snoozing until about 2:30, and were both in good spirits after they de-grogged a bit.

We had a pretty mellow afternoon, and I sat with Bud in front of the TV for a little bit to have some quiet time. He really should probably take a nap in the afternoon, but isn't willing to go to sleep. But at least having a quiet, somewhat passive activity for a little while might allow him to not be quite so burned out by bedtime.

M-lady finished up Bud's robe, which turned out beautifully. Bud commented that he looks a bit like a jawa in the robe, and we all had to agree with him. He makes a short jedi.

M-lady took the opportunity to run some errands in the later afternoon, and Buster and I had a nice video chat with Granddad B and Grandma Nese. Buster was very alert and even somewhat interactive. Bud made a brief appearance to show off his new threads.

A short time later, Bud indicated he was hungry. Ama and Agu got the dinner train rolling, and I fed Buster as dinner was being prepared. We all ate a solid meal. M-lady was still out running errands, but she ate as soon as she arrived home.

The rest of the evening was pretty standard, with a shower, TV, and bedtime. Both kids went to bed without too much trouble. Bud was looking forward to going back to school tomorrow, which is a good sign.

Tough Morning, Tough Evening

Bud woke a bit agitated at about 2:30 this morning, but fell back to sleep very quickly. Then Buster started making noise at about 3:00. Buster didn't sleep for more that about 30 minutes in his crib for the rest of the night, and M-lady and I took turns quieting and holding him.

I took a shift from about 7:30 to 9:30 or so, and dropped him into his crib at the end of that time, and headed for bed. M-lady was up with Bud, and they were reading stories in his bed. Buster woke a short time later, and M-lady got both kids dressed and hustled downstairs for breakfast.

Ama and Agu arrived a short time later, and they were able to help out quite a bit. Bud was playing with Agu when I got up around 11:00. Ama and Agu prepared a great lunch for us, and we were joined a bit after 12:00 by Aunt O, Uncle C, and Cousin C. Cousin C had a great time crawling around the living room, looking at all the toys.

We managed to snap a family picture, which didn't come out too badly. The camera has a nice blinking light on it for the timer, and both the little ones looked at that. Since our pro photo session, Bud has been much more willing to pose for photos as well.

Uncle C, Aunt O, and Cousin C headed out before too long, and Buster took a short nap before we had a very nice video chat with my sister, RuggerMom. Granddad B and Grandma Nese had recently departed, so we didn't see them, but we did see Cousin H, and the twins, B and V. Bud asked Cousin H if he liked Star Wars, to which Cousin H replied, "What's Star Wars?" This left Bud a little confused.

Bud and I headed out to Home Depot after that, since we didn't get out of the house yesterday. We had a good time until it was time to leave, at which point Bud sort of melted down. He screamed in the car all the way home, and then screamed in his room for a little while before settling down.

A few minutes later, he was fine, and we had turkey sandwiches for dinner. He ate well, and afterward we had a successful and reasonably quick shower. After the shower there was some Lego Star Wars play time, before we had a cookie and headed up for bed. Bud was good through the bedtime routine, although it took him a while to fall asleep.

Buster started doing his same 'not wanting to sleep in his crib' thing again during the evening. We finally got him to sleep for a bit at about 11:00. Hopefully he'll sleep a little better tonight.

Full Day of Play

Bud woke me at about 4:00 this morning, and I helped him back to sleep. I ended up taking Buster from about 6:45 to 7:45 or so as well. I was rocking Buster back to sleep when Bud woke and came looking for me. Seeing me occupied, he climbed into bed with M-lady which is where I found them a bit later when I'd managed to get Buster into his crib.

We hung out for a few minutes before I got up with Bud and headed downstairs for the usual morning routine. M-lady and Buster joined us a bit later, and M-lady was willing to watch the kids for a bit while I napped from about 9:30 to 11:00 or so.

They had a good time together, and M-lady got some craft work done with Bud helping out. Buster was a little cranky when I joined them again, and I got him to fall asleep pretty quickly for a bit of a nap.

At about noon, Bud's friend T arrived with her parents, M and D. Bud and T had a great time playing together for the next few hours. They spent a lot of time together unsupervised, and I don't think we had even one crying incident for the whole duration of the visit. M-lady and I had a great time visiting with M and D, who both got pulled into lightsaber battles during the visit.

The visitors took their leave at about 3:30, and we settled down a little bit together. M-lady took the opportunity to run a couple errands, and Bud and Buster and I had a snack and plopped down in front of the TV for a little bit. Buster fell asleep at the table while I was attending to Bud, and managed to nap for about an hour. Bud ate a good portion of a turkey drumstick at about 4:30, so we counted that as most of his dinner.

M-lady ate when she got home, and then took Buster from me so I could eat. After dinner I showered the kids. Bud has taken to liking to stand under the water, which means that I don't get to anymore. We put Buster in his plastic tub in the shower for the first time, and he had a great time splashing in the water. He's getting big enough that it's tough for me to hold him while he's soaped up.

Bud and I had some apple pie after the shower, and then we started on bedtime. Bud was a little resistant, but I think he was just worn out after running around with T all afternoon. He was in bed around 8:30, and fell asleep pretty quickly.

Thanksgiving of Firsts

Buster was up early again this morning, and M-lady took care of him for a while. I got him from about 6:00 to 7:00 or so, and then headed back to bed for a little while as M-lady took another turn. Bud woke me at about 8:30, and we headed downstairs for a little bit of TV and warm milk.

Ama and Agu arrived a short time later, Bud and Buster were hanging out with them. Buster was a little nervous around the grandparents today... stranger fear has set in. He would let them hold him for a little while, but was a bit clingy to M-lady and me overall.

Around noon we got started on food preparations. M-lady had prepared some side dishes yesterday, so today we only had to worry about the turkey and an apple pie we were making from scratch. Since the pie needed to cool for four hours, it had to be put in the oven about the same time as the bird. Fortunately, we have two ovens in this house. I think today was the first time we've used both at the same time.

Bud helped with the pie, mostly with mixing and then rolling out the crust. We had a good time with it, and it turned out well enough that we might try to make it again, and improve upon it a bit.

Bud, Agu, and I took a walk in the later afternoon, and enjoyed the cool weather and looking at the leaves. Bud had a great time, and it was good to get him running around outside the house for a little while. As we walked in the door on our return, the oven dinged to let us know the turkey was done.

Dinner was excellent, and we all ate well. Bud was anxious to get to the pie immediately after dinner, but we all decided it was a better idea to let dinner settle a little bit before digging into the pie. We spent the time having a nice video chat with Grandma W and Granddad B, and watching a little bit of football. Bud also instigated some lightsaber battles.

The pie was good, and afterward it was time to wrap up the evening. Ama and Agu said their goodbyes and headed back to Uncle C and Aunt O's house, and Bud and I headed upstairs to start the bedtime routine. Bud was pretty good about it, although we got started a little late, and he was in bed shortly after 9:00. It didn't take him too long to fall asleep.

Buster was again a little sensitive while falling asleep, but we finally got him into his crib at about 10:00.

It was nice to enjoy a family day together. Hope you all had an equally satisfactory Thanksgiving.

T-Day Shopping

Buster was again up and down in the early morning. I was up with him from a little before 6:00 to about 7:30, at which point M-lady took the very awake and bright little boy. I got to sleep from then until Bud came in a woke me at very nearly 8:30.

Bud and I headed downstairs after we got him dressed. Nanny J had arrived around the same time, and Bud wanted me to stay with him to watch TV. I was able to sit for a few minutes, but had to get on the computer to check in with work. I got Bud set up with a bagel for breakfast, and headed upstairs to start working.

Nanny J got Buster to nap shortly after she arrived, and so was playing with Bud when I left for work. Bud gave me a happy wave.

M-lady and I both arrived home well before 5:00, which was nice. We were able to let Nanny J go early, and since we were both home, we were able to have dinner much earlier than usual. Bud joined us for dinner, and ended up eating about a ton of edamame.

After dinner, Bud and I headed to the supermarket to pick up a few more ingredients for the meal tomorrow. Bud was pretty patient, although he started getting anxious to get home after a bit. The store was pretty crowded, but there were a lot of checkers so we weren't stuck in line for long.

While we were there, Bud let me know that he needed to go to the bathroom, and then did a good job of holding it until we located the restroom.

Bud and I took a shower shortly after getting home, and then watched a little TV before heading for bed. Bud was a bit recalcitrant at bedtime, but was finally in bed a bit before 9:00. He fell asleep in about ten minutes after finally settling down.

M-lady spent the evening with Buster, who seemed to mostly be his usual mellow self. He's be a bit more restless at night recently, without much indication of a cause. Hopefully he'll sleep well tonight.

New Movie

Buster was up fairly early again this morning, and M-lady took care of him. Bud wandered in around 7:00, and I hung out with him in his room for about half an hour before we got dressed and headed downstairs to watch some TV.

Bud wasn't interested in breakfast this morning, so he hung out with me until Nanny J arrived at about 8:45. I headed for work not too long after that, and Bud wished me a happy goodbye.

Ama and Agu, who have been staying with Aunt O and Uncle C, came over in the late morning to play with the kids. They apparently had a really good time, and cooked 'pigs in a blanket' for Bud for lunch. He loved them, and ate 3.

I arrived home at about 5:00, and Buster was happily playing with Bud's old Mozart Cube. Agu had put batteries in it when they were here, and Buster was enjoying the music it made as he smacked it around.

We had a nice if rambunctious video call with Granddad B and Grandma Nese. M-lady arrived home while we were chatting, and got involved in a lightsaber duel with Bud in the background as I sat with Buster in the foreground. Buster tried to get the computer, Bud spent some time crawling on my back and tickling my ears, and all in all it was really difficult to carry on a conversation. On the other, hand, the grandparents got to see what it's like here much of the time.

Bud was pretty wound up, and he and I had some fun practicing some stunting. He now has the discipline to stand pretty straight in my hands, and so we tried a couple of new practice holds with M-lady spotting. He had a pretty good time.

Bud and I settled down by watching the first half of Toy Story. He really seemed to like it. I skipped over the parts with the sadistic neighbor kid, Sid, which Bud didn't mind, but he asked a lot of questions about Sid and why he was mean. It was good to have him enjoy a new movie.

We stopped for a bathroom break and dinner at about 7:30. Bud ate well, and we headed for bed after having an ice cream cone for dessert. Bud was pretty good about going to bed, and fell asleep a bit before 9:00.

Buster was harder to get to sleep tonight, again being a bit touchy about being put down. He finally fell asleep for good at about 10:30.

Crawling Interrupted

Buster was up this morning at about 6:00, and M-lady got up with him. She brought him to bed around 7:00. About 15 minutes later, Bud joined us, and we had a full bed.

We had a lot of fun hanging out, but Bud was ready to get dressed and head downstairs by about 7:45. I headed down with him while M-lady snoozed a little with Buster.

Bud was pretty good about getting ready for school today, and the drop off went just fine.

I got home from work at about 5:00, and found Bud playing his toy guitar, accompanied by Buster on drums and Nanny J on sax. They were having a really good time. Buster was enjoying chewing on the drum.

After Nanny J took her leave, Bud and Buster and I played together for a little bit before I got started on dinner. At one point, Buster was leaning forward to get at a toy that was just out of reach, and I was watching closely. He leaned, and leaned, and I thought he was going to pull himself forward a bit... and then he barfed on the carpet.

After getting things cleaned up, Bud pushed Buster around in his stroller for a little while as I cooked dinner. Bud offered to help me cook, but there really wasn't much for him to do on this meal, as it was all on the stovetop. He did a good job keeping Buster occupied, though.

I ate my dinner, and was getting a bottle ready for Buster when M-lady arrived home. She ate her dinner while I fed Buster, and then she took Buster for a bit as I played some Rock Band and Lego Star Wars with Bud before bed.

Bud decided he was hungry right before bed, and ate some dinner before we headed upstairs. He was pretty good through the bedtime routine, although he rebelled a bit when I turned out the light. He fell asleep around 8:45 or so after quite a bit of squirming.

Shopping After Dark

I had a bike race this morning, so got up not too long after Buster got M-lady out of bed, and before Bud got up. Bud woke not too long after I left, and M-lady had a great morning with the kids.

After getting dressed and having breakfast, they went on a shopping outing, which was M-lady's first time taking both kids out on her own. It went really well, apparently, and they actually made a second stop when things seemed to be OK. They got a lot of good shopping done.

I got home about ten minutes before they returned, and helped them get back inside before taking a shower. When I got out, we all had some lunch together. Bud ate well.

After lunch, I occupied the kids for a little while in the playroom while M-lady cleaned up the kitchen. Buster was getting a little groggy around 1:00, so I took him upstairs for a nap.

Buster was fine today, although he didn't sleep as deeply as he does normally. Neither M-lady nor I were able to get him to sleep in his crib for more than a few minutes at a time. He didn't mind sleeping in our arms, though, so I sat with him for a while.

At about 2:00, Buster joined M-lady and Bud in the office, and I snoozed for a little bit. M-lady and I then switched places, and I entertained the kids for a while as she took a quick nap. We had a nice chat with Grandma W and Granddad B before Buster got a little hungry.

After a great dinner cooked by M-lady, Bud and I made a run to the grocery store to pick up ingredients for our Thanksgiving dinner. Bud was great at the store, although he was a little confused about going shopping after dark. I assured him that the lights inside the store would be turned on.

When we got home, we had just enough time for a quick snack, a shower with the kids, and then another quick snack and some TV before getting ready for bed. Bud was pretty amenable to the bedtime routine tonight, and was asleep around 8:30. Buster was hard to put down, as he was all day, but eventually went to sleep deeply enough that he settled into his crib.

Punching Holes

Buster was up and down this morning again, and M-lady managed him for the most part. I got up with Bud a little after 7:00, and we lay in his bed together for about 15 minutes before getting up and heading downstairs. We watched a little bit of TV together before M-lady and Buster joined us, and we started in on breakfast.

After breakfast and a little bit of hanging out time, I got started on the long-delayed project of securing the banister at the top of the stairs. Buds a bit big to get through the railing now, but Buster could squeeze through once he starts moving.

We have two sections of banister to secure, a 14 foot long section and a 6 foot long section. I bought clear plastic sheeting to secure over the railing to prevent little bodies from plummeting. They were offered in 15 foot and 5 foot sections, so I bought one of each figuring I could redistribute that extra foot.

The 14 foot section of railing was easy, since I just snipped a foot off that section, and that part of the project was consequently finished about 10 months ago. In any case, Bud and I tackled the tougher part of the project before lunch. It took a couple of hours, and Bud was really helpful, mostly handing me tools that were out of reach, but occasionally acting as a third hand.

We got the job done, and Bud was rewarded with a single-hole punch that had come with the kit. He had a great time punching holes in construction paper.

We had some lunch together, and then spent some family time playing together in the playroom. We had fun reading stories and playing for a bit, and had a snack a bit after 2:00. Buster started getting a little crabby, and fell asleep around 3:00.

Great Uncle T and Aunt E arrived a bit after 3:00, and we had a lovely visit with them for a couple of hours. Bud was pretty shy at first, but ended up having a great time with them. At one point we heard a pitched lightsaber battle coming from the playroom between Uncle T and Bud, which sounded like a lot of fun.

Uncle C, Aunt O, and Cousin C arrived a little bit later, and Uncle T and Aunt E took their leave after a bit. The rest of us had dinner together, which went really well. Bud and Uncle C played some Lego Star Wars before Bud had a minor meltdown. Overall it was a fun but busy evening.

The kids were pretty tired by the time everyone left, and I did the bedtime routine with Bud while M-lady settled Buster down. Bud and I watched a little bit of Cars before brushing teeth and getting into PJs. We turned the light out a little before 9:00, and Bud was asleep in a few minutes.

Toy Distribution

Buster was up early again this morning, and M-lady took him until nearly 6:00. At that point I got up and rocked him to sleep, and he slept on my chest as I sat in the glider until about 7:00. At that point he woke again, and M-lady took him back. Bud apparently woke a short time later, and enjoyed hanging out with Buster and M-lady.

I joined them a little after 8:00, and got Bud started on breakfast. Buster kept an eye on M-lady while she got herself ready for work, and Bud let me get packed up a bit as he ate some cereal. We finished up he pre-school ritual with a trip to the potty, then a jacket and shoes.

Bud was good on his dropoff, and I got back home a little after 9:00. Nanny J had a doctor's appointment this morning, so I stayed home with Buster while M-lady headed for work. Buster fell asleep pretty quickly for his morning nap, so I didn't lose much work time.

Nanny J arrived at about 11:00, and I headed off to work. Buster and Bud had a good day with Nanny J. Bud took a bath with Nanny J today for the first time in a while. M-lady and I grabbed some dinner and got home a little bit after 7:00.

When we arrived home, Bud had distributed his toys evenly around the living room. It looked as if entropy had run its course. We said goodnight to Nanny J, and Bud and I spent some time cleaning up before curling up on a chair to read some new dinosaur books he got.

A bit later in the evening, we played a little bit of Lego Star Wars before heading up to bed. The bedtime routine went pretty well up until lights out time, at which point he protested and ran out of the room. M-lady eventually convinced him to come back, and I lay down with him in his bed until he fell asleep, a little after 9:00.

Pleasant Evening

Buster was up pretty early this morning, and M-lady took the first shift. She handed him to me at about 6:00, and we played together for a while. Bud woke at about 6:45, and I handed Buster over to M-lady to spend some time hanging out with Bud. We stayed in his room for a bit, but he didn't go back to sleep. Around 7:30 we got up and headed downstairs.

The rest of the morning was pretty standard. Bud had a bowl of cereal for breakfast, and M-lady came down with Buster at about 8:30. I took the opportunity to snooze for about 45 minutes before heading off to work.

Bud apparently had a good time at the park with Nanny J and Buster, but they had to come home a little early as it started raining (just a bit). I got home a little after 5:00, and Buster was snoozing while Bud and Nanny J were playing pretend rock band.

Buster woke up as Nanny J was leaving, and he patiently watched Bud and I play pretend rock band together. Bud generally played guitar and sang, and I had the bongos. Buster was pretty interested in the bongos.

After a bit of that, we watched a few minutes of the movie Cars before M-lady arrived home and we got started on dinner. Bud played with Lego minifigs and built a ship from spare parts while the rest of us ate, and I managed to catch another 45 minutes of nap while M-lady read stories to the kids afterward.

Bud finally ate dinner a bit after 7:00, and we played a few minutes of Lego Star Wars before heading for bed. Bud did a good job of not getting upset about having to stop playing at bedtime.

He was pretty cooperative at bedtime, although we got to bed a little late. He fell asleep right before 9:00.

Buster didn't run a fever today, and was really smiley and chipper through the evening. I hope he sleeps a little later tomorrow morning, though.

I don't think I've posted that Buster is pretty ticklish now. I can get a giggle out of him by tickling his feet or sides. He also seems to be tickled every time we wipe him at a diaper change, and giggles quite a bit. This makes changing diapers a bit less of a chore.

More Shots

Buster was up a little bit during the night, but nothing like the previous night. M-lady was good enough to take care of Buster during the night. I got up with Bud when he came in around 7:15, and we got him dressed and headed downstairs to watch a little bit of TV.

Bud was amenable to getting ready for school, and was reasonably happy at the drop off. I headed back home, and picked up Buster to take him in to the doctor's office.

Buster got his second flu shot, as well as the HIB we'd skipped last month so that he would have all his shots at once. Buster was OK until I laid him down on the exam table, and was fine once I picked him up again. He fell asleep in the car on the way home.

I headed off for work, and the kids apparently had a pretty good day. They both seemed happy to see me when I got home around 5:00. Buster was running a low-grade fever, but was still pretty chipper, and was happy to sit and watch as Bud and I built a little structure out of the square floor pad sections that he pulled out of the closet. Bud then went on to play 'concession stand', and I purchased all sorts of various pretend sundries from him.

M-lady arrived home a short time later, as we were watching some YouTube videos. We all had a good dinner together, Bud enjoyed an ice cream cone, and we watched a little bit of TV before heading for bed. Bud was reasonably cooperative at bedtime, and was asleep shortly after 9:00.

Buster was pretty happy all evening, and when we checked his temperature before bedtime, it seemed his fever had broken. Hopefully he'll sleep well tonight. Bud has slept through the night the past couple of nights, which is nice.

Unsettled Night

Buster woke this morning about 3:00, and was on and off for the rest of the night. M-lady and I seem to have traded half-hour shifts or so. M-lady had to head for work at about 7:15 this morning, and deposited a very chipper Buster in bed with me then.

Buster wasn't very interested in staying in bed, though, so I got up and sat him up in the middle of the bedroom. I lay down on the floor next to him, and passed out pretty quickly. Buster rolled around a little bit before falling asleep himself. About a half hour later, at 8:15, Bud came in to find the two of us asleep on the floor. He was a little confused.

I got Bud dressed and up while Buster was snoozing, and then got myself dressed while Bud watched a little TV before Nanny J arrived. Buster was very happy to see Nanny J, and Bud got some breakfast with her as I headed to work.

The kids apparently had a good day, and M-lady took over from Nanny J at a little after 5:00. I got home around 6:00, and was really happy to see the family. Bud was excited to see me, and we all had a good time catching up for a little bit before we started on dinner.

Bud ate well, and we were all lounging in the living room together for a bit before Bud had a bit of a meltdown. After dealing with that (and confiscating a lightsaber for the night), Bud and I watched a small amount of TV before starting on the bedtime routine. Bud was amenable, and was in bed around 8:20. He fell asleep pretty quickly.

Hopefully Buster will sleep more soundly tonight, and we'll all be a little better rested tomorrow.

Missing the Family

Bud woke me up at about 3:00 and 4:30, and Buster was up at about 6:00 with M-lady. She handed him to me at 7:00, and he was happy and chipper until his nap later in the morning.

I got Bud up at about 8:00, and got him dressed and downstairs eating breakfast by about 8:30. He was a little slow to get going, but reasonably cooperative. We were out the door for school just about on time. The drop off at school went fine, and Bud looked comfortable in class.

I headed off to work shortly after that, and had a really long day. I missed seeing the kids in the evening... thanks, M-lady, for putting the kids to bed! I managed to get a phone call in to the family at about 7:30, and Bud assured me that he would be good and go to bed. I'll have to check with M-lady tomorrow to see if that really happened.

Hopefully I won't have to work quite so late for the rest of the week.

New Friends

Buster was up at about 6:00 this morning. That is, he was thrashing and crying every few minutes, but was otherwise mostly asleep. I think his teeth were a bit uncomfortable. M-lady held him for a bit, and then I took him for a while.

When I finally got him to fall into a deeper sleep, Bud woke and asked me to lie with him for a bit. He wasn't really sleepy, so he poked and prodded me for a while until he decided he was ready to get up and head downstairs. M-lady was kind enough to take both kids on for a while, and I got back to sleep for a bit.

Bud and Buster had a good time with M-lady in the morning, having some breakfast and playing photography. Bud had them all pose for shots from a pretend photographer, and then pretended to snap shots of M-lady and Buster.

I joined them at about 10:00, and M-lady was able to nap for a bit. At about 10:45 Buster ate a serving of bananas, and then passed out. After I put Buster down, Bud and I played together for a bit, and then got some lunch for ourselves.

At about 12:30 I woke M-lady, and she got some lunch and got ready for our guests, who arrived at 1:00. One of Bud's classmates from his new school, K, and his mother came over to play. K's mother, J, is one of the teachers at Bud's school as well, and this caused a little bit of confusion on his part, after the fact. Bud was a little shy at first, but soon Bud and K were running around the house having an epic lightsaber battle.

K and J had to leave shortly after 2:00, and Bud was a little disappointed to see them go. But we agreed to set up another play date before too long.

Bud and I went for a bike ride a short time later, and Bud napped for most of the ride. M-lady took the opportunity to run some errands with Buster, who was apparently very tolerant of the outing.

After we all got home and I got cleaned up, M-lady cooked another wonderful dinner. I had a quick video call with Grandma W and Granddad B, during which Buster looked a little concerned. Dinner was good, and Buster fell asleep in my arms while I watched a little bit of football and Bud had some dinner.

Bud watched some TV with me before bedtime, and was reasonably cooperative during the bedtime routine. I think the nap during the day helped, although he didn't fall asleep until after 9:00.

Saturday, November 15, 2008

Old Friends

Buster was up and happy at about 6:00 this morning, and M-lady got up with him. Bud got me out of bed a little after 8:00, and he 'worked' at his desk while I caught up on email and did some work before we headed downstairs to get some breakfast.

After breakfast, I kept an eye on the kids while M-lady started getting ready for our lunch outing. I managed to find Bud's old Learning Table for Buster, who seemed pretty interested in it. At about 10:00, Buster was getting pretty tired, and fell asleep for a brief nap. The rest of us finished getting ready, and headed out the door around 10:45.

We headed over to a park in Los Altos, where we met up with Bud's friend J and his parents, K and D. J was one of Bud's classmates at his previous school (the mid-twos program), and they got along so well that we started getting together from time to time. We hadn't seen them in a while.

Bud was a bit shy at first, unsurprisingly. He warmed up quite a bit after we ate some lunch, and he and J had a great time playing in the sandbox. By the time Buster was getting a little grumpy, around 2:00ish, Bud was excited to invite J over to our house to play sometime soon.

Buster fell asleep on the way home, and we tried to have some quiet time when we arrived. Bud wasn't really interested, though, so I played with him for a bit while M-lady rested with Bud, and then we switched places. I managed to get Buster to snooze again for about 45 minutes while M-lady started working on dinner.

M-lady cooked a fantastic dinner for us, and Bud ate with us, which was nice. After dinner, I cleaned up a bit while M-lady played with Bud, and then got Bud into the shower to get him cleaned up. Buster also took a turn in the shower with us.

Bud and I watched a little bit of TV before starting the bedtime routine. Bud again had a meltdown, but it wasn't as severe as last night. He was in bed and asleep by about 8:30.

Down and Up Game

Buster was up and chipper this morning at about 6:15, and M-lady was up with him for about an hour before bringing him to bed for a bit. I got up a little before 8:00, got myself dressed, and went to wake up Bud.

Bud dawdled a little bit while getting ready for school, but I didn't hear once this morning (or last night) that he didn't want to go to school. The dropoff went well.

Bud and Buster apparently had a pretty good day with Nanny J, and Bud ate a big lunch. I arrived home just as Nanny J was leaving, and M-lady was playing with Bud and Buster.

We all played together for a short time before M-lady went out to run an errand. Bud asked very nicely if he could play Lego Star Wars, and immediately agreed to the conditions set forward, including stopping when a timer went off. M-lady agreed that it was OK, and so Bud and I played a little bit with Buster looking on.

After the time was up, we watched a little bit of TV together, while I held Buster standing on my lap on the couch. Bud would tackle Buster, and I'd stand him up again, over and over. Buster thought it was hilarious. His giggle was infectious, and Bud and I were laughing quickly, too.

M-lady and I grabbed some dinner after she got home, and then she played with Bud for a bit while I entertained Buster. They had some nice reading time before Bud finally ate dinner at about 7:30.

After dinner, Bud and I watched a little more TV before starting the bedtime routine. Bud totally melted down when we started the routine, and ended up howling in bed for a bit before quieting down and falling asleep. It was an unfortunate end to the day, but he was clearly just way overtired. Hopefully he sleeps well tonight, and can sleep in as long as he wants tomorrow morning.

Thursday, November 13, 2008

Bud woke at about 7:00 this morning, and I got up with him to hang out in his room for about half an hour before getting dressed. The cleaners arrived a little earlier than expected, shortly after 8:00, and after I got myself dressed we headed downstairs and watched a little TV together before Nanny J arrived at 8:45.

I got Bud some breakfast, and then headed out to the office. Bud was OK with me leaving, and wished me a good day as I took off.

He apparently ate a lot in the afternoon, and both he and Buster had a good day. I got home around 5:00, and they were having a good time in the living room. We played together for a bit, and then headed into the kitchen. I was having some friends over for dinner, and made some guacamole as an appetizer. Bud had a great time helping me mash the avacados, and Buster watched patiently from his stroller.

M-lady arrived home around 6:00, while we were setting up Rock Band in the playroom. Buster was still being patient, entertaining himself with chewing on toys, and Bud and I were banging on drums together a little bit. A short time later Bud let me know that he was hungry.

Since he'd had a big lunch, I asked if he wanted a PB and J, which he enthusiastically inhaled. As he was finishing up, the first guests arrived.

Bud was a bit shy, but did pop his head into the room now and again. M-lady was great and took care of both kids for the latter part of the evening, which I entertained the guests. I left them to help put Bud to bed, but he didn't stay there when I left him. M-lady sat with him for a while, and he eventually fell asleep.

Before he fell asleep, Bud was a little disappointed that I didn't get to play Rock Band with him before bed. I'll have to make sure I play with him a bit tomorrow.

Buster was up and down a little bit during the evening, but I don't think it was much more than usual.

Inadvertantly Late Night

Bud got me out of bed this morning at about 7:00, and I was able to hang out with him in his room until about 7:30 before we got him dressed and headed downstairs. We watched some morning TV, had some breakfast, and then got ready to go to school.

M-lady was up and down with Buster during the night. Buster hasn't been sleeping as well recently, and we suspect minor discomfort from teething.

I dropped Bud off at school without much issue, and was still working from home when he got home with Nanny J at about noon. He was surprised to see me, but didn't mind when I left for work, as he was intent on getting some lunch.

I got held up at work a bit today, and didn't get home until a little after 5:30. I apologized to Nanny J. Both kids seemed pretty happy to see me. Buster was sitting on the floor of the living room with a bunch of toys around him, and Bud was dancing around the living room a bit.

Since they seemed to be having a pretty good time, I ran upstairs to drop my stuff and grab a phone to call my sister. When I got back downstairs about ninety seconds later, Bud had put away all of Buster's toys. Buster was looking a bit bewildered.

We got some toys back to Buster to chew on, and Bud continued to jump around a bit while I chatted with my sister. After a short call, I danced with Bud for a bit before we slowed things down a little and chilled in front of the TV. M-lady arrived home shortly, and we had dinner at about 7:00.

Bud ate a huge amount of dinner tonight, in several sittings. He had his first dinner with us, then had a cup of yogurt, then had about half my dinner, then asked for another half of a bagel before heading for bed. He may be having a bit of a growth spurt.

Because dinner took a little longer than expected, we stayed up a little late and watched The Upside Down Show. I managed to get Bud into bed a little before 9:00, and he fell asleep in just a few minutes after we turned out the light. Buster was a little restless after going to bed, waking a couple of times in the evening.

Fun With Kids

Bud woke once during the night, and then slept pretty soundly until about 8:30. Buster was up around 7:00 or so, and M-lady brought him to bed, where he fell asleep again before too long. He woke up a little after 8:30, while the rest of us were making noise getting dressed and such.

When Bud has asked why I go to work, I've told him that it's to earn money to pay for things like food, and the house, and other things. This morning while I was getting him dressed, he said, "Stay home, Daddy! We have enough money."

I explained that I still had to go to my job, and he accepted the explanation, and went off to get some breakfast from Nanny J.

I actually had to work a little late this evening, so M-lady was home first. When I got home around six, the family was upstairs, with Buster happily playing with toys and Bud practicing his scissor skills on some of the junk mail. We all headed downstairs and had some dinner.

Bud and I played a little bit of Star Wars themed 'shoot the bad guys' pretend, running around the house a bit, and then settled down in front of the TV for a short time before taking a shower and getting ready for bed. Bud was pretty reasonable about going to bed tonight, and was asleep a bit after 8:30.

Buster seems able to entertain himself for longer and longer stretches, and likes the new toys we've been pulling out for him over the past couple of days. I think the toys he can chew on are his favorites, though, with good old Mr. Banana Guy holding the favorite spot right now.

Picture Day

Buster was up a little early this morning, and M-lady brought him to bed with us around 7:00ish, I believe. I got out of bed at about 7:45 to start getting ready, and Bud was up at about 8:00.

We all primped a bit this morning, and shortly after Nanny J arrived we packed up and drove over to the home of a photographer who's done some fantastic work for us in the past. We arrived at about 10:00, and got set up for a family photo shoot.

Both Bud and Buster were great for the shoot. Buster was pretty chipper right up to the end, and while Bud was a little shy at first, he warmed up and got into it as we went along. We got some genuine smiles from Bud, which was great, as he has had a tendency to mug a bit in photos recently. Bud was also fascinated by the number of cameras and lenses that the photographer used.

We finished up around 11:00, right as Buster decided that he needed to eat. M-lady and Nanny J got the kids settled and started the journey home as I proceeded directly to work.

Bud and Buster apparently had a good afternoon, and were happily playing when I got home a little after 5:00. Nanny J took her leave, and I played with Bud and Buster for a bit.

I grabbed a couple of Bud's old toys from the closet for Buster, including his Peek-A-Blocks. Buster was really interested in the blocks, but had trouble grabbing them. I set them in a pile in front of him, and when I looked back a minute or two later, they were all pushed out in a semi-circular arc just out of his grabbing radius: he'd managed to push them all away while trying to pick them up. He wasn't terribly upset about it, though.

Bud and Buster both entertained themselves while I got some dinner for myself. I prepared Bud's dinner as well, although he declined to join me. M-lady arrived home just as I was finishing up, and got herself some dinner while I prepared a bottle for Buster.

After she'd eaten, M-lady took Buster while I played with Bud for a bit. We had a brief reading time, played some 'camping' with his PlayHut tents, and eventually got some dinner. There was enough time to watch about 15 minutes of TV after dinner, and then we did the bedtime routine. Bud was pretty amenable, although he was really tired, and was asleep by about 8:30. Before he went to sleep both M-lady and I told him how much we appreciated him behaving well for the photo shoot. We should have our first real family portrait soon!

Play Date

Buster was up this morning at about 6:30, and M-lady kindly kept him occupied while I slept until Bud got up, around 8:30. Both kids were in good spirits, so we headed downstairs for breakfast after getting dressed.

After a good breakfast, Bud and I headed for the grocery store. There were some local firefighters doing their grocery shopping while we were there, and they gave Bud a sticker. He was a little shy at the time, but he waved to them as they drove away in their fire truck. He was pretty excited about the fire truck.

After unloading the groceries, we started getting ready to go visit Friend T, and her parents M and D. Bud seemed reasonably comfortable with going to their house, and asked lots of questions. He opted not to bring any toys with him to share, though.

We arrived around 12:30, and Bud was a bit shy to start out (unsurprisingly). He warmed up before too long though, and seemed to have a good time playing with T. T got into playing lightsabers with Bud, and Bud enjoyed playing trains and painting with T.

We had a nice lunch, and M and D admired a cute Buster. M-lady and I had a great time chatting with M and D about this and that, and admiring their new place. Eventually Buster started getting a little tired a fussy, and we packed up and headed for home around 3:30.

On the way home, Bud commented how much fun he had playing with T, and asked when we could invite them over to our place. Hopefully we'll be able to get together with them before too long.

M-lady got to work on putting together a great dinner when we got home, and I spent some time outside with Bud. He played lightsaber while I did some minor chores around the yard. We headed in before too long.

We had a nice video chat with Granddad B and Grandma Nese after that. Buster was a little restless, and happily tried to pitch himself off the couch a couple of times, and Bud was in and out of the frame a bit. I tried to feed Buster, but he wasn't really interested at the time.

After the call, I plopped Buster down in his high chair where he could see M-lady, and spent some reading time with Bud, working with him and the Leapfrog Tag book. After playing with that for a while, I totally passed out on the couch for about half an hour before dinner. Bud tried to rouse me several times, and jumped up on me a few times as well.

M-lady had prepared an excellent dinner, and we all ate very well. Bud had some ice cream and blueberries after dinner, and then Bud, Buster, and I all took a shower. After the shower, Bud and I played a little Lego Star Wars. Over the past couple of weeks Bud has had a tendency to get so involved with the game that he doesn't get up to pee. That happened again this evening, and the couch got pretty wet. I think we're going to have to take a hiatus from the game for a little while until Bud shows that he can pull himself away.

In any case, after getting Bud and the couch cleaned up, I read Bud a story and put him to bed a little after 8:00. He fell asleep pretty quickly. Buster was also to be early, as he really didn't nap enough during the day.

The Wrestling Begins

Bud got me out of bed this morning a little after 7:00, and we stayed in his room until about 7:45. It was the usual morning TV and milk from there. M-lady and Buster joined us at about 8:45, and at about 9:00 we turned off the TV to have some breakfast.

I managed to nap for about half an hour while M-lady fed the kids and got herself ready to go out. She handed Buster off to me a little after 9:30 to take her leave. Bud, Buster, and I headed up to my room first, where I got dressed and cleaned up. Buster was a little stinky when I finished up, so I got him into a clean diaper. We proceeded into Bud's room, where Buster watched patiently from Bud's bed while Bud and I had a bit of a lightsaber battle.

We ended up in the office, where Bud and I did some computer work while Buster chewed on some toys on the floor a short distance away. I made a few phone calls to family, and we generally had a good time together. Around 11:45 Buster went down for an hour long nap, and Bud and I took the opportunity to play some Lego Star Wars.

M-lady got home around noon, and we had some lunch. After lunch, Bud and I ran out to the post office and home depot. We returned to find M-lady working on sewing with Buster looking on.

Buster was a bit drooly today. There may be more teeth coming. I also neglected to mention that I got Buster up onto my shoulders yesterday for the first time. He seemed to enjoy the height, and stabilized himself by grabbing a couple of fistfuls of hair.

We had a fun video chat with Grandma W and Granddad B, with Buster and Bud both participating. During the call, Bud tackled Buster a couple of times, flattening him from his sitting up position. Buster thought it was really funny, but we'll have to keep an eye on Bud to make sure he's not too rough with the little one.

M-lady ran out to CostCo with Bud in the early evening, and Buster and I chilled out together for a while. Buster really enjoyed standing up while holding onto my thumbs for a bit. He got hungry, and I fed him his second solid food meal of the day (bananas).

When M-lady and Bud got back, we had some spaghetti for dinner, and played a little more Lego Star Wars, and headed for bed. Bud was pretty agreeable, and was asleep by 8:30.

Drumming Again

Bud got me out of bed this morning at about 3:45, and I slept with him in his bed until about 5:30 or so. When I got back to bed, Buster was sleeping next to M-lady in it. She had gotten him at about 4:30, and brought him to bed because his nose was pretty stuffed up and she didn't want him to suffocate.

Bud came into the room a little before 8:00 with his new reading toy, and played with it for a while as M-lady and I got ourselves out of bed and dressed. We then managed to get him dressed and downstairs eating breakfast. I took him to school, and dropped him off without incident.

The boys apparently had a good day with Nanny J, and were having fun when I got home around 4:00ish. Bud was a little disappointed that I couldn't spend a lot of time with him over the next hour as I logged in and finished the work day, but I heard him laughing downstairs as he played ball with Nanny J.

We wished her a good weekend at 5:15, and I took over ball-playing duties with Bud and Buster. Buster was willing to sit and watch for a while as Bud and I played some Lego Star Wars, which is where M-lady found us when she arrived home.

Bud and I played some Rock Band 2 together, and worked on drumming for the first time in a while. We sat next to each other, and I handled the red and yellow pads and the bass pedal, while Bud hit the blue and green pads. He did pretty well, and we survived all the songs we tried. I helped with verbal directions, but let him hit his pads.

Bud ate a good dinner, and we had a shower afterward. Bud was pretty well behaved, although he didn't want to get out of the shower after I turned the water off. He came out eventually, after I'd dried myself off and gotten dressed.

We watched a little nighttime TV, had a snack, and headed for bed. Bud was a bit reluctant to go to sleep again, but dropped off around 8:45 or so. Hopefully he'll sleep well through the night.

New Reading Tool

Bud woke me at about 6:00 this morning. M-lady offered to go lie down with him, but Bud refused and crawled under our bed. I got up a few minutes later and escorted him back to his bed, where he lay with me for a bit before falling asleep again. We slept there until about 9:00.

I got Bud dressed when we got up, and he headed downstairs to find Nanny J while I got myself ready for work. M-lady had taken care of Buster this morning while Bud and I slept.

M-lady and I headed for work pretty quickly, and Bud and Buster had a good day with Nanny J. M-lady got home before I did this evening, and was playing with the kids when I got home. Buster was clicking away, trying out his new tongue click sound he's discovered. He clicked quite a bit during the evening.

Buster has largely outgrown the bouncer chairs, as he can sit up well now. He can't get himself to sitting yet, but he doesn't fall over very often. He seems to like sitting on his own more than sitting in the bouncers, too. So it seems to be about time to pack up the bouncers and give them away.

M-lady attended a Leapfrog educational toy presentation a few days ago, and we pulled out the toy they gave her for Bud this evening: the Leapfrog Tag. We got some batteries into it, figured out the basics of how to use it with the included book, and Bud spent pretty much the following two hours playing with it.

He really enjoyed having the 'smart pen' read the story to him, and then had a lot of fun playing the games in the book later on. He actually showed some early reading skills as well, succeeding in some of the simpler game modes. He continued to play by himself with it while M-lady and I had some dinner, and then played with me and the book for a while.

Bud eventually ate his dinner after 8:00, and then played with the Tag a little more with M-lady before I got him up to bed. He was a bit reluctant about going to bed, but finally fell asleep around 9:00.

The Tag is a huge hit. We'll see if Bud enjoys it as much over the next few days as he did today, and if so, we'll look at picking up some more books for it. I've also got a nagging need to figure out how the thing actually works - it currently seems sort of magical.

Reading Time Again

Buster was up and down starting at about 4:30. M-lady took care of him until about 6:30, at which point I took him for a while. He fell asleep again at about 7:00, and woke for good at about 7:45 or so.

Bud woke this morning at about 7:30, and came to get me up. I managed to keep him upstairs until about 7:45, at which point we headed downstairs and started morning TV. Bud was pretty good about getting ready for school, and we got there a few minutes early, for a change. Bud was good about going into class.

The kids apparently had a good day, and I got home around 5:00ish. Bud was bouncing around, and after Nanny J left, he and I kicked a ball back and forth in the living room to his great delight while I held Buster. M-lady arrived a short time later, and we repaired to the playroom.

We had received some books we'd ordered for Bud a couple of days ago, and revealed the first one to him: Ready, Set, Podrace! Bud was pretty excited, and I read the book to him before dinner. While M-lady and I got some dinner, Bud continued to look at the book.

Bud was a little reluctant to eat dinner tonight, but we got a shower and dinner done eventually. He finally ate dinner right before bedtime, and had another piece of Halloween candy before brushing his teeth and turning in for the night. He fell asleep around 8:45, after I read another Star Wars story to him.

Election Day

Bud was up this morning at about 6:15, and I managed to keep him in his room until about 7:00, but he was pretty rambunctious. We got him dressed and headed downstairs for a little bit of TV and some breakfast after that.

M-lady came down with Buster at about 8:30, and I took the opportunity to snooze a bit more before starting on work. Nanny J arrived at 8:45, and Bud was playing with her and Buster before too long. He came and checked on me when I was checking my email, and wished me a good day when I took off for the office.

They had a pretty good day, and M-lady and I got home at the same time, just a bit after 5:00. We got settled, said goodbye to Nanny J, and packed up to go to the local polling location. We had already filled out our absentee ballots, but didn't get around to mailing them off in time, so it was quick to drop them off. We talked to Bud the whole way about what we were doing.

Bud and I played a little bit of his favorite video game when we got home, and then we had some dinner. Bud ate a little after us, and while he was eating M-lady read him the book Duck For President, explaining about elections the whole time. He asked her to read it again when they finished.

We spent the rest of the evening watching results on CNN and then watching a little bit of Star Wars Episode I. Bud wasn't really excited to head for bed, but wasn't too combative, either. I got him into bed a little before 8:30, and he passed out in about 15 minutes.

He missed a shower again today, so I'll see about getting him into the shower in the morning if he gets up early again.

Reading Time

Buster was up and down quite a bit from about 1:00 to 2:30 or so, and M-lady and I took turns soothing him. He slept pretty well after that. Bud got me out of bed in the morning around 7:15, and we stayed in his bed until about 7:45. At that point we got up, got him dressed, and headed downstairs to watch a little bit of TV.

Bud was amenable to getting ready for school today, which was nice. We headed out when Nanny J arrived, and got him to school on time without any trouble. Nanny J picked him up at lunchtime.

The kids apparently had a pretty good day, and were in good spirits when I arrived home around 5:00. M-lady arrived home a few minutes later. Both kids had just snacked a bit, so M-lady and I had dinner without worrying about feeding them a little bit later.

After eating, we all sat down in the playroom and had reading time. Bud looked at a Star Wars book, M-lady and I read novels, and Buster chewed on his chewy book. It was a very pleasant, quiet 15 minutes or so. We're going to try and continue to have a reading time at least a few times each week.

Bud and I played a little bit of Lego Star Wars after that, and finally had a PB and J on toast before winding up the evening and heading for bed. Bud was much more amenable to going through the bedtime routine tonight, and was asleep around 8:30.

Boys at Home

Bud and Buster woke up around 7:30 this morning, which wasn't too bad given the time change. M-lady and I got up and started adjusting the clocks, and then I went downstairs with Bud to watch a little morning TV.

After some TV, I got started on breakfast, making roll-up pancakes for the family. Bud decided he didn't want any, and contented himself with playing with the Star Wars Lego minifigs. M-lady and I had breakfast, with a contented Buster looking on.

After breakfast, we started on getting ready to head over to Aunt O and Uncle C's place. We got Bud dressed, and were on the road by about 10:30. Buster dozed a little on the drive over.

We had a good time there. Cousin C was a bit grouchy due to teething, but otherwise seems to be doing really well. He's crawling solidly at 7 months, and apparently pulled himself up at daycare this week. Buster, on the other hand, seems to have just mastered sitting up. In any case, there was lots of space for Buster to sit, and a bouncer saucer which Buster got to try. He seemed to like it, so we may invest in one before too long.

After some lunch, Bud showed off the Lego Star Wars game to Uncle C and Aunt O, who thought it was pretty cool. After a bit we managed to pull Bud away from the game and head for home.

Bud and Buster both fell asleep on the way home, and when we arrived I managed to snooze for a little while before M-lady headed off to an brief evening event she was invited to as part of the blogging community. So I spent the late afternoon and early evening with the kids.

We had a nice video chat with Grandma Nese and Granddad B, and all played together in the living room for a bit. Buster really liked watching Bud play lightsabers while chewing on one of the plush toys at hand. After a bit, we got started on dinner.

Buster ate his bananas like a pro, then downed a bottle of formula. Bud had a solid dinner, and I managed to eat while Buster waited patiently after he'd had dinner. After dinner Bud played a little bit of Lego Star Wars while I clipped Buster's nails.

Unfortunately, I took a bit of skin off Buster's thumb, which started bleeding. Buster didn't have any reaction, so it didn't bother him too much. As I was trying to get the bleeding to stop, Buster pooped. So I got a band-aid onto Buster's thumb and changed his diaper. It was his sucking thumb, however, and he jammed it in his mouth (with the band-aid) while I was changing his diaper.

I somehow managed to keep blood and poop off his clothes, and got a fresh band-aid onto his thumb. He was a little frustrated when I kept intercepting his thumb on the way to his mouth, but the bleeding stopped a little while later and we took the band-aid off.

M-lady arrived home around 7:00, and the boys and I took a shower together. After the shower, Bud and I played a little bit more of the video game before heading for bed. Bud was a little overtired by the end of the day, and protested bedtime a bit, but came around shortly. He was asleep by about 8:45.

Rainy Day

Bud and Buster slept pretty well last night, getting M-lady up this morning around 7:30. They hung out in Buster's bed for a while, until Buster started making some noise and M-lady retrieved him. The three of them spent some time in Bud's bed. Bud has really become pretty good with Buster, and played with him a bit this morning.

Eventually I got up and joined the family, and we got some breakfast. Bud was asking for candy almost immediately upon waking, so we had to temper some expectations. I think he did get a piece of candy corn after breakfast, though.

We spent the morning getting ready for a party at 11:00. Since it was a late morning party, we were able to get ready at a milder pace. We headed out geared up for the light rain that was coming down, with Bud in his Darth Maul costume under a coat.

Bud was really shy at the party, unsurprisingly, and Buster was extremely cute. Buster was willing to let some other folks hold him as long as M-lady was close by. A little later in the party, Buster got pretty scared when one of the girls Bud's age was roughhousing with her father. Not sure what scared Buster, but he was fine when I turned him away to face another direction.

We left when Buster started showing signs of needing lunch and a nap, and headed home to get those items. We all had some lunch, and Buster perked up a little bit. After Bud got to eat a piece of his candy, we spent the afternoon doing a few chores and relaxing.

M-lady took a solid two-hour nap with Buster a little later in the afternoon, and I spent some time hanging out with Bud. We finished up the Lego Republic Cruiser we'd been working on, and played some Lego Star Wars as well. We also played a little bit of Rock Band 2, where Bud actually worked on playing the guitar a little bit. He strummed while I fretted for him, and we worked on his rhythm a little bit. He did pretty well.

Bud and I went out into the rain to pick up sushi for dinner after M-lady and Buster woke from their nap, and we all had a nice dinner. After dinner, Bud had a little more candy, and then we all watched a little TV before winding up and heading for bed. Bud was reasonable about going to bed tonight, and fell asleep pretty quickly. Buster was up and down a few times, but finally fell asleep for good a little later. There's an extra hour tonight, so we'll see how early the kiddos get up.
